I'm 64 now I listened pink Floyd for the first time when I was 18. I realized the phrase that you say at 35 and I understand the part that says "sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older". Yes, the sun is still the same, and now I'm older, my parents have passed away, many of my friends too. It's sad but is reality. But you don't get it until sometimes it's too late.

Courtesy of the echo effect of the ol' ' Binson Echorec ' that Pink Floyd has become famous for incorporating into many of their songs. Glimour was not the only member who used the device as Rogers used it as an effect on his Bass and Wright on his keyboard and synthesizers. The Echorec's are fantastic echo devices but hard to maintain if you can get your hands on an original one. However, their are modern day replicas of the Binson Echorec by Dawner Prince of Croatia who make the ' Boonar' which in my opinion is the best duplication currently on market. My second choice would be the ' Echorec' effects pedal made by Catalinbread in Seattle, Washington, USA.

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way Kicking around on a piece of ground in your hometown Waiting for someone or something to show you the way Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain You are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today And then one day you find ten years have got behind you No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say Home, home again I like to be here when I can And when I come home cold and tired It's good to warm my bones beside the fire Far away across the field The tolling of the iron bell Calls the faithful to their knees To hear the softly spoken magic spells

great personal story for me to read
When I was about twenty, I never really understood what it meant "but then one day you find ten years have got behind you" until I turned thirty. Pink Floyd is not just great musicians, they are philosophers in music.
I had that same experience at the same age. Waking up was hard but I’m glad I did: ❤️
Woke up today, and that lyric really resonated with me. ❤️ Damn, where has the time gone?
It's the lyrics of Roger Waters, again and again, that makes their music timeless.
All you touch and all you see is all your life will ever be.... Doesn't get more philosophical than that!
One of the most beautiful guitar solos in the history of rock.
ray djaarx amen to that. By the best soloist ever. There are plenty guitarists that have two or three great solos, but Gilmour has two or three dozen...
I don't think so.
Phish bum bum
Your comment shows how childish you are. Michael's comment was spot on... yours is an over exaggeration of incredible proportions... which completely invalidates your worthless opinion. Paige had a few good solos, but once he recorded he could never play them again... his live performances are a joke, as he fried his brain on heroin.

A "timeless" masterpiece of music. The lyrics are brilliant and so insightful, and David Gilmour's guitar solo is one of the best in rock history. A song for the ages, it will be played at my funeral (hopefully not for a long time. Speaking of, I'm trying to get Gilmour to play there, but he's not returning my calls).

Thank you for posting the lyrics. I have always loved the music (to give away my age, only about for 40 years now), but the lyrics are wonderful, too.

Masterpiece ! David Gilmour = master guitarist !!!
Time...A Timeless...Pink Floyd Classic...!!!!... 💕 💕 💕 💕...!!!!
David Gilmour is the most musical guitar soloist in rock history. and likely the greatest, and this song features one of his most sublime efforts.
Just another TRUE Masterpiece !!!! These guy's were ahead of there time!!! There will NEVER be another PINK FLOYD!!!!!!!!!!!
Timeless ethereal guitar solo... Gave me chills the first TIME I heard it in the mid 70's. Been a Floyd fan ever since.
the most powerful lyrics, beautiful music, greatest solo, makes this this BEST song of all TIME.
this song ALWAYS catches me, gives me goosebumps, leaves me not knowing what to express, it's divine and it feels like something inside syd's head....
Ticking away the moments that make a dull day IMO, the greatest album of all time. Talks about time and money...
I was a young lad when I first listened to Floyd. Used to get high put on my head phones, listen for hours. Meddle, Dark Side, Atom Heart, beautiful music. The fellows in Pink Floyd never let me down! Many thanks from Welch, West Virginia!
Timeless music in a class of its own from an era never to be repeated but never forgotten.
Pink Floyd!
I remember being 15, we all used to sit around smoking joints and listening to this magical music in the dark. I’m now 60, don’t smoke anymore but the music is even more brilliant to me now, I appreciate the beauty of it even more than when I was young. Just a masterpiece,e the whole album.
Im 50 and received the Wall as a gift when I was 12 . The Floyd have been a best friend to me since ...
the lyrics were written when they were all so young, and so was I, and as I got old, now I am almost 60 , i realize how poignant the lyrics REALLY are! I still can't believe a bunch of kids wrote and performed this BEAUTIFUL work of art ,
HaHa...the world is a stage ..pinkfloyd never wrote any music...it was all given to them...there is nothing new under the sun...the beatles, the who, the doors all from tavistock institute...social engineering...there has been at least x2 resets in recent past...we had free power just 100 yrs ago..all was destroyed and minds wiped...think about where are all the tombstones from 1300's onwards?
TheUrantia001 Ok, but do you LIKE Pink Floyd?
But, mais, compressed etc,like ALL on yutub such a pale pale shadow of that T H U M P ! !
I perfectly shows why they need both, Waters and Gilmour.
@@TheUrantia001 Take your Meds as prescribed by your mental health care professional. It's for your own good. Your mother will be upset if you start hearing the voices again.
Best of times the 70’s......glad I made it and still here.......
That they were I miss those days so much at times
Awesome song... Awesome meaning..... Time... make the most of it.....and spend a lot of Your...TIME... listening to..Pink Floyd !!! Like Mr Dilly!!👍🎸😎
I´m 71 years young and one of my women loved Pink Floyd, so I do
Remember when you were a kid lying on the floor stoned off your head, wanting the beginning of this to never end yet, and yet at the same time wishing to hell they'd just get on with it and play the bloody song.
This song is so beautiful it makes me want to cry, I wonder if people will listen to it and appreciate it 100 years from now. I think they will
I do believe you are correct.
I am 56 years old... It was one of my first Vinyls , when I was 15 .. A great time and excellent music.. This year I will by me a new record Player.. Then I can hear my Vinyls again..Pink Floyd, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Supertramp, Simple Minds and all the good music of the 80'es...😊✋
What about Jethro Tull ? I'm 60.
I grew up with this kind of music, the best times.
This, and Comfortably Numb, are among my favourite Pink Floyd compositions
Pink Floyd, way ahead of their time. This is obvious in the reaction of the audiences.
I'm 72 and Pink Floyd is this a one of my favorite Group.
Must be the best band on the planet am 68 and still paying attention
This song will turn fifty in a few years. Seems like just yesterday I heard the song. Iconic band, iconic music. They just don't make music like this anymore.
Music is such an outward way of expressing yourself. Yet you here songs like this from PF and it makes your inward expressions amplified.. Like youve found a way to listen to your soul .
At nearly seven minutes, this is a long song. Funny, it doesn't seem that way when I'm listening to it. It ends and I want more.
I know. You can tell amazing music when you listen to it for seven minutes and it isn't nearly long enough. I have the same feeling about "Echoes" and it's 23 minutes! "Don't stop, please don't stop playing!"
pink floyd could launch a 22 hours song and you'd finish it in a single sit and still want more
Try listen Echoes
It's better to listen to this with Great Gig in the Sky after. Someone made a video with both of them together but I think I it got removed
And then you find, 7 minutes have got behind you...
Este memorabila aceasta bijuterie artistica! Irepetabila, istorie vie!
Dark side of the moon
Dark Side of the Moon has always and always will be one of my favorite albums.
i agree.m
Longest running album in the Billboard top 200, 917 weeks and only taken off because of a technicality. So yeah, you're not alone.
Super album
Or wish you were here ?
Seventeen years old , cutting hay all day for the neighbor, smoking pot in grape flavored papers , on a northern Wisconsin farm, listening to dark side of the moon on the 8 track and day dreaming of my sweetie:)) good old days of the seventies:)
Wouldn't you love to go back an visit the 70s for awhile maybe even stay lol
We were so much younger then, much younger than before
I'll take things that didn't happen fot 500 Alex, those papers aren't around at that time. Good try little kid.
@@Cryaboutmyhandle they were, you just had to go to a quality head shop to find them in 1974-75.
