News of the day on the forum is that the prices on the ARX store just went way up.... As a long time player I feel like FDev is encouraging me to go play other games for the time being.
I felt that way after they stabbed consol players in the back
Probably because if they don't get some cash incoming from ED it'll likely get shut down.
@@Mobscene_CDN let it shut down honestly
FDev just made playing SF a new reprioritization for me...
They've been encouraging people to play other games for years now. The player base on steam has not increased at all and compared to their other games, it's not good. People will say stand alone client and epic store increase the player count, but honestly it can't be more than steam and probably doesn't even reach the amount of players on steam. This game is on life support, and anyone who thinks otherwise is in denial.
Feels like they released 'new' ships because they opted to start selling some for real money. Probably explains also why it's a recycle of an existing ship, to save cost & increase profit margins
Or they just wanna try it once and see how it goes before they implement more.
These ships aren't expensive as Star Citizen ships. I'm very happy with new ships as I'm addicted to buying/engineering ships that I don't need. To have a fresh ship to have loadouts is going to be great.
It's also a tempting draw for new players. Especially with the subsidized redeployment cost.
You don't really think that these sells are making money for them? It's maybe enough to cover one year-sallary of one guy
Is frontier bringing back console support????
I don't rhink anything but a total overhaul would bring me back to Elite. I was a lifetime backer and I haven't played in 2 years now. There isn't any amount of ships that will fix the fact that you can do everything in this 10 year old game in 30-50 hours. A living game needs to evolve l, and Elite just hasn't. The fact that the early access to this ship isn't free for lifetime backers and the fact they increased ARX prices, means I'll never come back. The only financial hope for this company is their management games at this point.
This!
i grinded forever to get an Imperial Cutter and when i had it it was like, what now...
Honestly better than Star citizen, you can do everything inside a single day in that game. Agree though, elites gotten rather dull

You haven't played in 2 years, yet here you are commenting on something that obviously doesn't concern you.
First new ship in 5 years and it's just a mk II of a previous ship? Hard pass.
Everything Frontier have done with Elite since 2014 has had minimal viable product written all over it. This is no different.
I couldn't quite tell but to me, the cockpit interior looked exactly the same as the Python Mk1.
I have a feeling there'll be many more to come, they're just testing the waters and see how much of a success this would be 😀 (to be fair the boost in super cruise is a nice touch) 👌🏻
@@ubermegIt's more or less identical minus a couple of very small details.
It's arguably not even a new ship at all.
Mark my words. Next they'll sell £60 engineered ships
If enough Simps buy this Mk2 it's a guarantee
@@Discovery2024-rn8kn yup and it seems like a lot of folks in the various content creator discords are perfectly fine with this. If you feel a sudden pit in your stomach, that's normal.
I’d buy that. Fuck grinding dozens or hundreds of hours for one ship lol Did it once and it made me quit the game after I engineered my corvette
@@ricky6608 yea but see the problem is the actual engineering is a shitty and broken grindy game mechanic. So it's artificially gating you from what you want to do and instead of fixing it to make the game more fun and accessible you're gonna choose the "pay 60 to bypass the gate" option? I dunno it just feels real scuzzy. Like a cellphone game.
I mean people pay over 1k on sc ships. Rather cheap in comparison.
Give me a Frigate class ship or give me nothing, I'll be sitting in my Imperial Cutter for the rest of time it seems.
At least the Cutter is a bask worthy ship, this certainly isn’t!
an imperial "ship of the line" or a "Federal Frigate" and then the "Panther Clipper" for Alliance/independent Systems would be nice
haha imperial cutter, the only good thing in that ship its cargo
A rated fsd sco incoming aswel
my CMDR remains forever in the Cobra MkII
The RMT cost is about where I thought they'd price the MK2 at, but I'm a little underwhelmed tbh. The ship is decent, but it's the first ship in YEARS. Nothing that really wows me.
and what did you expect, they are not going to put a ship that destroys all the others, the fun of the game would be lost
@leonardomiotti3181 I expected something innovative after all this time. No desire to change my whole setup for what looks like a side grade to some ships. Way too little to entice me to buy it, let alone grind for it.
@@Cloudz2021 what did u mean with, change your setup?
@leonardomiotti3181 As in whatever my current ship loadout is.
@@Cloudz2021 i dont understand why u will need to change your setup, maybe i don't understand what u mean; my english isn't good
So let's go over this: Can be purchased a quarter of a year before general access is available - Check Can be remotely sold and instantly redeployed at local station, effectively teleporting the ship in a fully configured state to current location - Check Can be flown in default configuration with no concern for loss costs due to 0CR rebuy - Check Contains modules that cannot be bought in the game at all (5A SCO FSD) - Check Did I miss anything, probably. Yeah nothing wrong with this at all. Along with other sudden monetization changes, such as out of this world increases to cosmetic items and therefore general devaluing of ARX, Elite Dangerous has in just a few short weeks gone from beloved game to a cash farming enterprise for Frontier Developments.
The video says the SCO FSD are present in the game for about few weeks and some of the viewers may already be using it. So I thought SCO FSD can be bought in the game... Did I get this wrong?
Contains modules that cannot be bought in the game at all (5A SCO FSD) - Check Well if you have been following you would have heard this module will come in game for all to buy :-) Can be remotely sold and instantly redeployed at local station, effectively teleporting the ship in a fully configured state to current location - Check Yes thats a possible move, but not a smart move.. My gus is you would change modules on this ship anyways and then that option is pointless, you dont get payed if you sell it either. And if you go and Engineer stuff on the ship then the option of selling and redeplying some where els also goes away.. And you would have to transport ships as we know
It has been that for years....almost every content drop is just the most basic thing they can do...Rinse and Repeat missions. Half the mechanics in the game do not work or have so little impact that they are ignored. The community that played this and made their own content is the only thing that kept this going. Now even the "old" guard fanboys are sick and tired of Frontiers Bullshit
"Along with other sudden monetization changes, such as out of this world increases to cosmetic items and therefore general devaluing of ARX, Elite Dangerous has in just a few short weeks gone from beloved game to a cash farming enterprise for Frontier Developments." $12.99 for 16,800 ARX is fine. Don't play Star Citizen if you are worried about using real money with a game.
Update on that 5A SCO FSD: now it can be bought in-game after Update 18.04
Super Cruise overdrive is going to make getting the free Anaconda way too easy
free Anaconda was cancelled long time ago.
No because of the fuel
Really cool how streamers got it for free now in game, but life time expansion pass holders have to wait till August to use credits. Slap in the face
It's the shill perk.
They didnt get the ship for free... They are playing on a Dev account for showing it of. Its not their own accounts
As a lifetime expansion pass holder, I don't care. All I care about is that I get it eventually and don't have to pay to get it. I can wait until August. I'm patient. And I don't regret at all buying the pass.
@@Nighthawk1983 ah, so I guess the streamer I was watching play on his own act where he showed he had gotten it for free, was just faking. Sweet ty for knowing for sure 😀
@@Viaharo as far as I know one one got it for free. So he might have payed for it I don't know but they where giving it to make content, but as far as I know it's not their main accounts it their affiliate account where they have access to all content in game
Wouldn't mind it if they added interiors
Will never happen, unfortunately.
I'd be fine if you can just walk around the "bridge" while on a run to Hutton Orbital.
Would be nice, I bet No Man’s Sky goes and puts interiors in all their ships soon instead lol I can see that bitch slap coming
Incorporating the interiors of the ships is very difficult, it is a great waste of time to program, and with the number of ships that exist, even more difficult
Keep dreaming, if they do add it's half ass job
SCO bypasses the travel time grind. That's a grind OA has covered in the past. Surveying systems and planets just got lots easier.
Super Cruiser Overdrive is ONLY available at Hutton Orbital
That old chestnut
Thanks! I went and also got a fully engineered conda for my trouble 🤗
Your last 3 videos are about Starfield, KSP 2 and now Elite: Dangerous. I don't know how you can handle such depressing topics one right after another like this.
Starfield is great though.
@@soulofachristian8704 It certainly isn't as bad as people pretend it is.
The super cruise overcharge is so much fun. Once I figured out how to actually activate it I had a blast. It was nice getting to prospectors rest in like 10 seconds
Couple of points with pre-builds: components cannot be stored; components cannot be replaced with modules from storage, only with modules bought new in refitting. Those modules bought new in refitting can then be stored and used as usual, though.
As I understand it, the specialised/engineered equipment fitted to this ship can only be used on this ship, so you can't get this and then decide to swap parts out to another ship. gotta say though it looks nice and passive makes using the sco much easier.
Indeed: modules in pre-builds cannot be stored, nor can they be replaced with modules you already have in storage. Replacing a component in a pre-build means going into outfitting and buying a module with credits that replaces whatever was in the slot.
A new ship you have to pay money to use to do exactly what you could before. Why?
Are you referring to the pre built ships? It's to give new players an easier start. The Python Mk II will be free in August, it's just early access what you pay for.
Cause they need to do "something" to keep at least some players that p2w soon. Re-skinning an existing ship is perfect, low effort and "high interest" at least for those people who still think frontier is going somewhere with ED.
Looks like the marketing plan is to give new players a leg up into the game - to someone fresh in a 32,000 credit Sidewinder, 50 million credits for a hull likely looks daunting; and perhaps to lure established players into investigating careers they've never tried through a bit of novelty, as with the mining starter.
@@First_Chapter So they created a problem and then sell players the solution? Good that most people are not stupid enough to fall for such logic.
@@commander_fu6457 Re skinning an existing ship? Tje only thing the Python Mk I and Mk II have in common is the name.
The independent factions need a frigate class ship
That SC boost would be good for miners ( if mining is still even a thing) coming back to drop off their haul. Less time in open space less chance to be interdicted.
The fact that you can pull away from a body so quickly with the SCO FSD is all I care about. For me, it'd golden.
Yes that looks very good. Being stuck in gravity well glue is just a game play pain.
Luckily you don't need a Pay2win Python mk2 for that.
And the pandora's box to Pay 2 Win is open. Remember history of cosmetic horse armor from 2006, and how that played out, yep...
I'm hesitant to give them my money after Odyssey. Mostly because Odyssey could be fixed, but they just took the money and ran. There's still day 1 bugs in there...
It won't be pay to win that ship, anyone flying it would get ruined in a PvP fight by anyone with A rated modules or engineering. Its basically pay to save a bit of time.
And please detail what you 'Win' because there is much winning in ED... it is Pay to Skip
@@frederickvondinkerberg7721don't be pedantic. Pay to win is a business model. It's pay to circumvent. They add huge time sinks, and then let you pay to skip them.
@@Droogie128So it's pay to skip all the crap that people have been complaining about. Yeay.
Great review!
Thank you for sharing. Thats a medium size ship with 4 large and 2 medium hard points, isn't that a lot of a firepower for a medium ship? And 6 utility slots?, thats insane, for a medium size ship (other than mamba and FDL). I guess the class 6 power plant do limit the amount of options to use in HP and Uility slots.
is it available to buy in Legacy Horizons?
Can have in Horizons if you buy it with real $$$. Can only buy in game if you have Odyssey.
Unfortunately you can only get new stuff in Horizons 4.0 and Odyssey on PC now! All "Legacy" support whether on PC or consoles has been dropped! 😯😂😐
@@tanner1ie ok thnx
Does that fast super cruise module only come with the ship? Is it exclusive or can we buy and equip it from any station to any ship?
SCO drive is available for since a few weeks. Class C only so jump range is pants. Not engineerable but that will change soon. It creates a lot of heat whilst this Mk2 seems not to
Do you have the option to change out the red colored Pre-built Python to other colors? Also can you customize engine color, add decals, switch or change ship kits...etc?
I have not played in over a year. This isn’t enough to bring me back lol.
It is enough to keep me away though.
Don't forget the feature they hinted at with the mk II is that it has a passive that allows it have greater stability while using the SCO so it is more controllable than standard ships
Easily pleased?
That's literally one line of code. Two at most. What a "feature"
It's a 5A SCO FSD, we only have access to the C class
Not something I really care about, but would be cool for more ships to have unique aspects to them in future
Even if they're minor like this one
I haven’t been up to date in a few years and I just seen this video but is this only for pc?
Yes, E:D no longer updates for consoles
so do lifetime members get any of this?
i thought it came with a huge hardpoint also, did they change it to 4 large
Interesting. Dig the super cruise overcharge. Was prolly a condition from FDev but I'd like to have seen the bridge interior.
i would see that shopping bag as a token of shame
Why,I see thrm as graet option for new players to learn game without worring about rebuy cost. Aldo I'm not sure how many newbies would want spend aditional money for ARX
@@fistsofsnake5475 I don't get why people pay to get stuff instead of playing the game, but they do and it makes devs more money than adding fun content. I feel like this is going to lead to every ship being for sale for real money, since it'd probably sell really well. they already doubled cosmetic prices, this ship releases earlier for people who pay real cash, I just see this as the beginning of the end
@@fistsofsnake5475 they already had that, its called "the starting sidewinder"
@@afaxmachine5045 starting sidewinder is well that, a sidewinder
@@fistsofsnake5475 yes, it can do anything. Perfect for new players to learn the game.
Sorry but I really want to give you a Monty Python "Get on with it!" push and instead of talking about this and that...show us what the thing can do when it's flying!!!
Is the pilot seat center or off set like the first python ?
Off to the left sorry, not right...
It's the same cockpit as the python
How do you get an SCO drive for the other ships!? I got all of those paid ones to support the devs, but I'm finding that Python a bit inconvenient for my purposes (exploration).
So basically a cash shop ship becomes the starting sidewinder/ not paying the insurance sidewinder. Also - the MK 2 looks to have 4 Large and 2 Medium Hardpoints
4 large, 2 medium, and 6 utility mounts like the Mamba and FDL... Paired with the Python's core and optional module sizes (if they are the same) this is one freaking beast of a ship.
@@bujtorm sadly the optional ones are only: 6, 4, 3, 2 and 1 x3
@@ninthkind Are the core internals the same at least? The Size 7 powerplant was the main appeal to both the Python and the Krait MkII, it's bigger than what the FDL or Mamba could mount, and that meant we could get away with an Armored instead of Overcharged (ran much cooler and was much harder to kill) on a full multicannon, frag or phased pulse build. I also wonder what the hardpoint convergence is, because the possibility of mounting 4 Pacifier Frag Cannons + 2x size 2 fixed frags, or 4x size 3 plasma+ 2x size 2 railgun setup, is now on the table. And I wanna see the burst damage the quad doubleshot Pacifiers can do... or what 4x size 3 Guardian Shards can do to an Interceptor.
@@bujtorm The powerplant is size 6 only, as far as I saw.
@@cmdrstevemcmaru7417 Yepp, power plant and powe distributor are class 6 in the MK2. It can't be as polivalent as the mk1 but its direct competition with the FDL
Very informative video, greatly appreciated. Was kinda wondering what it sounds like though. Also, no rebuy for ships bought with arx is definitely an interesting choice. It wouldn't make a lot of sense for them to have a rebuy, but it also kinda doesn't make sense for them NOT to have a rebuy, considering that's one of the penalties for death. I wonder what happens to ship components you personally add to the ship when you die. Is there an insurance rebuy then, or do you just get them all back for free? This may just be me, but I don't see myself reinstalling the game based on what we're seeing, but hopefully the powerplay rework will change that.
How long to Hutton with overdrive?
how a game about space ships takes that much time to add a new one?
I wonder what the new time will be on getting to hutton with supercruise overcharge now?
Have they made the orca a medium ship yet?
it's today that i find out about SCO. i really want to play this game it's so cool
I have just installed Odyssey and have no idea what the hell I’m doing. No idea how to pull up my stats or see the active mission, no idea how to get a rental ride back from an outpost when I take one there to collect a package. You don’t seem to get a ship when you start the game, it’s completely impenetrable to a new player, I have no clue how I’m supposed to even start getting into the game..
There are some playable tutorials in the game, also there are new Players Beginners Guide videos etc here on youtube
Can you buy the corvette and also can you equip a fighter bay to the python mk2
Optional slots: 6,4,3,2 & and 3 class 1 slots. Advanced planetary approach suite you can't take out so 2 class 1 slots.
Sounds like I'll come back to the game in August
I just purchased this ship and it was fully kitted out all modules filled in. No engineering on anything that i can tell. There is a 0 rebuy on the ship though if you use the modules given to you. The frameshift drive does have a comment on it but not sure what it means yet. "featuring experimental overcharge capabilities"
I havent really played the game in years, I was grinding deep core mining to get credits to build a exploraconda and set off, when mining was nerfed hard. I might consider playing again if a decent exploring ship is a reasonable price
Diamondback Explorer. By the way there are a lot more ways than mining to make some decent credits.
@@cmdrandreyuenari4150 back the mining was 120m and hour with my setup, which was very basic
that super cruise booster should only be available at Hutton Orbital
I assume you can engineer the pre-losded modules e.g. shield boosters but then wont be able to transfer them to other ships. Also an interesting change of the rebuy mechanic
SCO needs to be offered in Colonia. Explorers out here are left out
I put my explorer Commander on a bubble-bound carrier. Simple.
Cant wait to get mine! Arx store is currently down though so cant buy arx😢
ok, I havent played ED in a bit, but i am paying attention to these prebuilt ships, so at best it the $10 pack for ARX, and at worst you need to buy the $25 ARX pack. Generally Im against games that suddenly change their monetization models, But for this specific game, i dont think its that bad, maybe im just used to checking in on Star Citizen and seeing ridiculous prices. The fact that you can only ever get the same modules that you bought on the prebuild ship still means the prebuild ships will never beat out the ship people grind for and have experience with.
Re-skined old ship making Mk1 obsolete after a massive boring thatgoid war. FD knows how to do everything in reverse 😂
Hahahaha. I'd LOVE to see OA break the 4th wall doing that with White Dwarfs/Pulsars. Surfing the Pulsar freeway is about to enter the next dimension....
I haven't played in YEARS but will the SCO is going to render the Hutton Orbital trip a mere triviality?
Do we get these for free if we have the lifetime pass?
How long does it take to do the Supercruise Overdrive to Hutton Orbital? Python 2 looks very nice indeed! Enjoy
Less time than it takes to grind enough credits for an Anaconda
thanks for the review bro'... I'm a patient guy and I'll be waiting until Aug 7th when it will be available for the in-game cash... congrats on your 5.8 Bln on this account... the only thing I'll be spending real money on their shop is to buy me a carrier if they'll ever make it available for Arks, as I've been crying for it since I started ED... is the first new ship in 5 years..??.. when was Mamba introduced..??..
Gee, a reskinned python, what a revolutionary and groundbreaking new addition to the game. Something we’ve truly been waiting for. It brings a single solitary tear to my eye.
I know I completely agree with you. I'm so excited. I haven't slept for days waiting for this.
Can you strip the prebuilt ship of modules (store them), self-destruct, then redeploy to get a new set of free modules? Then you just distribute those free modules to the rest of your fleet to get any special effects/engineering and reduce rebuy cost across the board. This is possible right now with the starting sidewinder, but its modules aren't really worth enough to justify the effort.
You can't give those modules to other ships.
@@Neo-vz8nh thats good
@@rags707 yes
Modules in pre-build ships cannot be stored or replaced with items from your storage. You can buy a module in refitting with credits that replaces a selected module in the the pre-build and that bought item can then be stored etc. as usual.
Is this for console too
I use to love this game, but it got way ovrer complicated with it ships, purchases, and insurance. It became more of a drag to be looking for the right loophole to get the best deals on ships.
Can you buy a 5A Achilles FSD in game? 🤔
You can play Space Engineer and build that ship in 5 hours
It's confusing on the loss compensation mechanic you mentioned in the video: they replace the ship for free on loss but is that ONLY with the original equipment provided at purchase, what about engineered items you add to the ship yourself???? I wonder if they even thought about that? LoL probably no........ figures!!!!!!!!
Honestly it resembles the gen 5+ from the movie Stealth then the darkstar.

Wait could someone help me understand: can you buy the new Python just in game like normal? Or is the only way to buy it with actual money?
The only way to purchase it between May and August is with real money (it will be available from 7th May). From August it will be available to buy in-game with game credits.
My understanding is it’s only obtainable by purchasing it outside of the game.
This was an exclusive preview to the ship for Partners, on a test server. - 7th May the public will be able to purchase the Python MK2 as an Early Access (or BETA test depending on how you look at it) via real Money on the Elite Dangerous Store. - 7th August the Python MK2 is released to everyone in-game and purchased normally with IG credits only.

No.
Almost certainly
The python mk2 isn't cash shop only. Early access to it is.
And we slide down the slope
God... how far the mighty have fallen. I remember being so invested in this game that a couple years ago, I was flying a type-7 out to a region attacked by thargoids to help rescue civilians, but ran out of fuel & needed to call the rats. The rat who came to help asked me what I was doing & I told him, and iirc he commended me for my courage & wanting to help people. Genuinely never been so immersed in a game before in my life... But ever since Odyssey dropped, I couldn't care less about ED. Sad, really...
How does insurance work on these P2W ships? If their supposed target demographic is new players, they’re going to blow the thing up on the way out of their first station and won’t have the cash to float a rebuy. I think the real target for this ship is for creators and people who can’t wait a few months.
Thanks. I have all the gear but still can't drag myself away from cars back to my 1984 favourite's offspring. I have yet to pay for extras like the paid ship, but, but but but why the heck shouldn't I start now - if you want it, pay us for it. I even have Skywalker pedals that are too wide for my 160.40. I think I need, Need I say a dedicated cockpit for space sims. Plenty of room in the front room of my council flat. Plenty. Peace 07.
ED a game of nothing but new ship skins every couple of years...
I swear, the abysmal quality of Frontier's releases over the last few years, makes me wonder if Braben just lost any personal drive in the company well before his exit as ceo in 2022.
He never had genuine personal drive since inception, all about money now
I'm excited to see what they do with Elite... but at the same time I'm hesitant to even try to get back into it with all the missteps they've made in recent years. I've purchased, for cash, quite a few things in the shop over the years... paints and trinkets and whatnot, but once they made it impossible to PLAY without the mind-numbing GRIND to just fly your very expensive ships around... I stopped playing entirely. Playing for 20 hours to recoup the insurance cost for losing one of my BIG ships because payouts were so abysmal... That was the end of it. It's like advertising, I simply said NO MORE and moved on. That was shortly after the whole "Thargoid" thread began when they just said "F YOU, GRIND!" ... So, now I'll wait and see, as I have for years... I don't know if they can ever recover enough to make it worth my time at this point, with Star Citizen advancing so quickly... I'm afraid, in Elite's case... it's just going to be too little, too late. But who knows? Maybe they can make it fun again. We'll see.
Sit on the sidelines and watch videos... OK!

Get VR in the on foot game and then they will have done something. No money till then.
This new thing of Frontier treating creators like partners is weird. I wonder if they have new members/management.

No. They canceled it. There is nothing to neglect because the game is dead on consoles
@@cmdrls212 wasn't dead before they stopped updating it.
I played ED since 2013 and ended playing last year. Now they are taking money for bringing a new ship after 5 years. This is ridiculous. I guess i'll the next time i'll touch this game will be when we have ship interiors. Anyways, nice video dude. o7
So can I fly with no buy?
Seems like it
In August, yes. I mean you'll still need in-game credits like any other ship, but no ARX/real money will be necessary.
If you pay for the early access ship (available from 7th May, I believe) You'll only have to rebuy any additional modules and module upgrades you put onto the ship. Rebuy won't include the cost of the ship itself and any of the modules that come fitted as standard. (Similar to the free beginner sidewinder, I guess) So if you keep it as it is when you got it and don't change any of the modules, it will have no rebuy cost... but it'll also be a basic version of a ship.
Looks perfect for no-risk player killing. Buy it, kill new players and anyone not kitted out for combat, respawn anywhere with the ship.
Gankers and griefers paradise. Ship was announced 5 months ago, initial spark excitement dies down long time ago
It looks like a whale shark on dry land.
It reminds me F-19 stealth fighter )
More like J-20 with a Su-34 style cockpit.
I'm sorry, a cash purchased ship? What kind of dystopian future did Elite get into after I quit?
😂😂 bye
Earliest ive been holy smokes
