Really enjoyed your video covering generally all types of skin problems like aging and discoloration products you displayed will be of great help
Good video. Do not agree with 11:13. it is wrong to say people can just clean their face with water...noONE can clean their face with only water, even someone who hasnt been out the entire day, here is why..the oil produced by the skin can trap dust, bacteria and other polutants that turn into free radicals elements that damage the skin cells. It is paramount to clean your skin properly and sofly to avoid any skin barrier damage. Besides that, good video. Cheers
How about those that live in humid countries like the pacific? It’s the summer season for us here and the humidity is beyond anything. I try to wear moisturizer but it just always gets wiped down from my sweat. Is there another alternative? Or am I just stuck with having to keep reapplying after each time.
@@Emz1738. I think you have to tell your skin type, what moisturizer you are using....Moisturizer are meant to keep moisture in your skin...if the air is humid, there is already moisture available. It is rather when the air is dry that you need to seal the moist inside
Another important thing to mention is that your skin is only going to be as healthy as you are. A perfect skincare routine can’t take the place of getting enough sleep, eating a decent diet and taking care of your mental health. You really need both.

Cleansing your face regularly enhances its appearance. Use a good face cleanser and clean your face twice every day. I use only riiceberry face wash by litlextrra because it actually has the right pH balance and is very gentle. This prevents acne and provides my face a glowing and improved look throughout the day. Having fresh fruits assists maintain hydration and maintain your skin's health. Applying Vitamin c serum also improves complexion. Perform this consistently and notice the outcomes yourself.
I was in search of an budget face wash for my mom, who has dry skin. I had heard about this brand, Littleextra Rice Berry, from my friends, so I chose to order it. It comes with a good smell, and the face wash works well. It does the job, leaving a pleasant smooth skin texture following use, and she likes it.

I have followed this routine (minus retinol) and it’s completely changed my skin!! So good. This is 3 months in
To sum it up, the four simple rules are: Rule 1 - Moisturize twice a day. - Find moisturizer that rehydrates skin, replaces natural fats and proteins, and keeps the skin barrier intact. Rule 2 - Use a sunscreen every day - Use sunscreen that's a broad spectrum. Rule 3 - Use a retinoid - Retinoids reduce wrinkles, reduce uneven pigmentation, and make our skin cells regenerate faster. Rule 4 - Use a cleanser - Cleanser helps remove excess oils.
dope summary, remember to add -For spf its better to get a normal spf and use it than to get a high spf and never use it -Retinoid generally safe but can cause redness so best to check with dr if you can be prescribed it
Using retinoid should be used with a caution, as it can cause bad side effect if used improperly e.g skin irritation, purging, skin burning... It also need to be used pea sized only, not too much... Must avoid eye area, otherwise it can cause serious dry eye... It also must be avoided for pregnant woman. So many precautions
Thanks for the kindly made notes
So what procedure should i follow??

I feel like less is more for a lot of people. I stick to very basic skincare and my skin isn't perfect but it's improved!
I don't have any skin care routine, it is meaningless. Just avoid the sun at peak hours and you're fine. Skin care is an invention by the beauty industry to sell a bunch of products to you that does nothing whatsoever.
It's actually benefitial to stick to these essentials, because more products means more ingredients, which in turn, means more possible allergens.

I've quite literally researched skin care for like 2 months to create the perfect and most minimal skin care for myself and you just summarized it all in 1 video. WHERE WERE YOU 2 MONTHS AGO?!? Edit: Vitamin C (in the form of L-ascorbic acid) is also a great addition to skin care especially in combination with a retinoid treatment. By combination I don't mean mixing the two, I mean using vitamin c in the morning and retinoid at night or vitamin c one day and retinoid the other
Yesss I’ve been using vitamin c in the morning and niacinamide + hyaluronic acid at night
@Sniper vitamin c serum is meant to be applied on the face. It's a leave-on treatment, so neither is right lol.
@Sniper consuming sodium ascorbate in Klenner doses titrated to bowel tolerance too will even out & brighten the skin. Can never go wrong with VitC be it topically, internally or as enema or snorting or eye drops etc.❤️
It's so confusing to try to find a good vitamin C that isn't super expensive. There's so much info on how vit C degrades then it's pretty much a pro-oxidant rather than anti oxidant. Trying to find out which brand actually has the most stable formula, while still being strong enough, oh and then whether it should also have vit E or ferulic acid...
Lmao, minimalist skincare tips have been on youtube for years- he's basically reiterating what's already been said

I’m a 55 year old dude who has been using a moisturizer with sunscreen and retinol as part of my morning routine for a good 15 years. A small dot on my fingertips, then applied next to my eyes (sides and under) and forehead. I have zero wrinkles or other weird stuff on my face. It’s an easy habit that yields amazing results, and I use so little product. I can’t recommend it enough.
I see your photo and I believe you.
you obviously had amazing skin to start if you only started 15 years ago and have zero wrinkles, however, maintaining steady body fat throughout life does also help in keeping things filled in.
I’m sure we’d all love more evidence-based personal care videos! Especially teeth and hair
Agreed! Here's what I've gathered about hair so far: • To prevent or stop any further hairloss for men: (1) Finasteride • To foster hair growth itself (incl. beard): (2) Minoxidil and (3) Microneedling • Reducing scalp tightness (botox) and increasing blood flow: (4) Scalp Botox (targetting the hairline and crown) and (5) Scalp Massages using pinching, pressing, and stretching techniques
all toothpastes except sensitive toothpastes are the same. So if you don't have sensitive teeth every toothpaste is effectively the same. Use mouthwash before brushing and never after because mouthwash washes out the effects of toothpaste. And finally the most important is don't rinse your mouth with water after brushing. let it remain for 10minutes for the effect of the chemicals to kick in
Evidence based? This guy didn't link any of the studies. I'm not buying it
@@fraai The evidence is in his bank account - called a sponsorship agreement and paycheck.

FYI about retinoids: they increase skin sensitivity to sun damage. So don't be tempted to wear it during the day, and absolutely make sure you wash the previous night's application from your face in the morning and, as Ali says, always wear sunscreen.
In one of her videos Dr. Dray actually talks about this and debunks it. Apperantly retinol does not increase photosensitivity, however some forms of retinoids degrade with light therefore the benefits of retinol may potentially reduce if you wear it during the day.
Still, I agree, always wear sunscreen regardless of using retinoids.

one of the best skin care videos I have. I usually leave this topic alone because, as you said, it can be overcomplicated. This video is helpful!
its simple: cleanse moisturise sunscreen and if you want to incorporate anti aging: retinoid/tretinion
Absolutely. You can also add Vit C, peptides, glycolic acid and hyaluronic acid.
@xTRXPx What kind of radiations are you talking about ? Blue light ?
@xTRXPx Oh then you're talking about cellular waves and Wi-Fi. Nothing can protect against that unfortunately. Blue light from screens also can make skin ageing, just think to turn on your blue light filter if your device has this feature.
@xTRXPx Man, your phone gets hot because the components of it are naturally getting hot while in use or when recharging. There are no radiations coming from tech devices like power plants emitting radioactivity...
@@enlilw-l2Actually you can protect yourself from that. Russian Shungite is good for it.
Okay. You had me until the cleanser part. I think most dermatologists would agree on the fact that cleansing your skin is a very important step in any skincare regimen; the thing is… yes you’d probably could get away without cleansing your skin in the morning but when it comes to the evening it is absolutely recommended to wash your face ‘cause splashing water on your face won’t get off all the dirt, sweat, pollution and even sunscreen (weather if it is a water resistant sunscreen or not) that is left on your face at the end of the day. If you leave all of those things on your face and then apply other products on top of them and then lock them up with a moisturizer, you’re very likely to develop acne and as a result of this post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and I think it goes without saying that none of the things you apply on your face won’t be doing much which is the opposite of what you’re looking for when engaging on a skincare regimen. So yes, cleansing is a important step on any skincare routine, at least when it comes to the evening. But I enjoyed your vid, the most part of it.
Yeah I was going to say. Cleaning twice a day is unnecessary but once is important
Thanks for the info. But i wonder, If I don’t go outside at all, will I still have much pollution on my face and would I need to cleanse my face then? I usually wash once a day, but sometimes I forget to.
he prob said it was optional because he uses a retinoid and that basically just does everything. clears acne, gets rid of PIE/PIH, removes exess oil
@@imthecoolest50 it is still recommended to cleanse your skin even if you don’t go out side; there are other things you need to get off your face besides pollution such as the excess oil your skin naturally produce, sunscreen, dirt, etc.
its actually more important to have a cleanser than a moisturizer lol

Thank you two for this clear cut, precise, and to the point video.
I recently got into skin care. I noticed when I stopped eating high amounts of sugar, or any at all, my skin would be much clearer. Also drink lots of water, that helps a ton!
skin care products are bulshit
Same! I dropped my old diet when I started eating a lot more sugar and my skin had a massive drop in breakouts! :D
I have found this too. My cystic acne is connected to my hormones and sugar disrupts my insulin ( which is a hormone). Interesting lowering sugars also decreases glycation that can be part of the aging process of the skin. So I am on a low carb lifestyle and feel better. I wish I knew this when I was younger.
Not only sugar! You need also to focus on fats like chips, crisps etc. Believe me, you will notice the difference 😉
that's all you need. sure using a cleanser is good to stop acne and dirty but all these sunscreen block bullshit, you'll end up deficient of Vitamin D

Not to be a downer but honestly I feel it's unfortunate how common it is for men not to listen to women on things like this until another man says the same thing. My boyfriend have been the same way (though he hasn't seen this video). How is a women skin drastically different from a man's??? Like with Jordan Peterson having a mass following of men in their 20-30's. He tells them to 'clean your room' and they eat this stuff up but these men have mother's that no doubt have been saying the same since they were little boys. Point being, it's sad that words have more weight to a man when it comes from another man.
@@inesdasilva518 you’re not a downer. I had the same thought when I read her comment. Men can be soo wack. They end up missing out as a result though
It's so annoying, when people are stubborn with things they haven't even tried. These same people complain to their Dr that their skin is peeling, and are surprised why they don't look half decent in photos. Rant over.
@@ericae.6547 I mean, the same can be said about women. Not saying you're wrong, but advice given to women by men are often ignored unless a prominent female influencer, artist etc says the same thing. People are just more likely to listen to people they identify with. A man identifies more with another man, so he'll be more inclined to take their advice. Same with women.

Really great video that I sent to my daughters. I have been promising them to write up my skincare routine bc I am 64 and have wonderful, clear even-toned skin and people are often giving me compliments and my female friends of the same age have asked me what I do. But as you show so well in your videos, if you have not been protecting your skin from the sun since you were young, well the sun damage at 50 years of age is obvious. I moved to the Gold Coast, Australia when I was 20 and that’s when I saw what the sun did to your skin. The women all wanted a deep tan but they had crocodile skin when they were older! I have my crinkly eye wrinkles (my smile lines) when I laugh but that’s character. I can only agree: regular, continual skincare with these products (I also use Vitamin C serums) WORKS!
This skincare video is the only one needed on on KZhead! Simple, effective and productive!
I just want to say, I’ve battled with acne and bad skin my entire life, spending thousands on dermatologists and their expensive products. The routine and advice in this video has turned my skin around in 1 week. I’m using tretinoin 0.5% at night and if I see my skin start to flake then I don’t use it the following day. I’m using cerave am and pm moisturisers and and the hydrating cleanser. Big thanks to Ali and your friend in this video. My life is changed 🙏🏽💪
I suggest adding a hydrating toner to add more moisture if the flaking still persists after a long period of time of using tretinoin. Toner is like electrolytes, you don't need it on a regular basis but when you're dehydrated, it really helps gain the moisture back in at the rate that moisturizer can't do. I have acne-prone skin and the Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner has improved the dryness a lot since I started using tretinoin, and if I want, I'll use not just 1, but 2, 3 layers if I feel like my skin is still dry. Then I'll follow with my moisturizer!
Get your gut health in check and eliminate toxins and free radicals from pretty much everything we commercially consume inject and use and are exposed to. Your immune and lymphatic response manifests itself in skin conditions and chronic disorders and issues. Just throwing it out there if you find your product stops working, instead of working laterally trying to rationalize why instead you'll look at the lowest common denominators and root issues, the worst that could happen is better health. Cheers

Dude I have been using tretinoin for 6 years now, ever since my acne was at its peak, and now I barely have any scarring. Not only did it clear me up, but it faded my post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and my skin is also glowing because of consistent moisturizer. I never imagined it could get better, but it did, and because I stuck with it. Good luck on your skin journey!
@@Kata_Rin I never had any acne but now at age of 28 I have acne and I become anxious because function is there in 1 month , scars is there and 4 active pimples should I let it go naturally or use tretinoin ? Can u suggest or leave it as it is .......and depend on parlour makeup to hide scars ?
Class video! This is the kind of straightforward, easy to follow advice that I like, I would have been happy leaving a paid for appointment with this advice. Thank you, I now have my new skincare routine
I completely agree with everything mentioned in the video. In addition, if you care to have one more active ingredient, add Vitamin C to your AM routine, before putting on moisturizer. Helps brighten your skin and minimize dark spots.
Don't forget to change your pillowcase and bedsheets regularly as well. Doing so, combined with my skincare routine, greatly reduced my breakouts.
How often??
@@rikrik4181every week or two weeks max
Ur very right have also witnessed changes im the breakout after doing it
Thank you, really useful and simple, I will definitely follow this, it's so hard to muddle through what you're actually supposed to be doing from all the endless conflicting and marketing resources out there!
Thank you for bringing in all the boys -- I am now finally convinced. Will start.
tried these for 6 months or so already:) no nonsense, it just 'WORKS'. Thanks man!
Really man thank you glad to hear it. How long do you let the creams/lotion on your face before going to the next one?
If you use a sunscreen, a cleanser is definitely not optional. Double cleansing is actually the way to go if you want to get the SPF off of your face as much as possible. Nice video though 👍🏻
and the reason for this is that the SPF oils will cause breakouts, right?
@@mydearriley yes and its generally just not good to keep that on your face. Pretty sure a single cleanse is fine tho unless you're wearing makeup.
Could u explain in simple terms, i dont understand
@@Onodera05 Well actually a lot of people say that you need to use two different types of clensers when you are clensing your face. Double clense is the fancy term for that. I think the koreans bought that in. The idea is that when we are wearing sunscreen and make up blah blah etc etc there are so much of dirt, grim and oil in our skin. A normal clenser usually removes everything which is soluble in water but aparently there are also more dirt and stuff like oil which is soluble only in oil so you need something which can pick up these oil as well. So for that people tend to use micellar water or an oil based clensers. Thats it but when we are not wearing any make up and just some sunscreen i guess just clensing with a clenser is fine. Like try clensing with your clenser and then whipe your face with a white towel. If you still find dirt you probbaly need to use the double clense else you are fine. I am fine with clensing just one. I feel this is just some marketting trend. For light make up like lipstick, eye liner and mascara maybe some concealer i guess micellar water would do
@@pavithras1146 thank you for the explanation, rlly appreciate it.
Thanks man You actually explained and expanded why anyone should use these products Rather than suggesting me 30 different types of products that can get my condition worse.
Hey Ali, can you please tell me if its normal that I feel slight burns and tingling after using cerave pm moisturizer. I use it after cerave oil cleanser and differin. Is there another moisturizer you can recommend that can’t give me these side effects. Thanks.
I clicked so fast because of the title, just to see ALL of the products I am already using. I needed this confirmation I am doing it right :)
Can you pls write the all product here

Thanks for being so helpful man, appreciate it!!
Great video! I like this concept of boiling it down to the basics. I've loved Cerave cleanser and moisturizer. Because even though I'm very crunchy I saw dermatologists and skin care specialists pointing out how low-risk of irritation Cerave products are and convenient and affordable enough at drugstore. Many crunchy products have essential oils which can be irritating. A step that could be worth adding at least for people who sweat or use sunscreen and/or makeup is double-cleansing. This very popular method is still simple. It just means before the cleanser cleansing with some oil. I use simply one ingredient - jojoba oil. If someone really wanted to be sure they are cleansed after the double cleanser (for example if they wear very heavy makeup), they may want a toner. Also for people (of any gender) who shave, wax, or sugar their faces - some before/during/after care products may be useful such as pre-shave oil, shave cream, something soothing.
I subscribed Ali since the start of this channel. Feels so happy to see Ali grow so well and now whole world knows Ali now as Productive Guru 🙏🙏
I’m SOOO here for this Ali Abdaal skincare routine! I recently went to a marriage talk recently and the speaker was talking about how women “crave masculinity” and said “because I mean c’mon ladies, let’s be real - how into a guy would you be and how would you feel if you went out and the guy starts talking to you about his skincare routine?” I just said “…I would be impressed!”
I would be impressed too! My boyfriend is super interested in skincare and I recently got him started on a gentle routine curated for his skin type by me. He is loving the difference so far - he says his skin is way softer and he is sold on doing skincare now. I can’t wait until I can get him an exfoliatior too.
Especially if he talked about how it's an evidence based skincare routine 😎
Wow. If the speaker started talking about that, then she/he doesn't know much about marriage at all! That's very superficial.
We want it. We wanna discuss about everything about skincare fashion and makeup with our SO. It would be great
@@arihaviv8510 Same! 😂😂
self care is one of the best way to express self love. Thanks for sharing :)
Simple, “doable” and no BS…thanks for the advice!
I love both the science vulgarisation and the self-care content! 🙏
Yes! Finally, skincare explained without 'fluff-and-stuff" that actually has scientific backing but in an easy to digest format. This is something I feel I could actually share with ANYONE and not just fru-fru girly people. Thanks!
Love how he just goes to the point 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This video was what jump-started my skincare routine! Easy to follow making it easy to start.
Perfect timing - I was looking at what to buy for my skincare routine - always great content
This was great, thanks again Ali!!
Exactly my routine! Though I add vitamin C in my moisturizer evening and morning for brightening effect
One thing to note about skincare is that the effects are often never immediate. Sometimes you won’t even notice the changes until several months later! Last year I had a terrible breakout which caused hyperpigmentation, pimples and milia. After doing much research, I’ve finally narrowed down the perfect skincare for my individual needs. Despite my diligence, I still didn’t see my hyperpigmentation fade until 4-6 months later. Consistency and diligence is key and you cannot skip a day or two just because you’re tired. If you keep at it, you will eventually end up seeing the results you’ve wanted.
I would say cleanser are not just optional. if you're using sunscreen (especially waterproof sunscreen), you really need cleansers to help clean out your pores and to avoid sunscreen from sticking to your face.
I personally have not had acne problems while wearing sunscreen daily and forgetting to use my cleanser for a week. It definitely depends on your skin. For me, it is optional, for others, it may be necessary.
Do those seemingly mild cleansers work on sunscreen?
yes what on earth is he talking about. baffling.
i think it depends whether you have dry or oily skin
@@zakkhan6054 no if you wear sunscreen you have to remove it
Well explained. Thank you for bringing up this video. Financial education is indeed required for more than 70% of the society in the country as very few are literate on the subject ..... Thanks to Gianna Everett the lady you recommended.....
As of last week I counted on $5,000 but don't just know how to diversify it.
Wow, you know Gianna too? I thought I'm the only one she has helped work through the fears and falls of the forest. Her trading last week was amazing and the strategies she applied were mind blowing...
That's true, I can't imagine the profits people are making daily by just trading.
Please I'm new to this, how can I get her assistance??
SHE'S MOSTLY ON TELEGRAMS APPS WITH THE BELOW NAME
Instant subbing to this guy, he just got straight to the point first second in the video
This video confirms my skincare routine is good already, less is more! Btw you rock those ace & tate glasses. (I work there and I love spotting our frames in the wild haha)
This is a fantastic video. I'm a skincare freak, and this is a great, simplistic, and straightforward explanation of skincare. I'll have to show this to my boyfriend to convince him to apply sunscreen religiously. Thank you for making this video!!
Amazing intro, thank you. everyone should be making their videos like this
Ugh, after going through 1x videos you are 100% correct.. it's simple but hard to wade through all the BS. The most important things are genetics and what you put INTO your body, stress, how much fresh air, exercise and (limited) sunshine. It's more about how you live than what you put on your face. Bad lifestyle decisions hurt you much more than the sun.
Ali is now a skin guru?!?!?!? What has this world come too 😂
I think he is creating a CULT 😝 with all the sheep now no matter what he posts

You are 100 percent correct. I use all the items you mentioned and my skin is way better than ever.
Great information, and I understand this video is mainly about raising awareness about skin protection and avoiding photodamage, however it is also important to point out that you shouldn't be using just any moisturizer or sunscreen: there are different types of skins, and using the wrong product could lead to other skin issues.
