CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Moses (Charlton Heston) parts the Red Sea for the Hebrews to escape the Egyptians' pursuit.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Based on the Holy Scriptures, with additional dialogue by several other hands, The Ten Commandments was the last film directed by Cecil B. DeMille. The story relates the life of Moses, from the time he was discovered in the bullrushes as an infant by the pharoah's daughter, to his long, hard struggle to free the Hebrews from their slavery at the hands of the Egyptians. Moses (Charlton Heston) starts out "in solid" as Pharoah's adopted son (and a whiz at designing pyramids, dispensing such construction-site advice as "Blood makes poor mortar"), but when he discovers his true Hebrew heritage, he attempts to make life easier for his people. Banished by his jealous half-brother Rameses (Yul Brynner), Moses returns fully bearded to Pharoah's court, warning that he's had a message from God and that the Egyptians had better free the Hebrews post-haste if they know what's good for them. Only after the Deadly Plagues have decimated Egypt does Rameses give in. As the Hebrews reach the Red Sea, they discover that Rameses has gone back on his word and plans to have them all killed. But Moses rescues his people with a little Divine legerdemain by parting the Seas. Later, Moses is again confronted by God on Mt. Sinai, who delivers unto him the Ten Commandments. Meanwhile, the Hebrews, led by the duplicitous Dathan (Edward G. Robinson), are forgetting their religion and behaving like libertines. "Where's your Moses now?" brays Dathan in the manner of a Lower East Side gangster. He soon finds out. DeMille's The Ten Commandments may not be the most subtle and sophisticated entertainment ever concocted, but it tells its story with a clarity and vitality that few Biblical scholars have ever been able to duplicate. It is very likely the most eventful 219 minutes ever recorded to film--and who's to say that Nefertiri (Anne Baxter) didn't make speeches like, "Oh, Moses, Moses, you splendid, stubborn, adorable fool"?

@@RepentJC native indians in the americas never heard of jesus christ before 1492 , how could they confess that jesus is their lord and savior? did they all go to hell ?
@@TL.... All people are accountable to God whether or not they have “heard about Him.” The Bible tells us that God has clearly revealed Himself in nature (Romans 1:20) and in the hearts of people (Ecclesiastes 3:11). In reality, it is not that some people have not heard about God. Rather, the problem is that they have rejected what they have heard and what is readily seen in nature. Deuteronomy 4:29 proclaims, “But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.” This verse teaches an important principle-everyone who truly seeks after God will find Him. If a person truly desires to know God, God will make Himself known. God is a good and just God, and as Abraham said, Far be it from you to do such a thing, to put the righteous to death with the wicked, so that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from you! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?” Genesis 18:25 God will not send a innocent native American to hell.

*From what I read on a Filming website* the Red Sea parting was accomplished by filming water as it poured down two sides of a U-shaped tank, and then playing it backwards. This made the water appear to divide. The illusion of keeping the walls of water separated was accomplished by filming Jello being sliced close-up. Then double-exposing everything with live-action footage of the Israelites walking into the distance with the Egyptian chariots in pursuit.

I thought this was the coolest scene from this movie.
Super sister
Sad thing was that despite God's showing his power and signs, israelites were disobedient and turned away from God countless times, and he let them experience the pains and consequences of that disobedience.
And still stayed there for them to turn back to Him. Ultimately every knee will bow and tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
True. Number of times the Israelites disobey to God's commendaments.
He literally called them prostitute. L
Which is still to this very day!!
Jesus Christ is not God. God is God.
When you know a movie from 1956 looks 100 times better than a movie from 2020
You're not kidding. A masterpiece
Charlton said if this movie was done today it would cost 223 MILLION.DOLLARS!
﴿ فَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱضۡرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرۡقٖ كَٱلطَّوۡدِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ ﴾ [ الشعراء: 63] Then We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Strike the sea with your stick." And it parted, and each separate part (of that sea water) became like the huge, firm mass of a mountain
I absolutely love the effects they used for the sky. it looks so unreal, yet “inviting”
Check the three women on the rock in the Cloudy sky at about .22 seconds in.. it's very quick shot but it's really great
Damn THE EFFECTS LOOKS SOO DAMN GOOD
Still impressive after all these decades.

God is love my dearest friend lisa Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal
My mom took me to see this movie in 1956 when it was first released and we went again when they released it a second time. That parting of the Red Sea still gives me chills and has never been done better. In fact, this entire movie stands alone as the greatest version. If it is ever released again, do yourselves a favor and go see it. It is an awesome production.
ohsnapiam59 It can only be appreciated by seeing it on the BIG screen...not an HDTV but the real BIG screen!
I agree. I have it on DVD but I have seen it in the theaters twice...awesome.
QuantumRift The real BIG screen, shown on real film projectors and NOT digital projection!!! Digital conversion, and even video conversion, does something to the imagery that wrecks some of the matte shots.
ohsnapiam59 I don't like the new version of the 10 commandments. I will stay with the original version.

This movie will never ever get old! No one else has ever done a better job at portraying Moses! Then Charlton Heston! ❤️💯
He's still doing our battle for us amen.💖💖💖💖💖💖💖👏👍✌️
Anybody here on Easter 2020? I used to watch this every Easter or Easter eve in the late 90s.
Watching the movie right now, this and Ben Hur are easter tradition here in Mexico, i've seen them atleast once a year as far i can remember
lmao I'm here mate
Once a year also it's refreshing to watch a real motion picture once in awhile. I even imagine what it was like to be on set or in the cast. It's now a time long gone :(
Present!
Praise the Lord it's so wonderful
I doubt the romans thought that when they were drowned.. I doubt all the kids who drowned during noahs flood didnt think your lord was so wonderful.. In fact he isnt wonderful. he is a genocidal maniac!.
Here's another scene from the "Ten Commandments," Moses parts the sea in half and with those unforgettable words, "Behold, his mighty Hand!"
I Saw This Movie Saturday Night on ABC & i don't Care how old this is! This Movie Still Looks Amazing! I don't Care what's The New Gen Kids Said! I Can Tell why they never Make a Sequel! This movie is too Perfect to Ruin!
Incredible, that these special effects hold up better than some of those that have been put out 17 years after the new millennium. I was genuinely captivated, especially when the waters part, because you have to wonder whether that's actually what a parting sea would look like.
Every time I watch this scene, it's like seeing a painting move.
Right its cool
It was one of the best special effects in cinematic history. At that time, there was no CGI and this scene that gasp, wowed and amazed the audience. God is Good and He always will be. Amen. ♥️
Love the 10 Commandments with Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner and All Star Cast it is still absolutely 1 of the top best movies ever made.
