ZIL-131 navigates the backroads of the U.K. It's a mass production 6x6 offroad truck used by the Russian army. Surprisingly, it's powered by a petrol engine.

Actually, it's more or less their version of the mighty Deuce. 6x6, low "power" insane torque engine, and the ability to go offroad at tank speeds. And it's nice to see one just going down a road versus extreme offroad. I'd drive it to work everyday. :D
That's the best sounding engine ive ever heard.
My dad bought 3 of these and 4 UAZ's from an auction. They're wicked machines!
круто
Zil 131 ingeniería Soviética. Viva Rusia hoy mañana y siempre. Urraaaa. Urraaaa. Urraaaa. 💪👊✊🙏👏😘👏❤🇷🇺❤🇷🇺❤🇷🇺
thats a proper offroad beast!!
Damn that's one tough ass truck I want one of those
Dude, that is one tough truck Freakin thing climbs fairly steep hills with minimum effort
What a beauty! :).
it sure sounds like a beast. great video
Old is Gold!
Damn! I want one. Outstanding truck!
WOW!! I gotta get me one of these! AWESOME!!!
I love that V8 sound, very good off road driving.
you gotto love the sound they make
In Soviet Russia, road goes off-trucking!
this is SO COOL!! great driving!
she's blowing a heck of a lot of smoke but it's still awesome
U remember when collased central government my dad 2 zil and 1m39 locally called James and 1 fiat 6x6 tm after 30th years still running great quality American muscle Italian Soviet trucks and you can see every where you go our country people are using for transportation all the year rainy season or dry season
damn, that thing is fuckin huge! imagine seeing that thing barreling down the trail towards you! wow, what a beast!
Thanks very much for clarifying!
Agreed, I want one of those
I love this truck!
Outstanding!!!
I've driven zil-131, 5.4liters V8, insane gear for offroad! Finnish army uses these also. Very handy in case of EMP.
In Poland-from Military Property Agency. they sell well preserverd cars with little distance covered.
the best 6x6 by far
@peepeevagi I'd have to agree there, that Zil-131 looks like the kind of truck that could go through even the soupiest of mud bogs
that's some nice looking offroading country.
Awesome 👍
what a brilliant machine
very strong and powerful offroad truck
awsome cars... so heave, but so good grip ...
kickass!
Very good points, but the old Russian trucks I've seen with diesel had pneumatic starters on them. Also some of those ancient diesels could be started on petrol and switched over to diesel when they got up to operating temperature. I would still love to have one of these trucks!
one day im going to get one of these, need a bigger drive first though ;p
Id love to own one of these here in the states. Which do u guys think is better Zil 131, Ural 375, or Kamaz 4310?
@spencnaz Wrong.Ural 375D uses a 7 liter petrol engine,ZIL 131 uses a 6 liter,more precisely a 5969 cc engine,power output is 170 hp @ 3600 rpm.The 7 liter ZIL 375YA engine however can put out a bit more,180 hp @ 3100 rpm.
owns the world!n damn!! 6x6
Actually its not that surprising that they use a petrol engine. Those trucks are made to deal with the worst conditions such as winter in siberia. As you might know diesel freezes (without additives) at around -10°C but petrol freezes at -60°C.
@bassblair11 That's because during the USSR, military equipment took top priority and all good designers and engineers got hired. Civilian products were not even given take the backseat treatment. For instance, they used high quality concrete to build submarine bases, but used the worst concrete to build apartment buildings, many of which were intended as "temporary housing" for a decade or two. They literally fell apart. All high quality steel went to tanks, cars got the worst components.
love it, but where do you get spare parts from?
well you hear it comming for a quater mile away. you can´t miss it. Expect if you don´t hear anything at all of course.
@Henzzman I believe the engine in this truck is 7 liters, so that works out to about 420 cubic inches or so, I'd call that a big block.
Yeah, no kidding there That Zil 131 for example was built to stand up to some really Harsh conditions
I bet you could take that Beast into the soupiest mud bog you could find & it would refuse to get stuck
This metall "hooks" on the wheel is a automatic air fueller. Whenn you shoot the tire and destroy , than are the pressure very fast back and you drive you way ... . Xuse me, my english is not so good. But I know this truck from the east german army NVA.
the ZIL sounds just as it looks: BAAAADASS TRUCK GET OUT OF MY WAY OR GET SMASHED.
nice v8 sound
Best Russian Invention so far :D
Maybe it's fuel consuption is litte high, but it doesn't matter how much load is on it, 'cause if there's 20 tons in behind it will go 100km/h on road (just like with no load). However the nowaday used trucks have the same fuel consuption when used in offroad, but they will not run after 40 years spent in "frontline" with minimal needs of repairing...
is that a v8 petrol or a sick straight 6
This truck is made to last a vry long time in OFF-ROAD conditions. It's not made to race around on the highway. And the engine is underpowered to make it last longer, the same Zil 6L produces over 300 hp in other models.
where's the mud?! This track is way too easy for this truck! It did this track on his socks, hell, the ZIL didn't need his 6x6, it wasn't a challenge for the ZIL! ZIL, best offroad truck ever!
Yeah, but in the last few years Mercedes 8x8 trucks have been beating Tatras in Truck-Trial. And when the Ural 8x8 was competing, it won 2 years in a row...
Its not mud, its a highway for this truck!
@Cosso009 Oh yes! U are absolutely right, especially URAL, but what about KAMAZ or KRAZ trucks?
Now I'm Proud to be a russian!!
Anything russian military wise is good, regardless of it's age.
URAL, ZIL, TATRA and GAZ 66 the best!!!!
KRAZ (kraz-214, kraz-255) it is made in Russia in the city of Yaroslavl! It was called then YaAZ (YaAZ-214). Later (1959) manufacture have transferred to Ukraine. Ukrainians new have not brought anything in construction of KRAZ.
nice vid -)
not petrol, multi-fuel. it's rated at about 34L/100KM, or around 7-9 MPG.
Takes A man to drive these things..
that's why we got the leading economy huh?but i do agree partially
its over 100l/100km, in army we got one to eat almost 200l/100km :D
You are right, saying all this about KRAZ,but KRAZ is ukrainian truck.(these trucks are made in Kremenchug that not far from Poltava)
That is surprising they would design that truck with a petrol engine. It would be cool to have a comparative test between this truck and its American M35 equivalent. I would guess that they'd compare pretty close.
Ive Heard it goes max speed about 160 km/h :D
One mile per gallon?
damn i wonder what the low range ratio is on that
V8 Big Block engine !
Though i'm not sure is the engine Diesel or Gasoline
I Want that engine in my Honda LOL
id like to own one of those but as an army transport for shows
Diesel fuel freezes solid so if you're operating in Siberia you'd be better off with petrol !
The guy who took this video reckons 40l to 100km, I'm more inclined to believe you though!
System of regulation pressure of air in tyres
not the 131. is does, however, come in a multi-fuel version. half petrol, the other half anything that's liquid and is flammable.
@Cosso009 oh yeah KAMAZ 6X6 is a real deal. Simple but tough. Only if i could find an URAL 375 up for sale. That would be a dream come true
Ural is the best
wat truck is that
wow, not the slightest problem, it looks like its burning oil or something though, it shouldn't smoke like that.
Mialem takie cudo w Armi na Stanie Kompani pięke AUTKO
I am not talking about economy.I'm talking about your mentality.
OK, but can it get airborne like Rambos truck did in First Blood ? I am thinking it probably could , if Sly Stallone was driving it .
that, was some badass shit! and uhh.. hyi
Its powered by gasoline from military - even in deep shit place tou could find some gasoline - diesel fuel must be good quality, and diesel engines are not so strong to use bad fuel and not too strong for using it in hard enviroment. Its sounds very cool, but they are very rare on streets - big, noisy and not green for ecology. BTW - last ten or two years they could be powered with diesel too.
i need one
