    • Yusuf Ali translation: Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all). Pickthall translation: Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great. Shakir translation: Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great. ) - Quran 4:34

  • This is the same situation for most Indians when we go North! But we all love each other's cuisines! • @@amitjose3739 Indian culture (and movies) are quite popular... there's also another thing, proximity with indians, there are a lot of south-asian workers/expats there, people will pick up some of your language. I'm not middle-eastern, I'm moroccan (north africa) and I'm learning urdu and punjabi (online tutoring, nobody can help in my country lol) this year because I love the culture. Why urdu and not hindi? Well, it's not really about the script, I know they're quite the same and people understand each other. I like qawwalis so that's why I'm learning these languages and I know you have overall good poetry, arts... dang, I even want to learn Sanskrit someday eventhough I'm not even hindu hahaha (muslim), my dream would be to be able to read old hindu scriptures in their original language. For punjabi, I'm using gurmukhi because I'm also interested by sikhism, I've read a book about them and it was quite fascinating, so qawwali+culture in general+ my interest for other spiritualities, I love to know and read about how people worship God.

    • Hahahaha. All of the west makes fun of India? Bro, I'm living in the west, trust me that view is far from reality. All my friends tell me how good Indian food is, every German knows a favourite Indian restaurant, apps that specialises in delivering ONLY Indian food are extremely popular. On food delivery apps, Indian food is the first type of meal you can order. You've been listening to too many Western comedians but not enough real life people living here, most are respectful bro, don't worry.

Our culture, the way we dress, our demeanour, our accent, you name it. And that's not okay, but it's honestly pretty much what the west has been doing since the beginning of time. They're racist against Asians as a whole but cherry pick parts of Asian culture to obsess about. Just another example of the West being the West. Edit: You won't believe the number of times I've heard, "Oh you're from India?Do you speak Hindu/Shit on the streets/Work as a tech scammer?"
