// Lyrics //
Out in the loading bay light
Watching the fog recede
Divided the flame you slowly gave to me
Sign of relief in my mind
But I only caught you the one time
Later I’d watch you and wonder what it was like
How do you bear the full weight?
How does the long way feel
Kneading your hand too tight against the wheel?
How do you stay in that tower?
How do you reckon your own power?
How does the wheel not turn hour on hour on hour?
I was trying to find my way
I was thinking my mind was made
But you were making my heart change shape
It’s all that I could take
As someone who loves Bon Iver, The National, Fleet Foxes, and Hadestown, I AM FREAKING OUT OVER THIS COLLABORATION
Same. Amazing! Tears of joy
This reminds me so much of The Band 🤘😏✌ one of my faves from Big Red Machine 💑💑
Its CRAZY, right?!?!?!
If you told 14-year old me back in 2011 that Fleet Foxes and Justin Vernon would be on a song together, I would’ve been like “Shut the fuck up!” Yet here we are.
Feels! I also just shared this with my boss! Career limiting move or career empowering move?! Watch this space…
Can’t tell you how many times I wished to hear these voices together in a song, thank you for making a dream come true 🥲 love y’all!
agreed
Whoo. I'm thankful for Taylor for introducing me to this band.
Same ! ❤👍🏻
YEAH!!
ditto!
Same
Same
Robin Pecknold seriously has one of the warmest voices I've ever heard
The male Karen Carpenter? Not quite.
Robin and Justin are singing together...one of my dreams came true...
I still can't believe it. ❤
@flerb Robin Pecknold is the lead singer of Fleet Foxes, another great indie band. Check out their songs Mykonos, Helplessness Blues, and White Winter Hymnal!
@@dakotabloom738 I think Blue Ridge Mountains is my favourite
Yes! A thousand times YES!
For all the people thanking Taylor for the introduction...it was her collaborations with Justin and Aaron and even Jack that got me listening to Taylor at all. It's awesome how the collabs worked both ways.
Fleet Foxes is a breath of fresh air every damn time.
If you like this song go buy the album SHORE!
Cage Templar grip gang
Shore is sooo good
buy fleet foxes' entire discography honestly

“I was thinking my mind was made but you were making my heart change shape.” 🤝 💯 🙏🏽
Thanks for the introduction Taylor!!
When I saw Fleet Foxes, I knew I'd like it.
Amazing. Incredible. Magical. Heavenly.
Imagine Lord Huron and Big Red Machine collab.
Omg….yes. I now need it. Thanks.
I would prefer with Sufjan Stevens 😊
The beginning has "dorothea" vibes and I'm here for it! 🤭😍
Exactly!
Yeah 🤩
Well spotted! They used the inspiration well.
@@gerstaunton5147 well dorothea was initially intended for this album
The comment I was looking for 🤭🤭
This is like The National, Bon Iver, and Fleet Foxes all mixed into one, fucking incredible!! Edit, for those responding: It's not "literally" that. This isn't the full The National band and the full Fleet Foxes band + Bon Iver all playing together in one big group.
that's because it IS
@@mstango816 literally
And Lord Huron please
And what's your point ?
Has the horns from Fleet Foxes, and sounds like it came straight off their most recent album.
When I first heard this song, I couldn't get it out of my head. I played it over and over. Robin has such a mellifluous voice, and Anais just put the cherry on top. Just beautiful!
Robin has the most articulate singing voice ever. His enunciation is absolutely incredible. Recommend the live from Boston they've uploaded to their KZhead channel, I seriously prefer his voice there over several of the studio versions.
Agree, and check out the rendition done by them on the Colbert show. Its cool to watch Anais emote as she sings it
I know them because of taylor but i stay because of their wonderful music
Oh my God, can we be friends?
Me too
For me it’s the other way around, and I’m so enjoying being a new Switfie 💙
Jannatul Sofia yes we can
The National has been my #1 for a decade and a half, and it's really cool that they're getting the attention they deserve. Makes me happy to know that they were her favorite too. Keep in mind that there is so much amazing music just under the radar and has been for years so feel free to check out these bands that Taylor has been a fan of, and follow the rabbit hole down all the artists they've all collaborated with. The National, Bon Iver, Big Red Machine, Fleet Foxes etc. is a great start. You'll be glad that you did.
I am a native-born Phoenician and a huge Fleet Foxes/Bon Iver fan. I just saw FF in concert at the Arizona Federal Theater and they preformed this song. I always felt our city never got enough shout outs in songs, but then this gem came along. I am honored our city inspired such a unique hit.
I’m just here for Robin’s voice ❤️
Anais and Justin harmonizing
Robin Pecknold my beloved
Thanks for existing
"But you were making my heart change shape" just beautiful
Robin's voice + Justin's voice ... heavenly
The best song released by any music artist in 2021 thus far. Beyond Incredible!
can't wait to listen to the album
Feels like I'm back in the 70`s and I like that. Smooth tune right here.
Robin's voice in this masterpiece brings me to tears. I had this track on solo repeat all day.
can't wait!! thanks taylor ....i loved brm now
I'm going to sue those people who's gonna dislike this masterpiece.
Maybe the most anticipated song of my life after hearing the preview on Reddit
Swifties ❤
🥸
Who would have thought four of the most ingenious songwriters of the 21st Century could come together and make an instant classic? Anyone, I guess
Already listening to Phoenix on loop, it’s such a gem! 💎
Just recently discovered and now im looking for any excuse to play it
A beautiful song - and the live version on the Late Show with Steven Colbert is excellent.
FLEET FOXES OMGG
BEAUTIFUL. ❤
Fleet Foxes. yes.
Oh, more Justin Vernon and Anais Mitchell singing in tandem, please. Their voices are just perfect together.
Listen to the Hadestown concept album if you haven't - he sings Orpheus to her Eurydice!
Fell in love with this song in a split second. Glorious.
Each and every song till now is a masterpiece!!!
I haven't cried in a long time. This is beautiful and emotional. Thank you. Love from Ireland, GB.
You can feel your soul healing I swear
Agree!
*Such a beautiful song. Literally sounds like heaven.* 💕
I love this collab. “I was trying to find my way. I was thinking my mind was made, but you were making my heart change shape”

YESSSS A ANOTHER MASTERPIECEE
This is good one folks!
Big Red Machine is the most aesthetically pleasing band
Hi I recommend a song called 'Where I Come From' By Robert Nix
imagine never listening to fleet foxes until now..
Amazing. The National + Bon Iver + FF.....forever.
this song hits differently when I'm in the rural area
I got chills when Justin and Anais started singing! LOVE!
This is the combo Spotify Statistics built. Had all these artists on MP3 before streaming, beginning with Mitchel in 2004 with One Good Thing, and then Vernon when For Emma came out, then I got Fleet Foxes on vinyl with the download. Then my hard drive started to die and my record collection started its own dust collection, but I ported the playlists I had from my mp3s over to Spotify as soon as I could many many years ago. So, these folks have been woven algorithmically together for a very long time in the primordial data pool, not just from me, but from every other Paste or Pitchfork reader from our time. I have no idea how these people know each other in real life, but they’ve known each other for a long time in my music mind. Our generation made Facebook is what I mean.
Yess I've been searching for this song for a while after hearing it at Red Robin lol
I have a feeling i’m gonna love the album already, i like this and all these lead singles so far Congratulations and Thank you for good music Big red machine
I saw a Fleet Foxes show in Grand Rapids and they played this song. I would have to call it a cover song on their part because the song tonally sticks out from them rest of their catalogue but I'm glad they played it.
Okay this one is the ONE. Get ready for Phoenix, everybody, and play it FUCKING LOUD.
We heard only 4 songs and 4 of them are masterpieces. I'm so impressed & overwhelmed I can't actually hold the feelings for the album
I love this song so much.
Perfect open air song 😎
Beautiful song. Great use of pianos and horns. Sounds like a modern take on 70s rock ballads.
LOVE this combination. Justin just has a way of bridging the gaps. Bringing in Fleet foxes and Anais Mitchell=Brilliant. I cannot get enough of this Album. Beautiful lyrics.
Ok. This song is giving me an early 90's vibe song.
ok but like IT'S ALL THAT I CAN TAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you all of you, crying, smilling and singing
Nostalgia
Goshhh!! All the songs that our out already are so gooooddd.... The album is gonna be so gooodddd for sure!!

Happy One Year to such an amazing album. Definitely one of my favorites 🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊 Has The Band vibe
One of my fav songs released this year. Everything about this is gorgeous
Nice melodies and harmonies. The lyrics must mean something to someone.
INSTANTLY loved it!!
It somehow reminds me of Knockin' on Heaven's Door💙
Oh Robin, you never fail to amaze me.
cant wait cant wait cant wait
All my favorite artists coming together
Very easy on the ears 💯 "I was trying to find my way, I was thinkin' my mind was made, but you were making my heart change shape" Insanely good song
Let's support BRM the way we supported Evermore/folklore which they contributed a lot. I mean, A LOT
Anything that has Robin Pecknold in it is gold.
This is gonna be amazing!!!!!❤️
