  • The only player in league history to win back to back titles without another top-75 teammate...is Kobe. The only players in history with two or more postseasons of 500 pts., 100 reb., and 100 dimes are Bron, Bird, MJ...and Kobe. Only players in history to have career averages of 25 pts., 5 reb., 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals are West, Bron, MJ...and Kobe. Most assists at SG...Kobe. Only players to win a scoring title and make All-defense 1st team in the same season are MJ...and Kobe. Most All-defense selections overall is Duncan...then Kobe. Last 40 pt., 10 reb. playoff game in Lakers history before AD did it...was Kobe. With Team USA on the brink, They were saved by D-Wade...and Kobe. Most points at 30 or younger, Bron...then Kobe. Oldest to score 60...Kobe. 2nd most all-star selections...Kobe. And finally, only 6 players in history have 10 straight postseason games of 25 pts. Butler, LeBron, MJ, KD, Shaq...and you already know. Stop playing with this man and his legacy, you've never seen ANYBODY separate their right shoulder, continue to play left handed, and still get buckets. You've never seen anybody more skilled, more poetic, more creative, more refined, in your life. Nobody.

  • Long overdue. I was eight when Kobe won the dunk contest. Eleven when he and Shaq won first of the 3peat. From a basketball aspect, Kobe gave my hometown of Los Angeles a lot of bragging rights. The perfect embodiment of Hollywood. The glitz and glamour of flashy plays along with the grit and grind of behind the scenes hard work no colloquially known as Mamba Mentality. My childhood hero, adult role model, hometown icon, one of Los Angeles’ favorite sons. Mamba Forever.

  • Its only fitting he receives a statue. As a man that grew up in Downtown Los Angeles. A few blocks away from the house that Kobe build (Staples Center) I can tell you that this man single handedly raised the spirits of what was once a forgotten area. The Pico-Union area found hope in all the championships Kobe brought to town. But more importantly is the strong work-ethic he displayed on a day to day basis that inspired a whole generation to do more with their lives and reach for higher goals. There is no doubt Kobe saved lives. If you look at all the murders that were going on in the Downtown Area prior to 2000 and then after you will begin to see what I am talking about. A lot more kids picked up basketballs and put down guns. So for that Kobe we thank you. Much love from this Pico-Union street kid that you inspired to do more, to reach higher. May you rest in heaven Champ. 🙏🏽✝️

People hated him for taking tuff shots at times, btw still made them shots look easy, but he knew he would have a better chance/shot if he took it rather than passing to a teammate he seen brickin the whole game. • I was living in Charlotte (still am) when he refused to play for us and went to L.A. Spent the first 10 years of his career rooting against him just 'cause it was fun to vilify a polarizing player. I let it go when he went 6-24 in Game 7 of his last finals. It too late in his career and the season for him to muster anything against a top-3 defense, but he had 15 rebounds--8-9 of which were him fighting for the ball over bigs or just giving more effort than everybody--and he actually had the presence of mind to give the ball up to a guy who was not a shooter (Arterst/MWP) to clinch his last chance to win in the sport's biggest rivalry. It was the way he still impacted the game with aggressive attacks (11-16 FT), defended like he hated the other player, and was in the mix of every play that made me think he was one of the last warriors left in the game. I still think that.
