Felt like smith spoke to him at half time because in the first half whenever we put a cross in Wes wasn’t even waiting in the box, second half he was in there waiting to get on the end of everything, should have buried that chance at the end though

I am pro-Wesley, and I thought he held the ball up well this game and allowed are players to get forward, however, I believe Al Ghazi could do a job for us as a centre forward, he occupies a lot of the same space that Wesley does and his finishing is decent. We could have a front three of Grealish-Al Ghazi-Trez, maybe not every game but as an option.

Highlights pretty kind to Newcastle - awful side. Playing 541 in any league is way too negative. Good result for Villa although I wish Wesley had converted that chance just for a little confidence. Great to see a positive style of play and midfield of Douglas Luis, Hourihane and McGinn supporting Grealish, Wesley and El Ghazi provides a good balance. Nice to have Nakamba as an option also. Rough run of fixtures ahead but fingers crossed for some more decent performances!

People complain about grealish not getting into the England team, yet hourihane can barely start a game for Ireland, it annoys me so much as an Irish villa fan, because I know what he's capable of and I'll always keep faith with him, top player and top professional
Problem is villa are miles better than Ireland in terms of 1-11 and he is surrounded by grealish etc at villa so he is enabled to do well here.

@@darylboag2590 Grealish has a free role even though he's out on the left. So you can't push JM further up the pitch in my opinion. All we need is a decent striker or two. Wes is never a lone striker but nor is Mcginn. The only way you could play JM as a false 9 is to play 4-4-2 but that is never going to happen.
@@villainofthepiste5858 That's the problem McGinn is playing in a deeper role almost a defensive midfielder that's why Villa bought Nakamba and Luiz defensive midfielders McGinn is a box to box midfielder but his real strengths is a attacking midfielder you play to a players strengths . If you look at the highlights video of the match Villa v Newcastle .The long pass from Mings to McGinn against Newcastle in which he nearly scored 25 yards out was almost identical to the pass against Spurs in which he scored around the 20 to 25 yard area facing the goals .Deano needs to change the playing formation to allow McGinn further up the pitch. McGinn has proved that he can play as an extra striker at international level 7 goals in 4 games for Scotland . Play McGinn up front with Wesley at least until we buy another striker in the January transfer window. Grealish is a great player but Deano is trying to promote him for a English call up which is understandable and he should be in the English Squad but when you have a player that has proved himself at international level as a striker you don't put him in a deeper position MAN U 2 VILLA 2 UP THE VILLA
Mcginn plays along side Hourihane with Luiz/Marvelous as defensive cover!! He's just not got the same space as in the CL or playing for the National team. The PL is a lot faster than both...hence he's lacking in goals this season in my opinion

McGinn is a quality PL player . A player can't score goals if he's playing as a defensive midfielder . International level football the pace is just as fast as the PL . Dean Smith is trying to promote Grealish into the England squad Deano adores Grealish . I make a prediction if Deano insists on McGinn to play this deep position for the rest of the season next season he will not be at Villa as a Manager you can not show any favoritism for a player . Grealish is very good player but McGinn is a better player he's proved it at international level UP THE VILLA

Need more quality in the final third. Alfredo Morelos, Ollie Watkins and Jarod Bowen would be perfect additions. All would cost about 20m each. Kodjia and Wes are not good enough, and Jota lacks the pace and strength needed. UTV

Well done great result. Sorry but I’ve lost faith in Wes. He reminds me of Heskey. Just good hold up play. We need a prolific striker. Tammy was the man. Had we had him in this team, we would of seen off Liverpool, Arsenal and co and been sitting comfortably in 5th.
Have to disagree on Wesley, while I don't think he's the finished article I think his hold up play and work rate allow us to get goals from all other midfield positions. He's only 22 and I believe we should stick with him. There is a reason Heskey had 62 England caps and praise from all the strikers he's partnered without being prolific himself.
tonzie17 yeh but if you can’t rely on your striker to get you over the line in some games then I smell trouble. Yeh we getting goals from all our midfield but my point is we should be playing with 11 men making a difference not 10. I’d rest him. Get Kodjia in.
Sanj Villa I understand your points but, although I’ll always love kodjia, he’ll never offer as much as Wesley does in terms of a high press and bringing other players into that game

Agree. His first touch is terrible on occasion. He NEVER creates chances for himself. Our trouble is- Davis is the same type of player (Neither of them have that spark in front of goal). Kodja has but is lazy as f***!
