MEET the brave couple that share their home with a playful two-year-old COUGAR. In 2016, Alexandr Dmitriev and his wife, Mariya, decided to adopt a young cougar called Messi and raise him as a house-pet in their small, studio apartment in Penza, Russia. Messi follows a strict grooming routine to ensure he doesn’t make too much of a mess around the house - he gets washed in the bath, has his nails trimmed, his teeth checked and he receives a special brush-down every day. The big cat eats twice a day with a diet consisting of turkey, beef, a bit of chicken breast and some bones. And with a growing social media following of 250,000 on Instagram and more than 2 million views on KZhead, Messi has become a local celebrity.

Tom Joad although usually I’m against having wild animals like this as pets, this is an exception. They saved its life, and there is no way it could be released in the wild. I think they know what they’re doing. They’re making sure he’s healthy and happy. The thing seems more docile than most house cats so I think it’s fine. Even house cats will be wild if you don’t work with them as kittens.

So they only give him meat, and they are brushing him almost daily because a fur ball would be a serious health problem for him. i’m from russia, and i see every video they create (also interview, stories and lives). messi less than another ordinary cougars also he has health problems (reason why he can’t live in wild) and was born in a zoo. when mari and alexsanr saw him he was sick and needed expensive treatment. since birth messi constantly changed houses and therefore he find alexander and mari like a home. please, this couple saved his life for love, they love him and messi loves them too.
Taria Ann, his affection for them is obvious. He was one very loved cat.

Hi Hello, no, typo. He’s very much alive and still very spoiled. They moved into a new house at Christmas/New Year. Kira just got home now too. She’d been with Grandma while the upstairs finishing work was completed. They’ve also taken in a cheetah who was having difficulties in the circus where she was an animal performer. Cheetahs are social, but the others were ostracizing her and stealing her food away. Her trainer liked how well the Dmitrievs have worked with Messi, so she gifted Ichel to them. They have videos of her on their channel too.

I spent my entire life living and working in mountain lion country in the Western US and have rarely seen these beautiful cats. I’ve been followed by them a few times on snowy mountain trails, had every hair on my body stand up when I’ve heard their eerie, crying baby like sounds, but to actually live with one would be something!
This video shows us that animal adoption is entirely different from the exotic pet trade, and this couple seems to know how to take care of Messi and love him very much... He is happy, healthy and is affectionate towards his human carers, that’s all that matters...
The couple now own a huge house with land so that’s a nice change for the cougar!

Greg Kuchta - obviously - i mean like a sanctuary where others like him can have a more natural environment. This cougar is stuck in a studio apartment - if that strikes you as natural then you are sadly mistaken. Even an enclosure with 3000 sq ft would be too small - but having things to climb up and scratch and small animals to hunt would be more suitable.
That regular cat is very brave to be living in the same apartment. The fact that it’s hairless makes it look more like a meal.

They claw and bite the hell out of their owners and hate human contact, even treated as well as they are. Every cat has its own personality, just like dogs. All animals are like that, but it's especially well-known in domestic cats. It's not always how you treat them, some cats just enjoy being dicks. My friend has a she-cat that's very aggressive, even though they treat her well. I couldn't count how many times I and my friend's family members have been bitten and scratched by that cat just for touching her or trying to touch her, and with zero warning.
