Of course they’re gonna play hard defense and foul him, it’s the only thing you can do against him. Tennessee doesn’t have a guy who can play actual defense on Zach edey, or else they wouldn’t need to foul

We're playing great." Perhaps, any of the players could have said either of the above. Why doesn’t Edey get called for many fouls? He doesn’t hack. Hands straight vertical 90% of the time. What do opposing teams do to Edey? Swipe, hack and push. Teams that attempt more shots in the paint, tend to take more FT’s. It’s that simple, but smooth brains want to look at a box score and blame the refs. Smh

    • @@smithyamiami From my perspective, both teams played with the same level of physicality, but Purdue shot 33 free throws and TN shot 11. That is a crazy difference, and did not reflect the game I watched. Admittedly, I ref HS games, so I see it with a certain eye. It also is hard to second guess refs who are right there. But 11 to 33 says that my statement is accurate. If you honestly believe that TN got away with a lot of fouls, and this was a fairly called game you are not being objective IMHO.

    • @@thecellulontriptometer4166 Just because two teams are playing with the same physicality, does not mean that both teams will end up with nearly the same number of free throws. Fouls are mostly called when the offending team crosses a line with their physicality. Tenn had no answer for Edey and took chances to win the game. Unfortunately, it did not work as the officials caught Tenn crossing the line too many times. 33-11 is large difference, but it is not an official's job to keep score of fouls, and even them out. It's to keep the game fair by enforcing the rules.

If Edey did what was done to him, it would be obvious and he would foul out 5 times down the court defensively. Kineict sure got a fair share of questionable foul calls as well. If anything, the refs were not “letting them play” if you’re looking for a more finesse, high scoring game.
