Alita Moses, winner of the 2014 Shure Montreux Jazz Vocal Competition, was invited by Al Jarreau to join him in singing a Gershwin classic during his set at the 2015 Montreux Jazz Festival after opening up for him previously that night on the Montreux Jazz Club stage.

  • This man is one of the best. I'm from New Orleans and the first time I saw him was at the Warehouse and I was hooked. Took my boyfriend, my sisters, my friends, all at different times, but each time , they all became fans. I myself saw him 6 times the last at the Jazz and Heritage Festival and he still sounded wonderful. RIP Mr Jarreau you're missed but your music lives on😥😍

    • I saw him a few weeks, before he passed away, in Frankfurt Germany the last time. It was still more live and fun in this concert than modern music has in it. An old guy who just had fun and loved what he was doing till to the end. Excuse me my english..i dont know if its right in grammar etc. 🙃 Learning by doing😂

  • I met AL Jarreau backstage at the Lancaster Preforming Arts Theater, me and my wife took pictures with him talk with him he's such a delightful man Al told me me was a native and live near by when I hear of his passing Feb12th 2017 when the lord called him home it was a very sad day I remember praying for family and said another "Great One" gone home. I have all of his albums. Al Jarreau is truly missed by me because I loved the things that he could with his vocals and a true entertainer. Much Love Al Jarreau until we meet in heaven.

But then you realize that there are just no words to describe the artistry, harmony of these two artists at work. This one is for the ages. Generations to come will still share the beauty of this song with us. AWESOME! Welcome Alita Moses.

  • First time hearing an upbeat jazz version of this tune. Outstanding job. I've thought that jazz was different and this proved it to be one of the best upbeat version of the original version written by George Gershwin back in the 30's. I consider that this tune was a part of the original slow blues/jazz tunes. I'm sure George is happy to hear different versions from his original score.

  • Janis Joplin has always been my idol, Jesus first, but I haven't sang this song in so many years it hurts me. Summertime was my forte, is my forte. They don't allow music where I live. That's pretty sad seeing that I've been a musician since before I was born. Noticing on my birth certificate my parent's occupation as musicians, and to think I actually live in such a city. Well my singing days will be over soon and I hope it's not too late to find a place that will allow music once again. It's a dying art. Unless you're into rap which I am not. My ex-husband deceased, my guitar player, had one song that he wanted me to record. If I could only record that song , with practice of course, I will have fulfilled my promise. I haven't heard Al Jarreau since 1989. This is quite a treat. I was working. I've never been to a concert and also hope to do that before I leave this earth. Thanks to Al Jarreau for making this possible and thanks to KZhead! I can hear Al Jarreau sing Summertime and make up for all the concerts I never got to see because I was on stage supporting a family. You know my hair caught on fire too and it was bushed out and very long like Gino Vannelli in 1979. Thank God they put me out! I love jazz and I love to scat. I need a place to jam.

  • I wished I could've gotten the chance to experience Al Jarreau in concert. I grew up with his music in the 80's before I ever knew what jazz was. His music made me feel so good as kid growing up. Hearing his voice brings back some good memories! This was a great performance!!! WONDERFUL🤩☺🤗😎🙂😊👍
