Habs fan here, it does look like a concussion. If he woke up after the regular season not feeling well, but could practice lightly, that indicates a head injury. These things don't happen right away necessarily, can get it a day or two later. And you cannot rush a player back on the ice. And the problem for the Leafs is, until the symptoms pass he will not be cleared, and that could be 1 day, could be the rest of the playoffs. No one knows.
Nylander was rocked in Florida second last game then finished off in Tampa last game of the season. Keefer made a huge mistake by playing both Nylander and Tavares as Marner should have sat out last 2 games of the season. Nothing to gain but Matthews 70 goals which ironically did not achieve.

I've had a concussion before and it's no joke. You forget what you are doing and where you are every 5 minutes to go along with headaches and nausea for days. It's a truly awful experience.

Exactly. This dude has shown that he plays through everything in his career. For him to miss the first 2+ games of the playoffs means that it is something significant. The series is ties 1-1 and Leafs are about to have their home stand. I think the best coarse of action is to sit him game 3 which will give him another 2 days off until Saturday.

I believe he has a swollen/prolapsed disc problem in his spine causing referred pain- can crop up anytime for anyone out of the blue- painful and numbing, especially when radiating down the leg...just the way he looked when he did his earlier gentle skates...

im 58 and played jr A hockey and the gear that is supposed to protect you is now weapons i was at national gym the other day and could not believe the size of elbow pads and shoulder pads and how hard they are we used little cooper shoulder and elbow pads made of leather and a little plastic on the shoulders not to mention the knee pads and i know cause i loved clipping guys getting up with my knee pads skating by

Typical protocol for concussion. No symptoms at rest go to treadmill. No symptoms on treadmill you can skate. No symptoms during skate you can play. If at any point symptoms return you go backwards

I think the issue for all the “hate” Nylander is getting isn’t because we’re all mad and “it’s the playoffs he HAS to be there” because the truth is …yes Nylander is a good player and he would be nice to have out there playing right now but he’s not the best player there is,the Leafs have proven they don’t need him to win a game,and they rely on Matthews WAY MORE. The issue is they won’t say exactly what is going on with Nylander….because based off what little has been said all we see is an “undisclosed” injury from a player who was fine all season and now that the most brutal time of year is here and we don’t get that 11.5 milli until we show up healthy next season now there’s something wrong BUT he’s still out on the ice with players when it’s not game time. Just confirm the issue and be clear about it and the majority wouldn’t be so “hard” on Nylander. I’m not saying,I’m just saying…… …🤷🏻♀️
Nylander already proved himself to be a solid playoff player. He controls the puck in tight quarters and makes it look easy. Leafs miss him significantly, especially on the power play. Without him, their power play sucks.
