Thanks a lot for watching and safe journeys!
For anyone's information in the comments in reference to the ongoing and unpredictable conflcit in the Middle East, Kazakhstan is NOT in the Middle East, this is Central Asia, an entirely different part of the world with an entirely different culture. It's not unsafe or unstable and he left the Middle East over a week ago. For reference, parts of Kazakhstan are as far north as parts of Scandinavia, and the city of Almaty is just a few hours drive away from China which is not on unfriendly terms with Kazakhstan. The Middle East is a strictly defined region around the Levant and the Arabian Peninsula, and does NOT include all countries in the world where it happens to live Muslims. Examples of Muslim majority countries outside the Middle East includes Albania, Bosnia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Maldives and even parts of the Philippines and India, none of these are in or even near the Middle East. And no, Muslims in general are not dangerous or evil, the very vast majority of them are normal people who goes to work every weekday and does not commit crimes, unfortunately Western media creates an Islamophobic environment. The vast majority of Muslims in former communist countries like Kazakhstan are practically not even religious, not one bit more religious than the average Brit or Frenchman. A country having Muslims in it does not necessarily make it a dangerous or unstable place.
@vaultkeeper2 Thank you for a very good geography lesson. I have a hard time explaining the same to my neighbors.
@@jasnah9717Yeah, it's like "oh it has stan in the name, that must mean it's in the Middle East with terrorists all around the place and they'll chop the head off the first American or Jew they see". People are just so ignorant and it annoys me alot. I have been to 49 different countries and some of them Muslim majority. Never felt threatened, that being said though is that most of them (that I visited) are former communist countries where people are not religious. Not that religious places are necessarily dangerous, but in a non-religous country like Kazakhstan I would feel even safe to live a western secular lifestyle at the fullest, in open with beer and wine and dating etc without causing anger to locals or the authorities.
Спасибо брат, за такое хорошее объяснение о моей стране. Извини за таксиста. Удачи тебе!!!
I believe people are just people and cant wait to visit❤
@@lbunnygordon1133 Unfortuently, not some. On other videos there has been comments like "get out of that region ASAP, I wouldn't go if you paid me", as if there was a war about to happen there or something like that which there isn't. The sad truth is actually that the major cities in the US, when it comes to things like shootings and armed robbery, are much less safe than most of the cities Gabe visited the past few months.
Twenty cents for a very clean metro. Amazing. Beautiful cathedral. Two videos in one day. You. Are the best !! Enjoy. And be safe 🧡💚💙

Amazing Church there.
Quail eggs! 😊 Sabrina 🇬🇧🇫🇷
Gabriel you could travel to your 93rd country which is nearby. Its only a 4 hour ride by car to Kyrgyzstan’s capital Bishkek.
Why don't you let him enjoy and show us the country he's just arrived in rather than sending him off elsewhere. So strange how people keep telling him to go to other places than the one he's in.
Now THIS is a very different picture, nice Orthodox church and a square with many pigeons. ;) Can't wait to see the part 2.
Thanks for showing us all of these wonderful places that I'll probably never get a chance to visit. It is great to see them through these videos. I love how you do your research and give us interesting facts about each place too
Churches are for the part architecual marvels usually free and mostly in the centers of cities so of course one should visit whilst one can. They're also a good place to sit and gather your thoughts, eh?
Another awesome video from another great looking place to visit
This was a fantastic Cathedral hope you were able to go in ..........I love the longer videos personally
Me too no criticism for Gabe at all he s one of us an ordinary person with no axe to grind unlike the insta set to be honest.
Gabriel . This is an interesting country , so far as we follow you around . Seems like the Central Asia countries were big on planting trees in their city centers
That cathedral is amazing!
Friday night. Will watch now. Watched the last one during the afternoon while working. Amazing travel stamina Gabriel. I know how I feel after 3-4 months of constant travel staying 3-4 days on average at a place. But it is so great to travel like this!
I love your videos. This series, "central asia", is amazing!
Neat! Please keep those vids coming!
Found you last week I love the way you put great music etc in your vids your awesome cheers from NewZealand
Happy to see you in Kazakhstan 😊
Yeh second fantastic video today
What a fantastic city!
cool almaty footage 🤙🏻 gabriel is now saying 'spasibo' (thanks), that is something, man, awesome 👍🏻
The combination of local cultures and the Russian Empire and later Soviet produced some amazing places.Georgia,Azerbajian,Kazahstan.Just pure Wow. Keep going.
Agree, big thanks Gabriel, I'm a wheelchair user but before my accident been to USA/India,Europe love this content especially places I will never see in the flesh, Thanks/Diolch.
Russia Empire did not creat anything. It just leached on Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan has existed longer than Russia
@@youneverknow824 Lol, so their metro for example was not designed after Moscow Metro? It's Ukrainians who are unable to create anything. Everything was created by Russia for them and they are still such a failure. 😅
@@youneverknow824you’re right. When there was a Kazakh Khanate(kingdom), even there was not existed word “russia”. Only moscovia.
Thank you for this video. Almaty looks fine and clean. The church in the beginning is very interesting and the park is wonderful. The metro carriage is a little crowded. I am looking forward to watching the second part.
i always look for places with live music on or an alternative bar/ pub with rock music
Gab, how do you have the stamina to travel, film, edit, and upload so much??
Gabe needs a special recognitiin for his dedication alone. His modesty and simplicity are a rarity.❤ plus he never failed to reply to me
True true
Gabriel is a very likeable person and admirably adventurous. However his videos are quite dull. However i still like to watch them but tend to fast forward the. At certain points!

Beautifull Amazing cathedral!! 🤩 🙆♀️
Welcome to Kazakhstan Gabriel ! Where are you heading next? Are you planning to visit the North part of the country?
Gabriel #1!
Damn 2nd. Was close. Will have to watch this after work : ) Safe travels
An information...the name of the hotel in Almaty! Very cool...😊 Congratulations for your adventures
You do an excellent job figuring out how to get on the bus and trains, 👍👍
Gabriel, Thank you for showing us beautiful old churc in Kasakistan.
Hi Gabriel👋 I’m from Kazakhstan city Uralsk. Welcome to Kazakhstan. I really happy to find your vlog

thanks so much for your work. may be pigeon eggs with so many of them..😊 wonderful place, loved it, put mi a smile on the face and ❤
Hi Gabriel, maybe I'm wrong but the name of the city Almaty translated in English means friendship in English. That was a good move getting out of those apartment complexes it seems stagnant not much going on there. First, the transit system was an exceptionally clean station, and you didn't see armed security like in certain countries sense of safety people seemed calm and relaxed. The park experience was something you would see in any major city people especially children enjoying the park riding in small cars. It is beautiful to see a sense of openness and freedom.
Alma means Apple and Almaty is city of apples 🍎
And the common domesticated apple originates from the wild apple that's local to south east Kazakhstan
3:18 It is good to be in such a neighborhood. We can see the real country, not just tourist attractions 8:41 Russian is in the middle The metro station looks very Soviet. The train is very modern So many young people around
Is not soviet metro Lol Bit**#
The ceramic wall in the subway reminds me a bit of the Silk Road that led through the city.
Gabe amazing vedio content I give u like 👍 I very enjoyed watching your content.
Cathedrals are always the main hub of activity and that one looks majestic. Can’t wait to get the full tour. You almost need an umbrella, all those pigeons! 😊
Almaty looks nicer than South Carolina where I live so no one get on Kazakhstan, they’re doing great
Hello! Local here. The main reason why the Auezov district could be considered to be the best neighborhood and why you had a separate experience is because the district itself is MASSIVE! This could be why you were unlucky with your accommodation. Thank you very much for visiting my home country and I am glad that you enjoyed your stay!
In the 70 ties a lot of speedskating rekords were set on the Alma ata speedskating rink
Kazakhstan is nice and everything is so inexpensive. It seems that travelling there helps one save money.
Hi Gabe, You should try going to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan for a night or two, its like 4 hours by bus from Almaty, the tickets are afordable, I"ve been to Almaty and Bishkek in June and found Bishkek a bit more interesting.
Gabriel, did the thing with T-mobile and standard SIM card worked also in China without problems? Or your VPN were doing great there to remain with original SIM card? As I heard many people have had problems in China because Google, Facebook and similar is blocked there, Google Translate/Maps are impossible to use and there is another domestic software for these cases. I believe that it is similar in North Korea.
Have you ever noticed how the "M" for Metro seems to look just like the "M" in McDonald's? I was told that a graphic designer borrowed/stole it after traveling to the U.S. Seems apocryphal but not impossible. Anybody have any definite info about this? btw the metro station ceramic mural was stunning.
Sounded like there were other Americans there too near the church. Kinda interesting because Kazakhstan is not frequently visited by a lot of Americans, unlike in Europe, or India, or somewhere like that. I do think it could be a popular destination in the future though
Gabriel, thanks for showing me a country I have no intention of ever visiting. I know it’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it!
Your lucky with TMobile, that you are connected in almost every country you go, I wish I can do that with my phone network whenever I leave the EU,
Have you ever been to the caspian sea??
little chickens lay small eggs.
Monty Python. And now for something completely different. 🤗 @16:21
First...MAYBE haha...Cheers Gabe...Great videos!
Yep, got it.
Pigeons are birds of peace! Kazakhstan is a country of peace!))
As seen from travellers & teachings when we-were travelling be it office tour for shoots of Camera Club, best to get accom. in city center because (1) aside from great savings on fares; (2) less struggle & hassle on how to get or where to get transport to City center; (3)quick boarding of buses for outside city trips if want to start very early; (4) more choices to eat; (5) can find supermwrkets or groceries for room stock for the evening (or travelling) when already w/o need to dress up again just to go out for dinner, & (6) accessibility Post Office to mail postcards to myself, family & friends (nice remembrsnce documenting places in the country, dates visited, cost how lonhg before it reached my Home country, and stamps of countries (I request not the metered stamps).
It looks very very far where you are what a pity seems not so much public transport. I love Turkey because so many dolmus to anywhere although even that has gone up in price used to be like 20 cents!❤Gabe answeredmy question re sim cards. Unfortunately they dont give us Tmobile in Uk and rest are too costly, so just rely on wifi l, godesend about offline map download as mapsme let me down so many times!😂
From what I can gather from these videos there is very good public transport, both buses and subway. This is something the Soviet Union was actually very good at, and ex-Soviet countries tends to have great public transport.
Gabriel, what wifi and web surfing mechanism do you use when overseas, please?
T-Mobile. I discussed that at 13:17 in the video.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos So you did. Apologies! 🥹
@@GabrielTravelerVideos I have T-Mobile. I like it.
Sorry, when you pretended squeezing the eggs, it reminded me of something else 😂
❤️👍❤️
Can I ask if you get charged a roaming fee with T-mobile?
I am also wondering how much he pays in general...he must have some sort of traveling plan, I guess
Yes, if you talk on the phone it costs 25 cents a minute.
Do you pay extra fees abroad for mobile Internet connection ?
As a T-Mobile customer myself, no we don’t. We get like 2GB or 3GB of high speed data in a week and if we need more high speed, we can purchase it but if we don’t, our speeds drop to 3G. It is still very usable at 3G.
@@CourtneyMcFate you look attractive
Why record next to a busy highway?
You can really see the Soviet influence in those god awful block style apartment buildings, quite the contrast to Baku.
Baku has lots of same Soviet aparment buildings, he just stayed far from them in the city centre
Gabriel why you dont look for Mosques in Almaty ? Its a Muslim country and Imperialist Russians brought the churches to Kazakhstan during the times of the russian Empire.
Bulgarians brings ortodoks rerigion and cyrlic alpabet to Rusia, but we are not imperialits for sure
Looks like a very clean city and feels safe to me. I wonder how much a gallon of gas is there.?
$2 a gallon.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos thank u

Maybe the tiny ponies lay the tiny eggs? ;)
Many russians flew to Kazachstan if u will have a chance u can talk to tem
In order to get around you have to take taxis, google doesn't understand the public transport and will have you walk any route, the city is heavily polluted by traffic noise and exhaust fumes so walking really isn't fun here and taxi is your best option. Of course you'll get shafted by every driver, they'll charge you 10 times normal rate and pretend not to know how to say 2000 and type in a calculator 20000 when your drive is done. One thing to prevent you from getting into fights with drivers is to use yandex (the uber of Kazakhstan). Drivers will still fail to put the blue dot (your location) to the marker where you need to go and sometimes it'll be off by a large amount (40 minutes walk) but at least they won't rip you off by too much. The best tip I can give you about Kazakhstan though is to just ignore it exist and fly over it, there are many places that are far more worth it with people that are more helpful, friendlier and more appreciative of you visiting their country.
Great video, i know its written Almaty, but pronounced as Almata😉
It's Almaty
@@bauerjan7887 if you ask people who live in the country, they will tell you
@@lanaborisovsky7608 Huh I don't need that, I live in Almaty since my birth and our family has been living here for generations
In the Soviet Union names Ближний Восток, Средний Восток, Дальний Восток, Средняя Азия were used what roughly correspont to Near East, Middle East, Far East, and Middle Asia. English version Central Asia tranlated into Russian as Центральная Азия is now used but in Russian it has flavor of center of disk. Also East Asia, South-East Asia, South Asia. Also Asia Minor.
It's really nice looking over there! Good food, low crime, clean, peaceful, and even nice areas that are family and kid friendly. A new Cinderella's carriage with Mozart serving gourmet burgers in a world going bonkers with a new era of history. Not so nice in America and the West for our quality of life, food, culture, and economic situation is becoming abysmal and appalling. Wonder how long Americans and US citizens will be allowed safe freedom of passage like that? I guess US citizens can smartly move abroad to a nice new upcoming country like Kazakhstan or Malaysia, but it requires financial independence with a fully global diversified portfolio of assets which is the thing most of us can't possibly have in debt based economics of psychopaths, war, and misery.
Jesus bless the Kazakh people.

The y is pronounced like kiwis pronounce e :) the same for what you see written with a y in Russian or Ukrainian, when it's transcribed from the cyrillic alphabet
Алматы правильно называть город Верный. Михаил и Лада из Алматы.
I recall Bald & Bankrupt visited a Russian space centre in Kazakhstan 🇰🇿, although in his case, he did it illegally and filmed the whole thing before getting arrested by the police. Luckily he only got a fine.
Alinchek helped for sure 😂

Thanks for the video about my hometown. But if I may, one remark: learn how to mount a video, otherwise it turned out to be stretched and boring.
Fascinating series. Thanks Gabe.
@ 11:26 that's what she said
Russian and Kazakh are not "in the Cyrillic" as you stated. They are both written using the Cyrillic alphabet however. "In the Cyrillic" does not make much sense.

Hey, I hear spasibo, not thank you. It resembles my experience in Poland where we tried to speak English being sure that every Polish is half American. It worked for some young people but the middle age majority answered ne razumeiu, don't understand, but easily understood Russian.
Hi from Arizona. 9 AM 80 degrees
Who cares man.
I don't understand why you post this pretty much every time. Are you a meteorologist, or is this some kind of secret code?
🤔
People complaining about the architecture, well that was soviet atheism which had no sense of the transcendent so they built boxes.
not really, they just had a low budget. There are some really cool Soviet buildings in the city. Astana, in comparison, is a soulless city, skyscrapers and gigantomania don’t help. Soviet legacy makes Almaty beautiful
1st
Kazakhs very recently begun to live and build cities similar to mongols .Probably becouse of that city loks depresive. Ortodoks church loks nice but most likly built by rusians
actually the "depressive" part is a mid 1960-s or later of soviet union period, the current new country capital city Astana got a totally modern european design.
Quail eggs
Sea of pigeons 😂
Man using Google maps 😂 only Yandex maps actually works and is accurate in Soviet countries
Maybe in Russia. I’m Kazakh and using only google
Kazakhs dont know how to cook real Ukrainian Borshsh soup.
Seems like it's kinda a boring city
Yeah I’m surprised, thought there would be more to the city. Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan seems more interesting.
Yes. Indeed very boring. I’m telling you as a local.
