  • It's probably very cringe for actual players to hear this but this Anime was the only reason I found interest in this sport. And thanks to it I actually have been playing in my Highschool team for almost 2 years now. I'm our teams main setter now which is ironic because that would have been the last position I would've seen myself in when I initially started. It turns out that I have a bit of a natural feeling for setting balls from unusual positions but my extreme height of 1,95m for a Highschooler certainly helped too. Can't say this channel wasn't the main reason for why I actually got decent at what I do tho. So thank you for that. •Here to update on my situation as this comment is still getting attention: Seems like I managed to get an infection in my knee from heavy overuse right when I thought I had reached the best physical condition I had ever been in. My love for the sport has only grown over the last few months and I started taking a liking to playing as a middle (very successfully so, although the initial transition attempt had its issues) shortly after this comment was initially written. That then lead to one of my friends and teammates getting the opportunity to play as our main Setter and that's how we are now. I am forced to take a break for the next 2 months or so because of the infection but all in all it has been an incredible journey. Thank you to Elevate yourself again for keeping me motivated to learn

I joined the volleyball club in our school and tryouts began yesterday (Saturday for us) and before that day, I watched a ton of your videos just to get an idea of how I should play in the team since I had no experience whatsoever. So, Tryouts came and our coach looked a lot like you! Well, somewhat. But from what I remember, his teaching resembles alot like yours eapecially the video on how to spike properly. I wasn't picked in the tryouts, but had a blast of a time playing!

Last Thursday I filled in for the Nuggets, and the Outside and Setter performed a First Tempo Kageyama Slide, he BOUNCED it off the other setter's head and it hit the roof. I wish someone filmed it. • in my opinion I think its opposite and what I mean by this is that usually in volleyball the spiker would have timed themselves of when to run and spike the ball and all the setter has to do is to just set it for them. So what I mean by opposite is that Kageyama timed the set and all Hinata had to do was to jump, so Kageyama just pin-pointed it to Hinata's hand so that he could spike it.

  • How realistic can this set be? I have never seen anyone do this the same way the show does, in which the spiker is already in the air even before the setter has touched the ball. It takes for the hitter to swing without even thinking or seeing the ball and 100% the setter control to be able to put the ball in the proper place. I guess they came pretty close though. There is a lot of muscle memory that has to be denied to do this properly, because they default to set/hit in the way they always do so it is hard to break that habbit and that connection. It is when you see these guys try so hard that you realize that what Kageyama does in the anime is CRAZY GOOD, to be that quick and precise every time, jeez.

Even in the side by side of 3:10, you can see Camillo's still on the ground after you set vs Hinata who is already in the air. A few of your sets look on pace, but Camillo was just not approaching fast enough.

    • @@velroi This is simply not true. There are videos of people who properly execute the minus tempo, albeit at a much shorter distance to make it easier. You may not be able to get the "set through the hitter's swing" aspect of the minus tempo, but you can at the very least get the "hitter has done their approach and are in the air before the set" part. If you get neither of those, it's just a fast first tempo.

  • So, i've searching a lot for something called the "New Quick" that Hinata and Kageyama learned and started using, the one that makes the ball stops mid ar with a reverse spin, I searched on all youtube about this kind of toss and I want to use it with my friend so then he can spike the ball easier but I didn’t found any kind of tutorial on internet. And no, spinning the ball while setting doesn’t mean is a violation like double touch, not exactly, the referee needs to see the setter hands and see if the ball in fact leaved his hands on a different time than another.

  • this is so odd hearing that this is fast cause my friends and i have been doing this since we learned to hit cause most of us watched haikyuu before we started playing (about a year and a half ago) and we do this for indoor pickup and ive transitioned to playing a lot of grass in the last 4-5 months (1-2 times a week play BB-A) and still run it with my friends but as straight up balls. But i absolutely love see this type of fanfair content lol

    • Check your hitting technique, do you use bow and arrow or circular. Circular is much better for your shoulders
