Proven Biblical Money Principles - Dave Ramsey gives a sermon on proven Biblical financial principles.
Notes:
1. LIVE ON A WRITTEN BUDGET
For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it? Luke 14:28
2. AVOID DEBT
The rich rule over the poor and the borrower is slave to the lender. Proverbs 22:7
3. FOSTER HIGH-QUALITY RELATIONSHIPS
Do not be deceived: evil company corrupts good habits. 1 Corinthians 15:33
4. SAVE AND INVEST
In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil. Proverbs 21:20
5. BE INCREDIBLY GENEROUS
... for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7

    • One is not always indebted because one chooses to be...there are those of us in debt because we have no other choice..mouths must be fed..school fees paid..kids grow out of clothes ..get sick...some are in debt so that they can live decent lives without prostituting themselves...some are in debt while waiting and hoping God will intervene and show them a suitable way out...

    • No debt is easiest for our household. While I did have a credit card for nearly a decade, it never occurred to me to purchase beyond the credit limit. Budgeting is the hardest; assigning each dollar a named purpose is tough when the month doesn't go the way you plan out.

    • Saving is the hardest because I don't have anything to save. I worked through college but still needed student loans which I pay every month. I am bankrupt on top of that. Not from choice but because of unforeseen medical bills etc. Its literally from paycheck to paycheck. This sermon is exactly what I needed to hear. I will be doing a written budget and continuing to try to save. Thank you.

  • I loved every bit of this! My best money lesson from the bible is from Ecclesiastes 11:2; Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come upon the land. Given the present economy, this is as true as they get. Never put all your eggs in one basket. As one who has been into Real Estates for as long as I can remember, I made my first million earlier this year from stocks alone (got the help of a pro though because I don't have a lot of spare time). I also experiment with a couple of other things. Hard to imagine that I had initially refused to try out new possibilities. Good luck.

    • There is so many anti tithers that say it was for OT and want to persuade you not to Tithe, but I can say 5 years ago I was struggling financially and decided to Tithe. All of a sudden I could not understand how there was so much money left over. Nothing had changed with my income. Then I stopped tithing a year later and went back to broke again in less than 3 months after I stopped tithing. So when 2017 came around my new year resolution was to start tithing again. I made a vow that from that day I will never stop paying my Tithe again even if I became a millionaire. Long story short, I started tithing, God put me to test when they cut my work hours almost in half. I kept my vow and kept paying my Tithe and 3 months later I tried a new business with shoes and went from 1 pair, to 2 pairs, to 4 pairs to 8 pairs, and up to at one time 180 pairs. I learned the game and have never had more in my entire life. You stop sowing seeds and God will stop the blessings. And God applies this principle in giving also. That's why you see people that aren't even Christian get blessed because they are philanthropist. Lesson, tithe and you'll never be broke if you follow the other 4 Dave talks about.

    • Tithing was for the old covenant...we are now under the new covenant..tithing was always food and goods, never money...no where in the new testament says we are to tithe now..it says we should give with a cheerful heart, but if you tithe thinking your going to get something in return or that your life is going to get better or to do it because some else is, God would rather you keep it.. and any preacher today that says you must tithe is deceived..and more than likely doesnt want to preach otherwise, because hes worried he wont get paid instead of trusting in God...

    • @The Fall of New Babylon It's not really about how much you give, but whether it puts you in an uncomfortable position along with the depth of your faith.

  • We need to put GOD 1st in all things. Money is temporary. Jesus is the only way to Heaven. We need to seek Him only. It's good to have money, but shouldn't idle

    • Remember: God does not want us rich, God does not want us poor, God wants us GENEROUS. Who has a lot, it is because he shares little. A person who earns a lot of money is not rich, rather, a rich man is a person who accumulates all the profit of it only for himself without sharing with those who need it most; remember that always. Proverbs 29: 7, Luke 11:41, 2 Corinthians 8: 13-15, 1 Corinthians 10: 23-24, Galatians 5:13, Galatians 6: 2, First John 3:17, Proverbs 3: 2, Luke 14: 12-14.
