  • As someone that grew up dirt poor with my family getting any job we could to make it. My father even stripping copper daily with bandaged hands covered in blood: What makes you guys the arbiter of what is and isn't a career? These companies you're defending: - Do not pay their fair share of taxes - They abuse legal speak and classify drivers as independent contractors to give them less rights/benefits - They started off with low prices until they forced career long taxi drivers out of business and then sky rocketed their prices once the competition was gone. Now you want them to continue paying drivers $5/hr? Jfc, where is the leverage for the little guy? Do you know what our population is? Not everyone is going to be capable of having a traditional major career that can buy them a house, no market could even sustain everyone in this country or the world trying to do so. News flash: The majority aren't even trying to buy a house, they just want to survive and pay rent. Bisping is also right, their time is valued and should be valued more. Conspiracy theorists used to hate "The man" but now you lot defend them because you think always being a contrarian makes you look/feel smarter. What's next? Going to defend CEO's making 100's of millions? "Oh the prices will go up" Cool, poor people already don't use ride services or get fast food. We use public transit, bike and make our own meals. If the business fails then so be it. Apologies though if paying people a living wage means you have to spend an extra few dollars on your meal. Which, btw, outrageously greedy fast food inflation was already happening before minimum wage increases. They will continue to happen without them. They've been telling us "We've altered the deal, pray we don't alter it further" and now we have you lot being pro-establishment.

You should try it! it is not only very good as an antioxidant superfood to decrease free radical formation and therefore oxidative damage but also in my humble opinion tastes amazing blended in hot or cold drinks. also goes well with hot chocolate too.

  • Brian's argument basically boils down to, "Either the people who are stuck in low paying jobs fall into complete poverty so I can get a $5 value meal, or robots will be the best choice." This argument creates a very clear wealthy and poverty class in our system. Venezuela failed because of this. Many countries around the world have failed economic systems because of this. Not the robots. But because of a complete abandonment of the people who make the burgers, pick the lettuce, drive the Ubers, in exchange for the promise of "if we don't have to pay them a survivable wage, you get a cheaper ride." And for how long? It's not sustainable. Also, this is just the contemporary version of the same argument that gets brainwashed into people's heads around every adjustment to the minimum wage. How the rich have been able to convince the middle class and reduced financial classes that this is best for them is truly diabolical. Pretty simple logic for you to follow. Prices always go up. Wages should always go up. Otherwise there will not be a working class who can even afford to work within the financial system available, and you won't have Ubers, bus drivers, McDonalds.

    @jdeeezie@jdeeezieАй бұрын
    • Those are not jobs you should be doing to earn a living, those jobs are for unskilled people looking for extra income. The problem with these people is they want flat screen tvs, nice cars, to raise families, but they want to continue to do unskilled labor and want the people that actually produce things that contribute to the economy (rather than just having service based jobs) to pay more of thier hard earned wages to cover thier own lifestyles. Like I said get a real job if you want real money, McDonald's and such are jobs for kids and old people trying to supplement thier lifestyle with a little cash not mothers of 5 that don't have any skills

      @anthonyjamesvannatta@anthonyjamesvannattaАй бұрын
    • @@anthonyjamesvannatta no. You're wrong. Also, this doesn't just affect people who make a living working at McDonalds or Uber. It affects people who work for the City, the County, the people who pick up trash at parks, garbage truck workers, it will affect school teachers, it will affect landscapers, it will affect office managers, it will affect hotel employees, it will affect construction laborers.. This is not isolated to the McBurgers you eat. It will mean people have a better chance of making a living wage across the board. And it'll mean those people can afford to eat out a bit more, increasing commerce, not decreasing it. Also, even if this were isolated to the McDonald's of the country, and an average line cook can prepare 20 meals per hour (which is very few, they can do a lot more) then that $5 spread across 20 meals is only 25 cents per meal to the customer. Also, it sounds like you have very little respect for people who work in the service industry. The fast food apparatus is far more valuable of a contribution to our society that you've been able to wrap your head around. For some it's just a lazy meal that's cheap and full of dopamine inducing flavor sensation chemicals. For others it gives them the ability to get back to work faster or home to spend time with their kids. You've been hijacked by the rich and become a mouthpiece for them. They're the only ones who benefit from an impoverished class becoming more stark. At least short term. You need only look at other countries around the world who didn't protect the middle, and low-middle economic classes to see how they have fallen apart.

  • Way more respect for bisping after the Uber argument. These two clowns talking about they shouldn't get paid enough to survive because their job isn't really important when Harrington's job is to suck up to fighters they had on the podcast is hilarious. the whole "it'll raise the price of other things" argument doesn't hold any water because everything is going up and up and up anyways regardless of people being paid a halfway decent wage. The elitist mentality from a professional suck up and someone who works 2-3 days a week having hit the lottery working for famous people was hard to listen to
