Roman & Hellenic Ambience - A Night at Athena's Temple

422 BCE; the Temple of Athena and Nike was anointed last night. It is a warm summer evening; after pouring your libations you decide to retire at the temple. A mellow music calms your spirit, as the goddess resides in the temple's sacred halls late at night.

  • I don't mean to equate this beautiful video and music to modern video games, but this is the reason why I love Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, it's the only game that lets me walk the streets of Ancient Greece replicated as close in a simulation such as this as possible. I've been so mesmerized just watching the people walk the markets and the temples, talking Greek and Latin, praying to their Gods, haggling for the right price and to have unkempt Socrates suddenly bother me about riddles I know nothing about...

    • I completely agree with you, hence the reason I added this unique soundtrack to the ambience music. Assassin's Creed essentially takes you back in time, it's like a time traveling device. I hope this music displays some part of that magic.

    • The sounds and melodies create their own Animus effect. Maybe Ive done too many psychadelics, but I can see the landscape and imagine seeing through the eyes of my ancestors in that period. Sounds of rainfall are what do it for me; I can feel the water on my face and the fresh air in my lungs as I trudge on for dutys sake.

  • I’ve have actually been there and done this! I was in Athens in 2010 and did this kind of thing every night. I’d sit there overlooking the ancient agora, watching the sun go down, contemplating those beautiful and powerful Goddesses with my earphones in listening to chill music. It was every bit as magical as this with the exception that I don’t get a ton of mosquito bites watching it from here 🤣

Descansen, compatriotas.

  • Your channel is severely underrated!! 😤 I love this soundscape. ✨ Was wondering if you’d consider creating one with a ship at sea with like maybe?? Idk like a Lake Nemi floating palace one? Or like Odysseus’s ship docking in Circe’s island? Don’t personally know enough abt the history or myth to offer a solid idea but... man keep up the good work! I’m always impressed w these. 😭💙 Thanks for sharing this w the world.

    • Hey Baz! I've noticed you commenting on my other videos. You're one of those subscribers that really make this channel special. Thank you so much for everything :) Your video idea is amazing! I'd love to do something ocean themed. Odysseus sounds exciting, a good addition to my Hellenic inspired music. When I do make it, I'll tag you in the description. Would you allow me to add your channel link as an info tag in the video?

Thank you so much for sharing these with the world & I definitely look forward to see what you do with the idea!! 🌊✨

    • Because solid marble temples are expensive and the methods were lost to time. That said, efforts are being undertaken to begin reconstruction of the Parthenon within the next 25 to 50 years. It’s supposedly going to incorporate both modern and ancient building techniques, and is going to be a FULL RECONSTRUCTION of the entire building. Probably the entire plaza itself. I hope it doesn’t get treated as just another tourist trap though. The Parthenon is the symbol of values of freedom that now exist the entire globe over so. Hopefully the Greeks treat the restored Parthenon with the glory and respect it deserves.
