That file flip is so smooth.
Haha right, I feel like all farriers have this bit down to a science😂
We always tell our farrier he could go work for benihanna
Ikr
Yes sirrrr
yeah it is cool my dad does hoofs and he does it and im like HOW do you do that
The only thing hurting in this video, is the poor dudes back
Poor guy
No I'm sure after doing this for a while it probably has built his back pretty good.
My partner's old horse used to refuse to keep his feet up unless he had a person there to support his weight He's a draft
yes ,his poor back must of hurt
His chiropractor bill is probably through the roof
If anyone is wondering if this hurts the horse: *If it did the person would be a few feet away with a really sore ass*
It doesn’t hurt the horse so no worries!
Its like cutting Youri OWN nails you dont feel it at All bcs its dead nail :)
That vegan teacher: “OMG YOU’RE HURTING IT”
A really sore ASS
its not hurting the horse my dad does it and you would be hurting the horse it would pull back
People let's be honest,if it was hurting the horse, the guy would be a goner.
True like Bruce he would have gotten kickeddddd
@@annad.6096 yes he would be kicked in the butt
Oop yep
@BlueDinoJake lol
I was like why he going so rough then I remember he would’ve got kicked in the sack
My mare would never stand still enough for this. Getting her hooves trimmed is always a special feat for my farrier. She doesn’t even stand still long enough for me to pick her hooves regularly. Bless this horse’s level of patience, and this man’s. Edit: corrected a word
I know what you mean.... :( my mare is the same
Imagine owning a horse
Wild ones knew how to shed their own I think
I understand the struggle my palomino mare pulls like a cat on a leash and flips herself if you touch her feet and kicks like a rattle snake... needless to say we’re working with a trainer
Damn- I guess I was blessed with an angel
Literally nobody: The comments of this video: for everyone saying this hurts the horse....
It don’t
Congratulations. You have posted what may possibly be the only instance I will have ever found this comment funny and clever.
Me: unhealthily watching way too many horse hooves cleaning videos *imagining” what if humans had to cut their nails like this???

@@leah_kirkland. damn already thanks man
I mean old people or sick people technically cut their nail like that :|
@@justnoob8141 how tho lmao
My back and knees hurt watching this!!!! He makes it look so easy and that's a sign of a professional!!! Wonderful job!!!!
So cool. But I don't understand people thinking the video should be flipped. It's the farrier's eye view, it's the view you have when you clean your horse's feet. It's the only view that makes sense, to me at least. thanks so much.
i just like it better because it feels like i’m watxhing it from my pov and not from theirs :)
@pizza i didn’t say that i would be watching from under the horse i said that i like the look of it when the video is flipped upside down. it makes it seem like i am standing there or sitting there watching them instead of seeing it from their pov
@pizza well i never said that i would be in that position irl i think it’s better to looks at it from that way on the video.
@pizza oops, I was responding to the wrong person my bad
I think hounding the phone normal is fine it is farries view so what matters .
For those wondering, this isn’t hurting the horse. While it might seem kind of tough, this isn’t actually cutting into any of the horses flesh. It’s a bit like a human getting a manicure but for a horse.
I’ve watched some horses even falling asleep lol
no hate but a manicure is for hands of a human (For example) and peticure (if i spelled that right which i probably didnt) is for feet lol try to remember that so people wont have to correct you and might make you feel bad ( i experience it)
@@lowlifekidyt5717 well the front legs of a 4 legged animal are analogous to the arms of a human
There’s no nerves in the Hooves anyway so they don’t even feel anything. But I can imagine it must feel nice for the horse after getting it done.
Why are y’all talkin bout people saying that that hurts the horse when I can’t find shit
it's just a general common thing, whenever you are doing any type of work with an animal, most likely people are probably gonna say that
You mean feel?
I think it started with one person assuming someone said it, and then other people not bothering to check and just going along with the assumption
@@HighSpeedChase not one person on here has said that it hurts the animal
Its always like this. People are dumb sheep that will say what everyone else says

How could a job so perfect get a thumbs down. It makes no sense. I've never seen such perfection. Instead of being jealous he is showing us so we learn. Thumbs up for a phenomenal job.

Now THAT was a beautiful video! Loved it!!!
As an equestrian, I always love watching a good farrier at work 😍😍
same!
My horses hooves are getting done tomorrow and why does it look like coconut?
The hoof is made of keratin. The same material your nails are made of. The pink in your nails comes from the bloodvessels underneath
@@yahaloo7883 Okay but it does look like coconut :o
It do be lookin like a coconut tho-
@@lampadudle well it sure don’t taste like coconut! The coconut look is a result of the way the teeth of the rasp cut through the foot. Just based on this one foot I would be happy if he were my farrier! Though I think he would find my desert hardened hooves a heck of a challenge to trim. My RT shoulder is currently pitching a fit over trimming and shoeing my own as its hard as hell to find a competent farrier.
Because it's like a big thick nail. With no blood vessels in it So it's just.. Dry.. And white like that
Why are people disliking this video of someone properly taking care of their horse??
I wish you would have filmed all four hooves. Great work
Aww the forbidden coconut 🥥😌
It’s 3:00 am, I gotta work at 9 am and for some reason…I cannot stop watching this, this is so satisfying
Wow I wish dogs were this patient for their nail trims
I love your videos!! I watched some other farrier videos and out of everyone you do the best job. You take so much time making sure the horse gets the best care

That is one BIG hoof! Assuming it's a draft horse though so quite understandable, just first time I've seen one of theirs trimmed.
She says it's a shire (draft), although not as huge as I would have expected. Cool video.
I'm kinda dissapointed that the horse didn't say at the end: "So you guys, this is how I get my nails done, thank you and tune in next time"
You do things so smoothly. Thank You for sharing.
My back is hurting just from watching ! Wow I always wondered how this was done. Super neat!

Hi Jake, greetings from Australia! I grew up on cattle stations here in Australia, but never actually saw a farrier do his work in practise until I came across your channel and another bloke who does this sort of thing with dairy cows in Scotland. Great videos, VERY interesting!
If you flip your screen upside down you can see properly. Thank me later.
Big brain
Thanks Einstein
Imma Thank You Right Now. Thanks
woah-
Actually, not really. If you want to watch this as a farrier, it's better to watch it like that cause that's basically our point of view and it's much easier to se how he does things
So much more difficult than trimming cows hooves....dont tell Graham
Graham would likely do a fantastic job given a bit of guidance on dealing with horses. This horse was well mannered though! Try having one that wants to squish you when she thinks she’s stood long enough. Couple that with a bum knee ( arthritis) and it’s a recipe for a not so fun trim.
Our secret!
This is why he was brutal , the horse hoof is much harder
Crusty dusty horse hoof sooo satisfying!👍🏾🧲🐴🐎
Im just fascinated by the way you flip your tools 😅 great job!

No matter how he does this.... Peta will find a way to be offended by it
Yeah because Peta actively harm animals, not help them. They don't like to see someone actually helping animals.
Poor horse, has to stand a long time on 3 feet. And 1 feet is "stuck" between two human legs. So the horse has no choice 🤣 horse abuse!! (Sarcastic right)
That's some hard work, mad respect you. 👏

I have a buddy that went and trained for this. I had no idea what it truly entailed. So interesting!
Thanks for posting these videos!! My dream is to become a farrier :) I have a degree in animal care and once I get the chance I am going to learn the trade!! Your videos are so informative and satisfying.
There is so much smooth action here, just can't give enough credit and thanks. As a city folk, I have never had interactions like this, so please excuse my ignorance to some degree. I notice in the videos, the horses seem extremely calm and might I say, enjoy having their nails trimmed and new shoes fitted. Basing my experience off taking a few pets to varying vets, animals do know or sense who or where they are. The question I want to ask, are all horses like this, or do you have the occasional ones who, not matter if they like it not, they aren't as calm as this. Do they all have the sense to know 'hey its the nail/shoe man, he's cool' or are there the nervous nellies, who no matter how gentile you are with them, they just don't like you? Love the vids and content, fascinating to watch and I have no idea why. If you enjoyed watching me do my job, I'd be extremely surprised....
Hey! There are a few horses who don’t enjoy having their hooves touched, wether that be cleaning or a visit from the farrier however you’ll find that most horses enjoy it! Hope that helps answer your question!
Im guessing he got an A+ on that one carving project he had in art class

Actual question here. What is the black line that runs around the edge of the hoof wall? Is this normal for drafts, common in all horses? I don't recall seeing it so pronounced before.
I watched it upside down. That was great work
I 💜 the beauty and sound of the horse-hoof... especially when it's galloping upon the ground...😇👍🏻

I really like this video. Thank you so much.
I don’t understand why folks take issue with the camera angle. It looks like a first person view. Go-pro on his head? If he can perform the job from that view we can watch it from the same in my opinion. That’s just my opinion though.
Too much motion can cause seasickness in some people, including me. This video was okay today, but usually, I wouldn't be able to watch one with the camera bobbing around like that (or even worse, panning).
Is it like your trimming and cleaning nails and wouldn’t that feel so damn good for the horse after your done
Horse has got some good patience....🔥🔥🔥
More satisfying than the actual cleaning is the file flipping, ssoooo smooth, noice

Why does so much so,e get removed? Why wouldn’t that cause tenderness? Enjoyed you at your skill. Very handy!
I'm not a farrier or anything close, but I would assume much like dogs or even us depending on how long you go with out trimming nails they keep growing out. On a dog you would trim the as far back as possible to the quick. Just like us and dogs I would assume as long as you dont go past that point it shouldn't hurt them or cause tenderness. S&s horse shoeing has alot of good explanations to his trims. Explaining the why's and what's
Farrier here! Just like people horses feet have an arch. When you trim the wall shorter, the sole also has to be trimmed to keep the hoof's natural cup shape. The sole is made of horn tubules softer and more flexible than the hoof wall that is meant to bear the brunt of the horse's weight. When he steps down the foot expands and the sole sinks to absorb shock. If you leave the sole too thick or even worse, longer than the harder, less flexible weight bearing hoof wall you do not give space for this action and it will cause bruising and soreness almost like how people with flat feet get sore or if you were to walk with a sock balled in the arch of your foot. I hope this helps.
That was beautiful!!!
I love how people in the comments are throwing tantrums over the horse when the horse is literally calm and relaxed for the entire video. Really says a lot.
