Can These Red Wings Actually Be Fixed?

2024 ж. 2 Мам.

This pair of Red Wing Iron Rangers is in BAD shape! Red Wing told the owner of these boots that they would not fix them. He contacted us and asked if we were up to the task of restoring these Red Wing boots. We took on the challenge, and in this video, we'll see if it was possible. Time for another restoration!

  • Shoe repairers and proper cobblers are a dying breed where i come from in the UK my family were cobblers going back to the 17th century, my grandfather and his son (my father) sold their shop in the 1940,s and my father carried on doing repairs in his shed until his retirement. I still have all the old tools hammers lasts etc but sadly i was never interested in the trade and at 77 i am well past it but it was interesting in the video to see the tools being used although i notice craft knives seem to have replaced the original style. keep up the good work.. Thank you

  • Just want to say how cool this is. I've always read that Redwing won't repair this. It's amazing to see the details of what the issue really is. And in a way I kind of now understand Redwing's point. But even more amazing that you guys were able to repair and resole the boot! I've always wondered and now it's answered.

  • I have to be honest with you... I (like everyone) love watching you put hot cork in. However... if I were to have you guys repair a set of boots... I'd prefer to have sheet cork. It just seems like it's more consistent in thickness, and may add to overall comfort in the end. Great repair as usual guys! Who would have ever thought that people would find watching shoe and boot repairs so therapeutic? Awesome seeing what it takes to rebuild something that looks like you should throw it out.

  • I’ve lost track of all the restorations you two have performed. I’ve found that the cost of replacement is not paramount to the owner, it’s comfort and durability. Here’s a suggestion: a tour of the shop and its machinery. The name & function of each, whether it gets your vote after repeated use, how often repair on that element of your business is necessary and whether some implement are no longer useful. I know you have engineered new techniques, so maybe a video highlighting innovations you’ve concocted to solve a problem pair of footwear. Thanks for your videos, makes me more conscious of how I select various brands (I’m unimpressed with a lot of new dress wear designs) and always listen carefully to your comparisons. I find them objective. Keep on, keepin’ on!
