Why does Jalen Hurts' MVP candidacy continue to be questioned? | NFL | SPEAK

Dallas Cowboys LB Micah Parsons made headlines for initially questioning Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts MVP candidacy. Now, NFL analyst and former QB Phil Simms shared his thoughts, saying that Hurts is not more valuable to his team than Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow or Josh Allen is to theirs, later adding quote: 'If you'd put Gardner Minshew in the Eagles, they'd still be very good.' Emmanuel Acho, Joy Taylor, David Helman and Will Blackmon break down why Hurts' MVP candidacy is being questioned.

If you can get players to follow your lead that to me without a doubt its the upmost ability any QB can have, Jalen has polished his skills, mainly the throwing part of his game and he has unified the Philadelphia Eagles with the will to win and when you set an example the whole organization improves from top to bottom. • Acho is still bitter about his failed time in Philly. It shows every time the Eagles are a part of the conversation. We had a “super team” in 2012 and went 4-12 because the QB play bad. We’ve had some great all around teams in the past that have accomplished nothing because they lacked a great QB. Hurts is playing great this year. The jump from last year in terms of reading the D and throwing with accuracy and anticipation is stunning, especially to anyone who has closely watched the Eagles over that time span. He honestly hasn’t had a bad game all year and is the only QB to accomplish that. He’s also a great leader, tireless worker, perfectionist, and fully committed to making himself, the Eagles, and the community better. What more does anyone need to see from him to admit he is the MVP no matter how many ways you slice and dice it. I dare to say if Jalen Reagor was starting at WR for us this year, he would be having a major bounce back season because of the dramatic improvement Hurts has shown in his ball placement to where only the receiver can catch it.

No one in 2020/2021 thought they were gon chase a chip anytime soon. Jalen came in changed the culture and howie roseman decided to go all in. He wouldn’t have done that in 2020 for wentz. • I'm not a Philly fan but I can't wait for the Eagles to win the super bowl so all this dumb talk can be dead. This the only show that wants to give Jalen and Philly the credit they deserve. Unbiased they are heads and shoulders above every team in the NFL except San Francisco but they have a legitimately great QB. If they don't win it all it's a bust season. I'm a Bama fan I knew Jalen was good we were just so loaded that we had an even better QB on our roster and now Jalen has improved to the point were he's a Top 10 QB easily.

  • Lets call it what it is. Hurts isn't a light skinned guy. He is all the way black. He can't pass as a white man. Nobody takes Lamar Jackson seriously because he can't throw the ball consistently. He can only pass to tight ends. Jalen Hurts is threatening the description of what a "duel qb" is because he can read a defense and he is very accurate. It was ok when he was just running around. Now he is dissecting defenses with his mind and qbing. This is altogether new problem the NFL has never seen. He isn't going to be covered until the media is forced to cover him. He may win the Superbowl this year.

Sure those two are pretty high up elite WRs but being able to have the output to FEED them yards says something too, same with Goedert if he's back by this Sunday. I'm an Eagles fan and I can say he is not Wentz, we made the right choice. Even if he doesn't get MVP we'd be foolish to let him go. I feel good but playoffs are what's really gonna matter. I think we can do a lot this season.

  • I absolutely love this for Hurts. I said it from the moment he was benched in the NC for Tua that his future was going to depend on how he responded to losing his starting job. Jalen handled it like a grown man the entire time. The things that standout to the majority of talking heads are their favorite QB’s physical attributes. Jalen is just built different & made for this 💩‼️ I only see it in him & Burrow. The rest of these “top tier” QBs don’t possess what those two guys have. What he has done thus far this season has been absolutely incredible especially considering how much doubt these “experts” had about him. He’s the MVP & it ain’t even close!

  • Going into the season I thought the Eagles had a great roster and would go as far as their quarterback play would take them. That was the only question mark for me. I'm beyond thrilled with his development. And I do agree that he doesn't necessarily have the biggest or most accurate arm and isn't constantly making highlight reel throws. What he is doing is taking care of the football, consistently making the right decision, and making you pay for your mistakes or even just not having the numbers to cover everybody.

    @nathanieleisenman2487@nathanieleisenman2487 Жыл бұрын
    • That's the thing, he's actually making highlight reel throws. He's had some of the best deep passes in the league. He's evolved and is in a zone where he's putting the ball in a spot only the receiver can make, and he's doing it more consistently every game. He's dangerous on his feet and in the air.

      @dankburrito8345@dankburrito8345 Жыл бұрын
  • I love you Acho but it's because no one thinks he is elevating his team like you suggested at the start. Shouts out to you though for being willing to actually look deeper into the subject. Youve been preaching to the choir these past few weeks. The o-line has been the best/top 3 in the league for years. Arguably the best center and right tackle in football. Miles Sanders has been a great runner, just plagued by injuries. He hasnt played a 16 game season since his rookie season, averagin 4-5 games missed a year. Thats a wash in my mind. We would of hit 1k the last two years if he could stay healthy. Promise you that. Moving onto the receivers. AJ Brown has been a top receiver in this league way before Jalen Hurts. Or why else did the Eagles trade a first round pick for him. Devonta Smith is another first round pick, that you could argue his progression is more so expected of his time in the league then what his RUN FIRST QB does for him. Another wash. Jalen doesnt play defense or special teams. So who is he really elevating? To try and suggest Jalen is even capable of elevating his team in the same way as say Brady, while on arguably the best roster in football is why no one takes him or anyone who defends him seriously. Cheers

  • As an Eagles fan… I’ll say the real reason why nobody wants to give Jalen his due is because our roster has been so stacked by the front office you’d have to be really bad to mess this up. That being said Jalen has been balling all season long. Nobody held having Kelce and Hill against Mahomes when he won. Or Rodgers when he had Davante Adams. Or Peyton when he had all the weapons in the world. Guys like Jalen and Lamar will always face a double standard when it comes to being in or winning the MVP conversation. Fair or not.

  • From the same talking heads who are now slighting and disrespecting Jalen, I keep hearing two contradictory arguments. 1) "Are the Eagles the best team in football?" "I don't think so. I gotta go with the Chiefs/Bills/Cowboys/49ers." 2) "Hurts' success is a result of being on a great team. They're the best team in football. Mahomes is succeeding with less. Blah, blah..." So, which is true? They can't both be correct, even though both keep dribbling from your mouths like $#@! from a sewer pipe. You're so lost that you can't even hear yourselves spouting these contradictory points. The correct answer is that BOTH ARE FALSE. The Eagles ARE the best team in the NFL, not just the most talented, the best. They have been all along, while you slackjaws were too slow to grasp it. And Jalen Hurts is dominating opponents, leading the Eagles to their victories. Anyone who actually watches the games sees how much he does on every single drive. This year, he is the best player on the best team, and the clear NFL MVP.

If Mahomes or Josh Allen or even Rogers had their team at 12-1 after 13 games ,do you think they wouldn't be the one talked about as MVP of the league? Sure they would,and rightfully so! If Dak had Dallas at 12-1 and no other QB had as good a record,he should be the leading candidate! Hurts put in a lot of work and he only stumbled ONCE.....he truly deserves this award!
