Connor Bedard is on fire right now for the Chicago Blackhawks. After two highlight reel goals against the Florida Panthers, he's finally starting to look really comfortable in the NHL. We take a deeper dive into his game, and why he can be even better as the seasons rolls on.

  • I've never wanted someone to succeed more in the NHL than this kid right here. The amount of hate he gets is appalling human behavior. I hope he continues to prove a point to every a-hole who doesn't believe in him the way he believes in himself. Good work Bedard!

    @Jakuby21@Jakuby215 ай бұрын
    • It would make sense if the kid was a cocky little douche off the ice in interviews, but he's not. Shane Wright came off that way leading up to the '22 draft, it's how Matthew Tkachuk sounds every time he's interviewed. This kid literally has the EXACT opposite demeanor and couldn't be any more respectful yet you have all these boomer hockey fans who are longing for the Tie Domi days to come back who wish all this negativity on him. Glad he's thriving, the game needs it.

  • I am a lifelong hawks fan and dont get me wrong I love our team this season. The young guys are exciting and the vets like foligno are great players to show them how it's done. But looking at all of these clips and seeing just how many great chances Bedard single-handedly creates that don't end up as a goal. Once some of the young guys progress a bit more, and when we get some other talent around him... Bedard is going to be even more of a monster.

    • I really like the coaching staff for the hawks and how they are developing the youth. They also have a 19 year old defencemen Kevin Korchinski who is stepping up on the blue line. no1 center/face of the franchise and a D-man looking like he will be in the top pair sooner than later playing serious min. That is 2 big pieces for an up and coming team. I am eager to see the growth this season And then what will happen when yet another injection of gifted rookies join next season. At least 2 centers/forwards in the big 10 could have moved up and joined this year but decided to grow a little more and try to win the NCAA tourney.

    • They have Kevin Korchinski.. a 19 year old playing D very well. If Bedard wasn't getting so much press I think a rookie playing D that well would be making more of a splash. Some of it is already out of the pipeline. I have hope this coaching staff will teach them right.

    • @nelspaulson3099 Yeah, he skates real well, has a good skill set, and great instincts. Needs to fill out his frame a bit. He's a good one.

  • I'll say... That wrister and snap shot will be terrifying goalies for decade plus. The kid reminds me of Mario Lemieux SO much. Great shot, great vision. Not the same size ofc, but he's still very similar in how he shoots and sees the ice. He still needs to learn how to play off the puck perfectly and he's gonna be annihilating defenses and goalies left and right. AND if he continues to pickpocket pucks like he does now, he could be a very real Selke candidate at some point.

  • The assists need to go up. To be a great, you need to make everyone around you better. He is young, there is a lot of time.

  • Not a Hawks fan but been watching them quite a bit since how can anyone not wanna watch this kid! And there’s two things I’d love to say: 1: Nick Foligno. That guy since being moved onto Bedard’s wing has been a shockingly spectacular fit with him, would’ve never thought they’d work so well together. 2: I don’t think enough people realize how deadly Bedard is going to get once he hits 23-24 years old. He’s still basically a kid right now but when he starts getting that extra muscle as a full grown adult my goodness he’s just going to be an unstoppable force out there! You can see him trying to push really difficult plays even now but he’s just barely lacking that pure strength needed. I really think he can challenge McDavid for being the best in the NHL once he’s reached that final growth needed!

  • A point a game was what I said was a good goal for him, and so far he’s on pace for that. More goals that I expected though

  • He didn't get the season start we all wanted (similar to Toews' first game, first shift, first shot, first goal all at once) but he looks a lot more comfortable on the ice now than he did the first couple of games.
