Joining Jools in this episode is New York's Mary J Blige who returns to the show for the fifth time to debut tracks from her forthcoming album, The London Sessions, which came about after she spent a month in the city working with recent collaborators Disclosure and Sam Smith, along with the likes of Naughty Boy and Emeli Sande.
From Southampton, a Later debut for rock trio Band of Skulls with songs from their third album, Himalayan, and there is another debut for Irish singer-songwriter Hozier whose first album is released shortly. Swedish sisters Klara and Johanna Soderberg aka First Aid Kit also debut on the show with songs from their second album, Stay Gold.

    • @@elbigotesdelatienda a song does not have to be OLD to be one of the greatest song . The lyrics are beautiful and mean something important so was the music video , the vocals were stunning and so was the music and instrumental variation . The biggest part is hozier is actual great vocalist with and without the studio music specially one of the few who absolutly do not need any sort of auto tune. Therfore obe of the greatest song . I am sick of old people thinking only old music has the capability of being called a GOAT . That is a sick way of gatekeeping titles and appreciation from artists. Yes there are heck lot of better songs made before then they are now but be fr that does not mean crap for actual good music thst happen to be new .

    • Absolutely I came across him way too late. I heard that song in a remix of some kind on a playlist at a friend's house. I LOOOOVE the lyrics and the vibe. And when I found out it just a remix. So many songs sung by some computer voice...I naturally needed to know the original. And, no questions ask. I fell in love all over again on a whole new level

    • yes but his mic should have been MUCH louder, his voice isnt heard as good as it should i think. He has an AMAZING voice. I dont want to hear the bass the piano and the instruments or vocalists, his voice is the diamond here.

    • inglishbulldog Martinha Isabel I recommend you avoid getting into sound engineering then. It's very clear the mixing is off. It happens all the time in live concerts, and if it weren't broadcast, you would see Hozier or the band signal to the sound engineer to lower/raise certain instruments. The bass is drowning his vocals.

    • Auto tune used to be a crutch for those who couldn’t sing but were part of some packaging. Now being able to sing without it is a skill? That is the very thing which makes you a singer I always thought… That non withstanding, I love this song and his voice makes it so vulnerable yet powerful at the same time. Great great song!
