How to update Firmware on Samsung Odyssey G7
Well overdue upload. Updating the firmware on The Samsung Odyssey G7 is quite easy. If you are having a the black screen or flicker issue I highly recommend giving this a go. However if like me you are having no issues I would not recommend updating the firmware.
Unfortunately I overlooked where I placed my RGB and could not go ahead with the update. Here is the link to the latest firmware 1061...
www.samsung.com/hk_en/support...
I am currently on 1041 but no flickering issues.
Next video will be on Samsung G7 best settings. Or a quick video on rolling back firmware.
Do not delete any G7 firmware you download as Samsung seem to take old versions off their website.
Hope this video helps and gives confidence in updating the firmware.

Great vid bud 👊🏾
hi it will have the same for G5?
Thank you for this video. When I try to update I get a pop-up message saying "The software version of the device is later than the software version of the update file.", even though I've just downloaded the latest one, same as you. The current version of the driver is the same as yours on the video M-TG700CCAA-1016.1.
Hey maybe a silly question but did you check your version. Go to settings and then information will show you firmware version. Other thing to check is the USB 2.0 and is it in port 1 at the back of the monitor?? Let me know. Thanks G
I have the same problem, any help?
My friend, I bought a 4090 and now I'm going to play games at 240hz, I'm struggling a lot with the configuration and the only certainty is the MBR response time, could you tell me what image configuration you left and your black equalizer?
Sorry for late reply. I no longer have the G7 I have moved to Alienware AW3423DWF QD-OLED and it’s AMAZING! Still loved the G7 as I didn’t have too many issues. From memory I believe I had it around 11-13. But search best settings on here and see what works for you. I liked the contrast.
Hi man, This update will work on my LS28AG700 Samsung monitor?
Hi Man. I don’t think so. Look at updates via Samsung to be safe www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/LS28AG700NUXXU/#downloads
I tried both ports. Says cannot find file
I have the Neo G8 monitor. i started using it straight from the box a few months now, and i have zero issues with it. So no need to bother updating it. If i don't experience any issues with it, is this correct?
100% I wouldn’t be updating unless there is a specific issue or use case. For example my Alienware had a known HDR1000 peak issue. Firmware roled out to address this. Updated on this occasion.
@Thebeardedbios Ok, thanks for answering
for past week every time i exit (alt-F4 too) Battlefield 2042 my pc hangs or my G7 monitor shows black screen, the CPU usage is still busy as i set my RAM RGB to show CPU status. I have to power cycle to restart windows. The Nvidia driver past week was 545.84 and last night updated to 545.92 and still the same. I reinstalled the game, turn off DLSS, borderless, fullscreen and tried even clearing shader caches from the game and Nvidia folders still no joy. My G7 fw is 1010.3 and latest is 1016.1 would this fix a black screen issue? PC Specs: i7 8700K RTX 4070 Ti Windows 11 OS and game installed on same NVME SSD Asus ROG Maximus X motherboard
To me personally this sounds more like the PC hanging than a monitor issue. However it could be worth trying to update firmware. It’s always worth updating if you’re experiencing issues.is it only happening in 2042 or any other game? Have you tried verifying the integrity of the game files?
open nividia control panel and change output color depth into 8 in stead of 10
@@AhmedG46naah, fixed it months ago it has something to do with the anti-cheat system EA uses clash with Asus software.
@@debonair6764 how exactly did you end up fixing it? I'm having the same problem where my monitor will randomly go black while gaming
ty very much
No prob! Please sub :)
Is there any way to make firmware update through windows or any other way? My jog button doesnt work properly and some say after installing the new firmware it solved the issue. I just wan to give it a try before seeking further solution like replacing the part
Hey. I’m sorry I don’t believe there is. If there is I’m not aware of how you would do this. Most of what I have researched all point to the OSD on the monitor.
@@Thebeardedbios Hi again, i could do the firmware update from OSD... Now jog button works just fine. I dont suggest banging on jog button as some people adivce like that.
@@TheDarbanville good stuff glad it worked out 💪🏻
Try to pat lightly a few times at the Samsung logo, after this trick my buttons works correctly.
So my g7 has coil whine noise. should i return it. or is it like this with all the g7 monitors
Me personally. No coil whine or noise from it. Is yours the same curved screen monitor? That sounds concerning to be honest. I would worry about the longevity. www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/p9q95z/samsung_odyssey_g7_coil_whine_240hz/
@@Thebeardedbios yes. It is the same monitor as yours. I think am going to return it. And try another unit. If the same problem accured. I will consider a different monitor. Thanx for ur reply!
@@Rash_Vibe thank that’s a good shout. Hopefully next one no issues. If you get a good g7. They are amazing. Really loved mine. Price to performance is epic. But my Alienware I got at a bargain so cannot complain
why they dont include a wifi module on the most expensive monitor? is the easiest way to update
Agreed. Good shout to be fair. Maybe a spacing issue. Just upgraded to the Alienware AW3423DWF and I’m saying goodbye to my beloved G7. Pray for no burn in lol
When i download the files, I can only find the disk image file and no bin file, what iam i doing wrong?
Hi sorry for the late reply. Are you downloading them from the official Samsung site. Also have you got software winrar (it’s free) to extra the file. After extracted it may show the .bin file. Just double check you are downloading the correct file from Samsung. If you are then try Winrar. Please let us know how you get on
@@Thebeardedbios problem solved itself. the file never changed to bin, however eventually worked with the image file somehow. winrar was used.
@@chuchmunk9052 strange I never came across the disk image issue. Glad it worked out. Did it all update okay!?
all good! @@Thebeardedbios
how to you get that fast response time on your monitor?
You do it through the on screen display menu. I will add a video soon about best settings and what different options do you
@Thebeardedbios I used to be able to put 240hz on rainbow six siege and in settings on windows but now it's only 144hz why is that ? Can you maybe help
@@AndyJoelina Either you dont have a displayport cable or you haven't set the settings on the samsung monitor to be 244hz.
Hey bro i got a question. Soo i got the 28" samsung odyssey g7 and when i touch the control panel. It doesent opne the blue screen menu it does open instead of the smarttv menu. Do you know how i can fix that? I play on ps5
Hey I haven’t personally used the 28 4k g7 but I am guessing is there an option to move the button in a direction. Left or right etc. this might toggle the menu or by pressing the button in.
Do us a favour and let us know how you get on thanks
@@Thebeardedbios hey bro. So i download the latest version for my monitor its version 1604 and it still doesent pop up the blue game bar... should i need to do something on settings or?...
@@hamudiFF7 I maybe confused but are you trying to access the blue OSD menu to change screen settings yea? It should work by just toggling that button at the bottom of the screen? I watched a view videos and everyone triggers it on. Got this from Samsung “On models with a Jog Button, press the jog button to display the options, then press Up and select Menu by pressing the Jog Button in again. While on the Menu screen, hold the jog button to the left for 10 seconds .”
www.samsung.com/ph/support/computing/my-samsung-monitor-show-menu-lock-how-do-i-unlock-it/
Hey , i used to be able to put 240hz on R6 and windows settings but now its only 144hz why is that
Make sure on the monitor OSD(menu) you have 240hz selected under game section and refresh rate. Also check your NVIDIA control panel or AMD equivalent. Of none of this works try resetting your monitor through the OSD under support section
@@Thebeardedbios I will try that tomorrow because 240hz is activated but today I was tryna see something on nvidia and noticed no 240 only 144 :/
@@AndyJoelina let us know how you get on sure thanks
@@Thebeardedbios I will thank you
@Thebeardedbios hey should I have adaptive sync on or off ?
Mine just says no update files found on your usb device
Few things to try: Make sure usb formatted to fat32 Make sure files extracted and nothing else on drive Try different usb (if 3.0 go for 2.0) Double check it’s the right firmware update for your model
AND WHAT IS DIFFERENT AFTER UPDATE MY FRIEND?
Sorry for late reply. Only recommend updating if you are having issues or feel the need. On the Samsung website in the link it provides what the update fixes/achieves
I can't find the usb port in my odyssey g5
Hey unfortunately I’m pretty sure the G5 hasn’t got usb ports to update. This is for the g7. States on the Samsung website “no usb ports” www.samsung.com/uk/business/monitors/gaming/odyssey-g5-cg55t-lc32g55tqwuxen/
could not updating this be the reason why my monitor keeps blacking out during gaming??
It could be potentially but that sounds like strange behaviour. Not guaranteed but one of the updates sorted a flickering issue so could work.
I have the same problem here. Hopefully the update fixes everything. Did you try it out?
@@linardis are you playing on pc or console. Have you tried other cables and /or ports first? Reset the monitor settings to default via the monitor OSD menu? If that all doesn’t work I would try a firmware update.
@@Thebeardedbios I've tried everything. And the software is updated

Can you connect usb to your pc to download firmware? I’m new to pc
Yes you can. You actually need to connect it to your PC then after the usb is formatted and you download the firmware to the usb you then connect it to the back of your monitor. Avoid USB 3.0 if you can
@@Thebeardedbios hey does it have to be formatted in fat32 I think it was?
@@kingirish69 sorry for late reply. Yes go with fat32. Also if you have any difficulty use usb 2.0. If it’s 3 go with usb 3.0. My first USB I had no joy
