Today I have a video on How to Update your Samsung Odyssey G7 Monitor's Firmware. Its very simple and here's an easy step by step on how to. If a USB3.0/3.1 Stick does not work try a USB 2.0 stick... that works for me when the former wasn't recognized.

I'll say this before i watch this. This is my last attempt to update this monitor. I love it but it is absurd how complicated it is to update. I really hope this video will work. I am taking a break and then attempting my last try, otherwise im going to the store and i'll make trouble until they update it for me. I've already spent hours, removing the monitor, removing the back panels, trying different usb configurations..... absurd.

A huge thank you for this video ! I was able to install the latest firmware and fix the problem I was having with the "monitor menu (JOG) button". I no longer had access to the menu screen with the button for several months, I had to press very hard on the middle button and the menu and finally appeared.
I found my old 2gb USB stick in storage, worked like a charm. Thank you.

Dude thank you for posting that image of the instructions for the USB configuration. I searched high and low for that and it was exactly what I needed. I cleared my USB drive and made sure I only had the one .bin file on there and it worked.

Nice! Which 3080 are you getting. I have my heart set on the Asus Strix 3080. The the Asus Tuf series card is really good and even beats msi so the Strix will be even better I hope.

Nice!! It now accepts a 4k signal. To me... 4k at 60hz (4k120hz does not work) looks really clear. I keep on standard also as pcrgb looks too crushed in the dark dept. But I play on cinema preset... so thats why..
Will this monitor beable to push 120 fps on the ps5? As ive got the 32 inch coming to go with my ps5
@@esrghost6109 They've just released an update so it can run 4k resolution for the PS5, turn off free sync though im pretty sure for the 120fps

Friends who can't upload. Whether you use USB 2.0 or a mountain old usb, the problem will be fixed. I had the same problem and used an older usb stick instead of usb 3.0 the problem was fixed.

Thx friend... I'll check Xbox and Ps4 asap but an HDMI 2.0 cable is enough. You only need a 2.1 cable to a port that uses that and the G7 does not. Its only a 2.0 port.
Viktors Reality 4k does work on xbox x, just managed with turning off freesync with 144 hz. Now its worth every penny. No bleeding and no screen tearing.

I use Nvidia experience to be up to date. I am sure amd has a similar software. I always clean install every new driver thru custom install in the experience process

Yes friend.. the G70A is an .img file while the reg G7 is .bin file. Sorry for the late reply. I apologize...

Kinda late but for anybody who's still having trouble with the usb try formatting it using "Rufus" instead of windows. This is the only thing that got my monitor to read the usb and update.

Install or open Nvidia GeForce experience. It will automatically update and download for you... its called Nvidia GeForce experience.

Thank you for your video. I have a question, on some other videos on youtube i saw the 240 hz and the input lag glowing with yellow color like the adaptive s-sync ,but for some reason i have the same outlook of your video with only the adaptive-sync glowing with yellow. Also, i can not change the refresh rate or the input lag as the options are in grey and when i press it it shows " function is not available"
Sorry. What was the question? Did you want both to glow yellow or did you want to adjust hz to a different number. I recently was trying different things so it was fresh in my mind.

Hi dude. Maybe crazy question, i bought it today. And i tried to update the firmware. It has a current version of 1008.1 but on samsung it doesn't show a update only manual readings for download. How i do i know the update i have is current?
Also does support for 4K resolution mean I could play a pc game and 4K and it down scales or is it only devices connected through hdmis that would downscale?
Thats a good question. So far there are no options for that 4k signal on PC... ill see also. That would be Interesting but a 1440p native res plus less taxing on your gpu is better but still it would be cool to see if it accepts it. But So far nothing appears......
I purchased this monitor, specifically (Samsung - 25" Odyssey G40B FHD IPS 240Hz 1ms G-Sync Gaming Monitor - Black Model: LS25BG402ENXGO) - I use Xbox Series S. I hooked it up last night & the timing on my buttons was much slower. I play NBA 2K & the shooting is based on timing.. So for example if my release timing for the shot was say 1.5 ms it was now almost double & the visual cue didn't match anymore.. Any idea why? I went back to my older Sony TV (4k) and it was back to normal timing. Any insight as to why this may be? Could it be because I didn't adjust settings and update firmware. I literally took it out the box and plugged it in to start and play...

Hi there, I was watching the video but I still have a question, does the flickering occur with Free-Sync as well? And is there any other issues with the monitor? Thank you
I don't get any flickering unless I go below 80fps while gsync is On. That's it... but that is normal according to the gsync range. Issue could be with game sub menus locked at 30/60fps (my theory)

IF THE MONITOR CAN'T FIND AN UPDATE ON YOUR USB DEVICE JUST DON'T CHANGE THE FORMAT FROM ".img" to ".bin". I struggled for 1 hour and then tried this way and worked

Thanks for the video very helpful.....just one thing and hopefully you can help out....I just downloaded the latest firmware and save it onto a flash drive. Then plugged the drive in to do the update, and it sure enough it updated. Then the monitor turned it self off but never turned back on. I then unplugged the cord form the power outlet and waited a few minutes to plug it back. But I can’t get it to turn on again?..what can I do now?..any help would be appreciated!
So you tried connecting it again and still nothing? Did you remove the flash drive?

I love the video- Im just having a hard time opening the update file on a mac then after I transfer the file over to usb stick and plug in to monitor it says it can't find any files one stick. Any extra steps that I need to take on a macbook air?

Hey Vik so do I need to update the firmware if I’m only using the monitor for my Ps5? If yes then can I do it via laptop because I don’t have a cpu.
You don't need to uodaye if you are ok with what you see. I update to show or see anything major but so far the new updates have not shown anything new. There is not even an updated changelog by samsung.

You may have to re do your settings if you follow on disconnecting everything. But it does carry over... not a big deal tho...
Viktor, what should the monitors firmware version be at as of today, 3/28/2022? Than you.
In the Us its the 1014.1 it seems for the Vurved G7 line. I have not tried it yet.
One tip for pepole who struggle - in my case thing that helped was deleting label while formatting usb stick in rufus (fat32 not bootable and deleting icon and autorun file in main catalog of usb stick).
Be also wary about System Volume Information folder - i have tried to disable services etc. but what has worked for me was to run cmd with admin rights and removing it manually from drive (it should not appear until next drive mount)
thank you for the Rufus idea, been banging my head against the wall off an on for days. Formatting in Rufus is what fixed it.

After the update. First turn off the monitor normally then Unplug everything for 15-20min.

Yes.. I do also get 240hz thru a display port cable. Was that the question?
@@ViktorsReality yes, but it does not work, the monitor does not recognize the display port cable, it have not any image, only work with a HDMI cable but only with 144 hz

Friend.. thankfully I have not had any issues or bad experience with it. O am 100% happy with it and would not sell or trade for another right now other than the LG27GN950. Its 4k screen is amazing.. but Other than using on the G7 a USB 2.0 stick that works... my new USB 3.0 does not. But the panel is clear and no smear. I do like he curve for single player games. I will do this wk a G7 vs LG4k video.. its going to be very close in terms of quality on both.

Some are saying it's already updated who have just received it. But you may still need to. The Newest firmware is 1009.3.

You need the bin. file on the stick. As long as you download the bin. file to the stick. Then you can update with the stick (connected to the outer USB port) to the monitor by itself.

Can freesync be on without causing problems for ps4 pro and up and coming ps5 since the new 1009.3 update or should we still leave it off for best fps ect
I have not tried the G7 on console which I will today. I'm not sure if Sony supports a VRR option at least its not in the menu on the PS5... not yet anyway..
So do you think this monitor is abit of a waste of money cause i cant get the maximise the hz the monitor can push if using a console what monitor would you recommend as i know theres cheaper options which can still get that 120 fps and 4k? If i had pc i would defo keep this monitor

Hi... it looks like they removed the firmware from the uk site now.. it was before.. tho I have tested and downloaded the software. Ill make a video of it but all it is... it's a multi window setup for you monitor. Standard in windows is 2 or 4 but with this you can do many combinations of windows.. its very handy if you need it. It gives an alert that its not recommended by windows alert but I had no issue. I'll show in a video...
Did this update also allow a native 4k output for windows? Or just Xbox.
For consoles but I have not tried on PC. Someone had said thru custom resolution you can but I'm not sure. I'll take a look when I reconnect soon.

for those of you that are having issues with the monitor saying no USB drive detected. Unplug the USB cable from your computer to the monitor then run the firmware update

Thx friend... Im on newest 1007.1 and newest nvidia drivers. Again no issues other than you need to be above 80fps to get no flickers with gsync On. Other than that no issues at all. Basically as long as you have a 2070+ or 3070+ you will be ok. Also you will need to adjust your settings to stay above 80fps if u need gsync on. If its off then no flickers at all.

I tried to update my samsung monitor like you but i see on my screen no usb device detected idk why but i was using HDMI cable btw. I plug SS cable in usb and plug usb in monitor's usb ports and tried to usb with jog button but it didnt work sometimes i see file name on screen but i see no updates file found on usb device what should i do?

its a usb hub connecton cable. you connect it to your pc to enable the 2 usb ports next to it to be used as if it were your desktop. say a charger anything that needs a usb connection. super handy.

I use a SanDisk usb. I believe the trouble is it needs to be a low size card. I have a link in the description.
Hey man, I got this monitor 3 days ago and when I went into the Nvidia panel to turn on GSync it said that "selected display is not validated as G-Sync compatible". I'm using the DP cable it came in the box and I already updated the monitors firmware and my GTX 1060 to the latest version (451.67) but it still shows as not validated. Do you have any idea on how I can solve this?
Update: it seems that the 27inch variant is getting certified in the next driver update as shown in the list www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/g-sync-monitors/specs/
Update 2: The new gpu drivers update gave the 27in variant official G-Sync support. While I don't experience any flickering whenever I open Task Manager the legacy mouse settings the window itself starts to blink rapidly. Did you experience anything like that with your unit?
I get flickering while using my s322dgf and G7 when using editing software or rgb software while gsync is on. I have since disabled razer synapsr and other rgb software and it has minimized the flicker (if its there I can't see it). Try that if you ever see any. Wierd tho as by doing that on both now I can't see any flicker while editing...

What do you mean you had to close the monitor. I have the file on the 2.0 usb in the correct format and I have the usb in the correct input. It recognizes that the usb is there but tells me no update files found on your usb drive. Any help would be great. Thanks

Can I ask something? I love the monitor and the colour of it, but in destiny 2 I see absolutely nothing sometimes. Do you know how to light up the dark a little?
What preset do you have it on? Cinema (thats how I have it) does not let you change B. Equalizer. Its on 13 on Cinema. Try a different preset or go into user/custom and lower until you are happy with it. 10 being default id say.

You should be fine. Any firmware above 1009.3 will have the VRR monitor Update. As long as you are there and happy with the picture you are good to go..

If you have a USB2 extender, you can use that to downgrade your USB3 stick. Worked for me at least.

Can I update this monitor using my laptop and do I only need to purchase one SanDisk 64GB Cruzer Fit USB 2.0 to plug into the monitor,like I don't have to plug anything into my laptop do I???
Buy the 8gb SanDisk. I have the 8gb. But u need to download the file to a laptop or pc and then just put the .bin or .img file onto the stick. Then the stick to the outer USB port of the monitor. The monitor only reads the software update thru a usb stick.

Hi... you have to disable freesync in the monitor menu.. you also might have to select hdmi instead of auto. (But I think its just remove freesync)
when i go to flash my micro sd fat 32 is not an option any opinions on this one
I was having some issues but I got it to work. Make sure the cord between the HDMI and the power is unplugged and turn the power on the monitor off and on once the drive is plugged in.
Just bought the G7 32" hope i made the right choice for console gaming only.
The G7 27" or 32" is the best VA panel Monitor for console gaming. Plus the 1000r curve is different. Once you get used to the curve flat looks weird. 😆
