tony getting dropped then immediately getting back up and cutting pettis with a spinning elbow has been largely unrecognized

There was a reason why Tony was rightfully called El Cucuy. Pettis looked he just crawled out of a car wreck. Incredible fight.

Anthony pettis is super underrated. Dude always comes to fight.

He was the grim reaper of LW for a long time, but actual top tier competition (#6 and higher) really exposed the flaws in his game. Gaethje kind of laid out the keys to beating Tony. Clean striking, patience, and not allowing him to use cardio as a weapon.

Hard to say, Ferguson took that fight after prepping a long time for Khabib. His camp for Justin would have been a lot different.

@@Shallowballow Yeah he did have a lot going on in his personal life too, but I think his instincts did kick in, he just got outclased by Justin who is a phenomenal fighter as well. At the top level where those guys were being just a bit off in your prepwork can have catastrophic consequences. Hopefully Tony will find a win before retiring healthily.
