  • Is there much other writings about Mishima's opinion on Christianity? Also iirc the main love interest in his fictionalized autobiography "Confessions of a Mask" was Christian

    @Nicholas-gv8ok@Nicholas-gv8ok8 ай бұрын
    • His essays still lack good translations, but Masaki (Barbarization à la Japonaise) seems to be fixing that. Mishima mentions Christianity a few times in "The Thought of the Universal Great Peace", and in "The Way of the Samurai" speaks positively about it as a philosophy of love, and its ability to gather so many followers who had a purpose which they were willing to die for. But I suppose he wouldn't care for the more modern, feminized form of Christianity. And he dislikes the Christian distinction made between the eros & agape forms of love.

      @pbanks@pbanks8 ай бұрын
    • @@pbankshe talks about the distinction between eros and agape in code of the samurai today, right? Does it come out that he dislikes it? It seems to me like he is making excuses for his homosexuality in that part.

  • Mishima is correct; his honesty is refreshing and admirable. I especially liked his take on chivalry. Most men attempting to criticize feminism still believe that chivalry is a good thing, and it is despicable to participate in chivalric acts just to get a woman to like you more. It's really hard to cope with being born as a woman, knowing that the heights and dephts of male thinking will never be available to you. Not to mention the possibility of being infertile, which will cause your life to be essentially close to useless.

    • @@leonhauptmann3301Well, you can still work in the medical field, prescibe medication and wipe old people's butts as a woman, but overall, working in some depersonalised clinic will make only have a shortterm positive effect on the wellbeing of people, and holds no longterm benefit for society. All of the greatest things that have been achieved in this world have been achieved by men. Even if you look at truly exceptional women: Mary Shelley couldn't write like Dostoevsky, Roza Shanina couldn't shoot like Simo Häyhä, Jean d'Arc is nothing compared to Napoleon. What you can do, is give birth to a son, but not if you're infertile.

  • What I don’t get about anti-Christian traditionalists is this: it’s like I’m Schrödingers Christian in some ways; chivalry makes us some kind of simp but sexual morality makes us misogynists ??

    @ofmonadsandnomads9500@ofmonadsandnomads95007 ай бұрын
    • There is a fine line between being generous and being a simp. Difference is cost. If you are a man of status, you do not open the door for a cheap slore. By doing so you show you are willing to serve. By that service you display that you are beneath her. If she is a woman of class, you don"t have to have the optics of the servant of the slore, therefore its not as costly. Expensive gifts are a similar story. Dont buy a woman expensive gifts if you don't have that kind of money laying around collecting dust. Once again it is a sign of submission. And not to god, but the wordly authority of a woman

  • I'm a woman and I don't desagree on all, but a healthy cooperation would be ideal. I can understand the hard destiny of man now. Of course I will write the book and at least to find all the difference between the two sex. In arts? There are really very few exption and yes right on that one. But finnally for a man must be so frustrating to depend so much on women, from birth and after desire. 10 min only? That is not enough. I never liked romantics and since ever. And what you mean by fool? Yes the woman lives longer to look after you when you are old so...... And we have others skills....so...
