As a mechanical engineer, I love how you take us through the thought behind the systems you build, and the whole 'trial and error' process of what is working and what isn't or needs to be improved. A very inspiring channel, I wish I could have the skill to make such things.
Same here. Seeing him make this stuff is so cool but God I would not have the patience nor the required attention span
I mean I really wish this stuff existed when I was a kid. Kids have so much to learn with these days.
aren’t you a mechanical engineer?
I think he means Lego skills
I literally drive a tank for a living, and the near replication of the track system was incredibly impressive
You are very creative I hope you keep making more videos ❤
This is a weapon i know that a flying card can give a nasty cut
As a tank enthusiast, I must say that you did that suspension pretty darn well, and that you didn't just stick wit the 1st version you made like other people make
Look up sariels Lego garage
Yeah I also appreciated that he included a depression and elevation system as well as bothering to add armor plates
I mean… he IS from Germany.
Now this is what you call a satisfying video

It’s also nice that he shows every step of the process because it makes it possible for viewers to recreate it.

Yea nice! Like an actual gun or artillery piece would do.
At first I was like "haha I'd fire it at my wife, friends, and kids!" But then I saw the cards stabbing shit and I was like HELLL NO Also live how you succinctly demonstrated why suspension on a tank is so bloody important.
Just curious, how much damage could that do to a person? Honestly, I'd like to have one that doesn't shoot the cards so violently so it can be used for card games.
@@LloydTheZephyrian not that much since our skin is pretty elastic. one summer i had too much time on my hands so i learned throwing cards. it's actually pretty easy to get them stuck in styrofoam (or in one case a case a cactus). just don't shoot somebody in the eye ^^ (or still just dont shoot at people)
@@LloydTheZephyrian If it can do a considerable amount of damage to a person, I'm making one just to screw over people I hate (from a distance just so they don't know who is remotely controlling it)

This is absolutely amazing! When I had Lego technic 20 years ago it was still so much more limited, plus I had nowhere near the abilities shown here. It's absolutely incredible what you can do with Lego, and the most amazing thing of all to me is the sheer power (and accuracy) of the firing mechanism. Well done!
20 years ago was my time for lego technic too and that is the reason why I got back into it. I would miss out on so many parts and the new strong motors. And now I can afford to buy the parts, 20 years ago I could not really :)
@@BrickTechnology Good for you! I should do the same one of these days, except I would never be anything like as good as you are!
@@BrickTechnology kartlarla Lego'dan
Yeah I myself never got into lego technic (not sure why this channel shows up in my feed every once in a while actually but it I'm glad it does) but I can still appreciate that some serious talent is on show here. Especially with keeping the turret aiming in the same place and stabilized while the tank body is rotating. Modern-ish+ tanks do that but they do it with gyroscopes and computers and stuff so it's really neat one can pull off the same thing with lego. Guess you can stick something equivalent to a Raspberry Pi on technic stuff and inject code into those things? At least that's the only way I can imagine doing some of this stuff - maybe I'm overthinking it.
@@angryzergling7832 That's really interesting, I wouldn't have known any of that but what you say makes sense. To be honest, I COULD be wrong but I think this is just good old (or rather new) Lego Technic mechanics and whizzy-whirring cogs and wheels here. I suppose, although I'm not an engineer so maybe I'm wrong here, on a smaller scale (than life-size tanks) there is more scope to achieve physically stable and functional systems without any "intelligent"/code-driven inputs... But I don't know! I do know they use AI and stuff with Lego for some purposes, e.g. to run Lego machines which can solve a Rubik's Cube, for obvious reasons. But I got the impression in this video it was just extremely sophisticated mechanics and wires and basic controls.
Little things like the way the springs that keep tension on the card stack over-centre to allow easy reloading is what keeps me coming back
This guy is an actual genius...how the hell does he make all of this work so perfectly...bravo. One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen!

This is what my Lego builds looked like in my head when I was kid. Impressive stuff.
When I first started building with the Technic studless system, I constantly thought I was over-building everything! Then, I bought some official Technic sets, and realized, if anything, I was UNDER building. 🤣Love watching how similar problems lead to similar solutions, I recognized techniques I've used on tracked vehicles in your build.

For me, the most satisfying part is when you hear the sound of the tank before it shoots. It sounds like it is charging up then it feels like it will shoot a long light beam just like in anime

Damn LEGO's come a long way! When I was young Technic had just been introduced, and now the complexity is such you can build almost anything this side of a space shuttle! I wonder if kids today even know what LEGO is? Seems like anything that doesn't have a screen, is just furniture to them.
Love bow modest you are and give credit to the lego designers who came up with some of the building techniques

Hi there, absolutely love your videos, just wondering how much of your builds are designed before hand? With the complexity you incorporate do you just work from a design concept or do you rigorously plan the builds before hand in detail?
If Tony Stark had lego as a kid...
This video just showed up in my recommended and I clicked at it halfheartedly and thought I'm gonna be bored, but how wrong was I! Tanks never disappoint. This is just so cool and I want more!

Holy Tactile feedback Batman. The satisfaction from those "clacks" is other-worldly.
I would love some very thin cards made from metal, and sharp... Sick build, freaking awesome! You should put several of those along the border to the east!

I'm amazed that you were using regular cheap cards (only coated with plastic, not fully plastic ones) and still got all those great results. Well done!
Great point!
Excellent build! Tank track and suspension spot on. As an addon I would try for a laser pointer, and try for some stabilization of the card thrower chassis. I noticed as it is throwing it rocks back and forth a bit (I believe caused by the wheel weight as it catches just briefly to throw each card) causing a bit of "bobble head" action.
I'm not sure what specifically I like about the sound effects of lego part assembly in the videos on this channel. I just know that I like it.

Thank you so much for this built. My son was mesmerized and now tries to replicate some of your techniques. I fear for my life should he succeed. He lacks many technic pieces, though. Can you give advice on a minimal set of parts we need to have to built similar things. Not in that category, of course, but just the essential lego technic parts and motors you use the most. I tried to track them all but lost focus pretty fast.

This probably is how the terminators are birthed, but boston dynamics already has sealed our fates there. Thank you. It's interesting just how many videos like this end up using the roller bearings from TECHNIC set 42082. Thanks, LEGO!
I never thought of building the tension adjuster like that, usually when I build them (and it grants greater efficieny to the vehicle) I put them on a straigth spring powered boom, but those would twist easily if drove wrong. I love the way you built it !
