Wow, had no idea you could convert an SMG to a 6 speed. This makes SMG M3s look super appealing since they're usually lower priced.
Man, so glad this randomly came up today. I've watch probably 10 manual swap vids and NONE of them talked about putting threads in and swapping cylinders. Was about to install this thing. That woulda sucked!!

Are you able to convert a E85 Z4 3.0 2003 SMG to manual? Depending on the price, I would like to do it.
the plan was to buy a underpriced M3 SMG and then do the Manual convert cause manuals be climbing,

So you couldn't just swap the manual bell housing onto the smg transmission? That way you could avoid having to tap that sensor, or no?
Well that's what I did: I tool my bellhousing off from my original 6sp that was on the car, and put it on to the smg trans and then tapped into the sensor part. From what I understand, that sensor is responsible for cruise control and I want a fully functioning car so I tapped into it. I know some people dont tap it but then they're loosing the cruise control function.
@@YEVSBUILDS gotcha. Great video, I plan on doing the same to mine soon. First and second are super clunky, and the noise is coming from the center of the trans. Where did you find an smg so cheaply?

Τhe flywheel you putt on it its the same as previous video...jbr kit or you putt the Oem one ??
No I put the single mass flywheel that was with the kit

New to BMW world. Did you just turn an automatic transmission into a manual?
Hahah well...kind of.. The "automatic" E46 M3 trans is exactly the same as the manual, just with a different bellhousing in essence.
$300 for that transmission is nothing ! So the transmission is practically the same ? You all change Detent pins ? I will do that on mine when swapping it
The transmissions are exactly the same besides those few pins and sleeves you saw and the bell housing has a spring tensioner in it, that's it.
