The Biggest Lion Pride in the Kruger National Park

This massive Lion Pride at full strength consists of around 30 lions known as the Transport dam Mega pride.
The Transport dam mega pride is currently one of the biggest lion prides in the Kruger National park South Africa. Controlled by their 2 pride males, with one of the Transport dam males being easy to recognise with a big cut in his nose. When both pride males are present the pride there has been reports of over 30 lions at sightings. At this sighting we counted around 20 lions as they crossed infront of our vehicle with the youngest members and 2 pride males not present. The pride covers a big territory with lots of mouths to feed. We saw them on the H1-1 on this occasion north east of Transport dam. They are frequently seen between the H1-1, S65 and H3 and enjoy spending time at Transport dam on the H1-1 and Kwaggaspan on the H3.
The two pride males are spending less time with the mega pride and are more frequently seen with 3 lionesses from the renosterkoppies pride.

  • It's rare to see this mega pride in wildlife. You can imagine how wild beasts thrived in ancient times without human interference.

    • To think that as late as the 1970s there were 250K lions still living in the wild; numbers that would make any wildlife biologist/lover of nature howl with joy today!!! Current lion population estimates range from 30 000 to as few as 16,000 lions living freely. Horrible 😢

  • She is beautiful to see the Transport Dam pride💞and to know that they are not all there is incredible...it must be something to see them all together. The sub adults are handsome💞it seems to be a pride close to each other, I hope the rest of the pride is well as well as the Transport Dam males💞(which I would have liked to see) and I also hope that they continue to visit this pride from time to time… Thank you for the video🙂

The Mayanbula’s almost have 30 strong, they have about 17 cubs, 6 lionesses & 3 males (I might be off but it’s something like that lol) I would love to see more of this pride. They are absolutely breathtaking. Gorgeous!!!! I love them all!!! ❤❤❤❤

    • @@falanajerido875yes it looks like there’s only sub adults & no cubs. The 2 pride males don’t spend much time with this pride, they’ve been busy with some females in the Renosterkoppies pride. So maybe that’s why there’s no cubs.

  • That's more like a herd of lions instead of a pride. I counted around 35 lions and that means there must be 40 plus. Never knew lion prides could outnumbered herds of elephants, cape buffalo, zebras, antelope, dogs and hyenas. Hope they keep an eye on this pride so we can see more of this majestic pride.

  • For having to feed so many mouths, it seems that the lioness mothers do it very well. It helps a lot to that pride that there is no lion cub since everyone after the lionesses are already young lions about to enter adulthood.
