DIY Solar Power Bank from Old Laptop Battery

Learn- How to make a Solar power operated USB power bank at home. i used a old laptop battery for this project and two module which is 5v charging module and power booster.
inside of laptop battery i got 6 individual cell (Samsung 18650) and each cell has 3.7 volt 2600mah power but i used only 4 cell.
Required Material-
1. 5Volt Charging Module
2. Power Boost Module(5v, 1amp)
3. Small solar panel
4. Old Laptop Battery
5. On-Off Switch
6. Box.

  • you can remove the onboard led of step up module is unless in you case, you save 20mA, and leds of the lithium charger module. You can save up to about 40mA

  • I have a question that do we need to use BMS to balance the 18650 battery ? Can we make a larger watts battery ? Example 4pcs in one lot in your example, total 4 lot of 4pcs, in result of 16pcs energy storage.

  • I'm no electrician but if the switch is on the pos + in feed then it won't charge batterys unless the switch is to on why not put the switch by the + out then battery can charge but no power going to the booster let me know if I'm wrong ?

  • The sundorce solar power is too weak, can only trickle charge, for my case. Most often time electricity from phone run backward to power bank? I am planning to make this to connect to my windmilf device that could be attach to car or bicycle. Continuous kinetic transfer to kinetic and then potential is better than nonspontaneous chrmical/solar to potential?

    • you can get 2 6V 520mA solar panels and hook them up in parallel, then it will charge like you plug it in the socket

    • +Ahmed Rashad when your battery is completely discharged then you can calculate the charging time by voltage current and battery's capacity.If battery is rated 5 volt and 1000mah then you can fully charge this battery by solar panel rated 5v and 500ma in 2 hrs.

    • i don't mean the mobile battery , i mean the internal battery of solar power bank ! how can i calculate charging time for it ?? with i don't know the battery of solar power bank completely charged or not . to can i dim the light and disconnect the charging cable .. to can i save the internal battery's ??
