The reason I like this youtube channel, he doesn't just shoot stuff and blow stuff up, he's actually teaching you stuff while at the same time having fun and making it entertaining, not to mention you can tell he has much appreciation for the tools he uses.
And it's obvious he's really enjoying himself while he does it. The laugh always makes me smile (as does the dry sense of humor). Thanks for the videos.
yeah. presentation and presenter's overall mood goes a long way when putting on a show. topic of discussion enough sometimes isn't enough to keep the viewer/listener tuned in. Mark Levine offers similar political views to Michael Savage; yet it's hard to stay tuned to Levine for more than 10 minutes, while I can listen to Savage for 10 hours straight and feel the show was cut too short when it's over after 10 hours.
You know he was an actual schoolteacher right? he's alrdy had that "knack" for teaching but keeping you entertained. im just jealous of all his ex-students.

For anyone that argues against the existence of stopping power, watch the Henry Rifle knock over that 15-17 lb propane tank at 20:34
The stopping power does not exist only in handguns as the temporal cavity generated during the moment when the projectile is crossing the body due to the elasticity of the tissues of the human body returns to its place leaving the permanent cavity with an approximate diameter of the caliber of the short weapon used. In other types of weapons such as shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, machine guns, among others, the permanent cavity is the size of the temporal cavity because the energy of the projectile is very large and tissue tearing occurs during the emergence of the temporal cavity.
@@error452 I was not aware of this. I believed long arms did not possess stopping power. Do you know where I could find information to corroborate your claims? Not saying I doubt you, I just want to read it for myself.
The caliber he's using isn't what Henry's used, they used a .44 cal round that is much less powerful than the .45 long colt.

Hickok45 is such an excellent and knowledgeable gun expert. He's so great to watch. We own an original 1860 Henry with inscriptions on the brass. Got an old box of .44-40's that are way past expiration date! Was our great grandfather's rifle passed down. Rifle was probably shot last in the 1920's or 1930's.
I realize that having a 1860 Henry was a big improvement over any muzzle loaded rifle and the range using a pistol cartridge was limited.

The shooting sound The reload sound It was blissful
I don't mean to sound rude, but anyone who looks at this, and thinks "An old lever gun, who would want that?" must be out of their damn mind. This is a piece of history! Even a modern repro is still something special because it enables you to experience shooting as one would have 100 years ago. Maybe that's meaningless to some, but to me there's something transcendent about connecting with the past like that. I have an undying love of history, and being able to share an experience with people in the past helps to deepen one's understanding of those people, and their time. Not to mention, many of the old firearms like the Henry, or your Colt Dragoon with the engraving on it are absolutely beautiful. They're works of art in their own way. Thanks again for keeping these guns alive, and sharing them with us!

It has special engravings on both sides of the brass & stock dedicated to Caledonia, Vermont which is in the next county just north of where I live...I fully intend to use it, however I haven't fired a round through it yet! Hi Prakash A K
I had a dear friend who owned two Henry rifles. (I am Canadian). He taught me gun safety, and I had such a delightful time target-shooting with this rifle: it was a commanding, heavy rifle. I had to rest it on a sandbag - the marksman in the video impressed me with his accuracy. I think, and I'm not really a gun-fancier, that the Henry is a thing of real beauty. I forever connect this rifle very fondly with good times with my late friend.
+tim weatherill Do you think if heavy rifle is a Sniper is that what you mean
No, it was just too heavy for me to aim properly. Thus, a sandbag.
Wow, you can see the actual bullet flying all the way to the gong… cool.
Remember that the original Henry rifles were rimfire, which made dropping rounds down the mag tube no big deal as the rims didn't smash into anything. It's only a problem with modern reproductions that shoot centerfire cartridges.
In addition to the devastation they caused in the civil war, there were also many 1860 Henry rifles present at Custer's Last stand in 1876. Unfortunately for Custer, it was the Indians who had them. All Custer and his men had were single-shot Springfield Carbines. Not only was he hopeless outnumbered in that battle, but many of the Indians were better armed as well.
Uberti does a great job. They're so accurate that the parts from their remakes are interchangeable with parts from the originals.
Watching the arch of that round on the Gong is something to behold.
That kind of power in 1860 would make you invincible. Thanks.
This was used in the civil war, right? Known as "that darn rifle that the yanks loaded on Sunday and fired all week"
It’s the reason he said “I loaded it on Sunday, and it’s late in the week, so it’s run out”
Wasn't that in regard to the Springfield carbines that the Union finally got, late, late in the war?
Truly a work of art. I love how much history can be behind a single rifle
his accuracy is at god level. This gun is freaking beautiful!.
I have one. Just love it. Pretty accurate right out of the box.
I hope this grandpa doesn't die because this content is amazing
I wonder how the famous Civil War line battles would have went if everyone had these instead of muskets? Probably like 10 times the casualties and both lines would utterly obliterate each other
Maybe not, if both sides had these rifles, they would have used completely different tactics, instead of lining up and fire as if they are executing each other.
If I am not mistaken it is actually what happened in Civil War. Casualities are far more numereous than traditional musket wars such as Napoleonic Wars due to the high accuracy of rifles used.
Union Cavalry brigades often used the Spencer Rifle, a similar repeater which was capable of firing a shot every 3 seconds. Although just over a hundred thousand were produced for the Union Army, the first Union generals initially rejected its usage on the basis of tradition, and when it was finally adopted, Union commanders ordered that it not be fired to the fullest extent of its rate of fire to conserve ammo. This made it no more useful than normal muskets, unfortunately.
phatcatrat thats really interesting actually
I always wonder this but then I take it a different step. What if you had a time machine, roughly the size of a phone booth and you had to go back to the Civil War or even the revolutionary war. What would you bring? I mean think about it! Even one AR-15 with say 500 rounds! throw in a couple of Glocks in 9mm and it would be stupid easy to win. Weird thought but whatever.
Great video & rifle. Thanks showing it and firing. I am re-enactor of old west in Arizona, I read lot of books of old west, they talk about the Henry rifles except original ones.
