I got a new A35 and I’m enjoying every mile I drive in it. And of course got it with the aero pack and the biggest spoiler, it really fits the car 🚙

EVERYONE that buys this will pay extra for the AMG styling pack cause without it, it looks like the standard A-Class... who the hell would want that. All hail the mighty stick of truth! For £44k I would wait for the A45, which will probably start at £50k and have most of the styling kit included and, lets face it, if you're buying this, the A45 is the one you really want...

I'd go for the spoiler, but either way it's a lovely car. A true Classy Hyper Hatch, I must admit that back in the 90s I never thought such a thing would exist. Hot Hatches were just little shopping cars with way more power, the closest you got to luxury was electric windows and mirrors (and even that was only if you're lucky!) Things have progressed so far, with top ends hitting 160+mph and 60 in just over 4 seconds. My beloved (by me anyway) Astra GTE 16 valve had 150+BHP, 60 in over 7 seconds and 135mph top end, even warm hatches exceed that nowadays!!! I hope they keep on pushing these motors ever faster and safer!!!

is this hot hatch really worth £35,000? ehhh yes, i would happily pay the £44,000 for that car with those specs. seems like a pretty good deal to me considering that it STARTS at £57,000 here in norway, and about £70,000 with those specs
I just took delivery on an a35 three days ago, sad to say Matt is wrong on the a35. Its very enjoyable to drive.
Had the A200d now for 2 weeks as a rental while my lease car was being sorted. I can't fault the Mercedes, my short time with it has won me over, so much so I'm going to probably get one. Its a lovely car, head and shoulders above the competition, drive one and you will undoubtedly agree.

Hi, I have this a35 too. I have one question. When your camera was on the speed display when you were accelerating you could see the visuals from yellow to red telling you when to shift up. I never see that but I do see the ‘blocks’ . Does that only happen when you put it in manual mode?

I have an A35 Premium Plus with full Aero Pack & Designo Magno Matte finish paint. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my car! The Spec I have is closer to 50k but worth every single penny in my opinion. Yes you can get other cars that are bigger for the same price, but if you love a hot hatch that you spec up to your taste, you can’t go wrong with an A35 👌🏽
I've reviewed the A35 last weekend and I agree with Mats verdict. I must say that the problem with the central screen been on the way of our hand must be a problem with right hand cars. And that spoiler is just amazing!
I have a 180 A class and I have the same problem with the wheel getting in the way of the screen, think that’s the same with every A class

So it’s pretty much what the M140i is to the M2. The problem is the M140i doesn’t pretend to be an M2. Deffo a rear spoiler delete and no loud paint to give it a bit more of its own identity. Not sure if it will tempt people away from their Golf Rs as with options the Merc as lovely as it is ...is pricey. Plus some people unfortunately want the fastest car in the range. Not the 2nd

z h The A45 is the fastest in the A class range. That’s what I meant 👍 Some people just don’t like 2nd best. The Golf R is top of the Golf range with regards to performance.
The m2 is unreliable. Bought one and stuck with a car that cannot start
@kishankotecha2002 The M2 is a very reliable car (compared to other sports cars), engine itself is bulletproof (not sure of the new S55 for the M2 comp.) but the old M2 uses the same engine as the 335i did etc, turbos are the only down side to the n54/5 really from personal experience as they are a hassle to replace. Sorry to hear about yours :/

Glad to see 300hp AWD hatchbacks. I've been wanting an STI but it's incredibly ugly interior, terrible seating position, and lack of hatchback has been holding me back. This might be what I need for winter driving! This or the A45. I'll wait on reviews for that thing

I am curious as to how much downforce that spoiler actually creates. If it was adding a substantial benefit I would have it otherwise I don’t care for it too much.

I love the new A Class design, and have myself owned a 2015 A250 Sport. Since the A35 is supposed to sit under the new A45 (if Mercedes don't decide to change the nomenclature again), I think that rear spoiler is a little bit OTT for my personal tastes. Those alloys also are just way too easy to kerb and damage. So will I buy the new A35? No, the A250 is gone now specifically because the suspension was simply too unforgiving for our horrible road surfaces here in Indonesia, and I've sacrificed the fun-factor for comfort instead - don't laugh! Much happier with our E400 ......... thank you!

Im actually building these bad boys in Finland and so far i haven't seen any AMG's with spoiler :D
I configurated in mercedes Greece and... the basic model starts at 58000 euros thats 51000 gbp and after some extras, not the much suited edition 1 amg package that looks amazing, not even color i left on free black night, added some safety and comfort nothing fancy, navi and the 10,25'' screens, 19'' wheels, the prize climped to 70100 euros or 61985 gbp. its for crying out loud. keep up the much enjoyed and informant videos matt and car wow crew eventhough our carmarkets are in different universe. the prize for the amg edition1 package alone is around 10000euros with vat and extra taxes will be added when you have the car configured.

Canada gets the hatch, and has the A250 instead of the A220. Not sure if the A35 hatch is on the list, though US is getting its sedan counterpart.

A35 is for younger people to get into hot hatches. The RS3 is a fortune to insure for younger drivers hence it not being viable.

That applies to everything. People looking at a new a45 or Rs3 can pickup a slightly used c63 or M4, and so on and so forth

This at 35k could be a challenging proposal for golf r buyers if options didn't skyrocket the price out of orbit. Idk, this and golf r has a sleeper look that is just a lot more fun Imho, but instead of paying 45k for this one, I'd definitely splunge another 5-10k and reach for an rs3 or a45, because they come with most of those options included, and they can be quite fun sleeper killers themselves.

Chris It did have some mods to the exhaust system and the driver cheated on the brake test! That being said the Audi sounds much better and is the same as a Golf R (brilliant car) just with four rings on it!
Luke Beaston that exhaust mod (resonator delete) doesn’t improve performance, it just improves the stock sound by making it deeper and throatier.
A S it improves air flow so theres no backwards pressure improving performance in the lower end of revs so it does! The Golf R and S3 are the same car and it thrashed the Golf you tell me its no modded!
My lease is up this year. Can’t decide on this or a Golf R. Or even the Golf TCR. Any suggestions?
Unless you need some fuel sloshing in your trips and daily commute, avoid the new A Class (W177)! It's a prblem that the Mercedes doesn't have a solution for and doesn't seem to be worried to find one too. Some local dealers even called it a characteristic.
