  • Puddin. don't sweat the subject of the content. I'll admit, I started watching the channel for the car content, but I imagine I may speak for many when I say I stay for the entertainment. Somehow you manage to make even the things that may seem mundane entertaining as well as showing that shop life isn't always "Someday Model A will it run, holy crap it runs and drives best day ever ", sometimes you gotta take care of other business. Just keep doing you and we'll be here. My favorite channel on the old KZheads! Thank you sir.

  • I honestly don't understand why some have issues with you doing these videos as opposed to builds. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching your shop build out and set up. I mean if you were an asshole then no I wouldn't enjoy it but when someone genuinely deserves what they have due to hard work, family support and determination it is a blast to see that person succeed. It's been fun watching you and your family grow the business and watch the dreams come true for all of you. I think the vast majority of your subscribers would feel the same and that it will only be a small fraction of the ones that get pissy over it. Keep at it man. I've enjoyed watching the entire ride and look forward to seeing you use the new place to its fullest. Thanks again to you and your family for the laughs and fantastic content. I'd love to see more videos of you and Slick doing things together. The laughter that goes on when you guys are together is contagious and a shit ton of fun to watch. Another video like the Model T vid with your friends would be awesome too. That one was an absolute blast and a lot of laughs for me.

  • Puddin , your wife is awesome. She probably wasn't in the tool shopping mood , but did and found a few items for herself and so understanding. You have a wife ,most guys would envy having. Hot rod along for the ride just made the video so much cooler. She is precious, a special gift from God, not that your other 2 girls are not special. They are older, hot rod could be daddy's one he spoils. It's always the last one that gets most of our attention. In my book, you are the fantastic father for your girls. You got what it takes and more. God gives us gifts in life, he gave you 4 extremely special gifts in your life. May God bless your family every day of your life. When you lived in Louisiana, did you ever visit Lafayette , Louisiana ? I am a 10 minute drive from there.

  • I found over the decades of being a professional mechanic that my very best friend was a tool cart. Early on in my career, I did a lot of R&R on drive train components - transmissions, gearboxes, third members, transfer cases, and so on. Rebuilt some stuff, back before it became cheaper to buy carbs, generators, water pumps, and so on than actually rebuild stuff. The first tool cart I had was from before I was a mechanic, and I don't know how I ended up with it. By the time I retired, It was beat up and battered, but it still rolled around the shop, and was particularly handy for stuff like brake jobs and so on. The second cart I got when I worked at the last dealership (Ford - don't worry, I drove a '71 Chevy Step Side). That was handy because what I did there, besides bemoan the fact that I couldn't find work commiserate with my lofty status as a recent college graduate, entailed me rolling my LOCKABLE Cornwell tool cart all over the repair side of the dealership. That way, whenever I was away from my tool cart, I could lock that sucker up and keep tools from sprouting wings. It had everything I needed from day-to-day, and the tools I didn't use stayed in my roll-away (clearly named by somebody in the government, since, to put it in the back of my pickup, I had to use a rack to lift that suck up in the air), which was in my stall that I hardly ever inhabited. I got rid of both of those, as well as a bunch of tools when I retired, finally getting rid of my two roll-aways, and downsized another Cornwell tool cart. Again, lockable, but without the open bottom below the drawers (5 drawers instead of 3). There are cheaper carts, though perhaps not as durable. For my home repair stuff, I like, and you almost can't beat the Milwaukee stackable tool boxes. Those work great for the kinds of handyman tools one needs from time-to-time.

  • The first year I worked as a mil right I went through my tool box at least three times a year reorganizing it until I got it exactly like I wanted it. I knew if someone borrowed a tool and did not bring it back because it was not in its exact position in my tool box. I also could find any tool I wanted in the dark because I knew my drawer pattern and exactly where a tool was supposed to be. All that being said, at home I could not find a damn thing and kept buying more and one or two days latter I would find the tool old one.

  • I would recommend having a main toolbox which is the black one and a good tool cart that can be used while working on stuff and to get tools back home but my main recommendation is to get a tool box cart or small lower cabinet that can be moved easily for a second set of basic tools. That way you can take it to where you are working when not around the main box. Minimize the to and from the tool box as well as gives someone helping a set of tools to use so you won't be needing want the other guy is using. It is great to differentiate between the sets by brand or engraving so you don't get them mixed up. Just a helpful thing for a big shop or a shop with multiple mechanics.

  • I used to have 2 shops 28 miles apart. 13 years after moving out of the downtown shop, my friend and I started our 1 day organizing the tools...It took much longer. Tech tip. Buy socket bars and racks, a pliers organizer or 6. Attain a number of clear plastic totes. Dump all you have of each tool(sockets, wrenches, hammers, extensions, pry bars, impact bits etc.) Create your master and minor sets first, then one for traveling, HotRod, wife, Slick, annoying neighbor who never returns tools and your car trailer. out of each group of tools. Then, put the rest in totes for welding art/special tools/weighing down tailgaters in the ocean... When you're done, donate the extra truckload to your flea market friend or church. See ya in a week or two. Best thing that has happened to the shop, ever.

  • When my dad died in 2008 I inherited his tools, many complete sets of mechanics tools, two roller cabinets and 4 tool boxes. I have my own complete set of tools, and to this day I have not been able to integrate our/my tools. He was famous for having his tool box set up just the way he liked. When I was a kid, 5 maybe, he woud be on his back under the Pontiac and ask me for a 9/16 wrench, and when I opened the drawer of the tool box, he would say "not that one" -- he could tell from under the car that I had opened the wrong drawer. I would be coming with a wrench and from 10-feet away he would say "not that one" -- I finally got the nerve to ask him how could he tell it was wrong from that far away, he said "I can tell that's the wrong wrench from 100 feet away, you are in the wrong toolbox!" I use his/my tools every day, some times I just turn them over in my hands wondering how many fasteners he must have turned all those years, but his tools belong in his boxes, and mine stay in mine. Proto, Challenger, Snap-On, Mastercraft, Craftsman, many other brands, he was practical, never loyal -- it is all precious metal.

  • Am I looking forward to you getting back at it and building cars once again, yes I am. Am I about done with the shop build not really, it’s kinda nice watching you organize the shop as it gives me some ideas on what I’d like to do with mine eventually. I’ve got some woodworking tools along with some metal fab tools, a little bit of everything you might say. I like the idea of having a box here and a box there so you’re not traipsing back and forth across the shop for a tool. Had a chuckle at the bit on the tape measures, when my FIL passed away I was cleaning up his shop and I said to my wife (second relationship) that I could give everyone in the family a 16ft tape measure and have enough left over, that was myself, her, the 4 kids, his dad his new wife her 2 girls, her brother his wife and his two daughter, the MIL my parents if you’re counting that’s 17 tape measures, with about 3-4 to spare. He was a cabinet maker by trade, think he’d forget where he set the tape measure down and would just buy another cause it was easier. But I found 20 of the 16ft ones as well as 5 12ft ones.

  • I have a pair of those safety wire pliers, I use it many times in the Airforce as a Jet engine mechanic. Sure comes in handy just like a speed wrench

  • super organizing my roll a ways, and tools was the best thing I did for efficiency. I even went as far as doing a cabinet just for my hammers, dollies, sanding blocks etc. I have several grinders set up so I dont need to swap from cutting to grinding, etc. All my sockets are on racks to so I can see whats missing right away. Utensil holders make perfect holders for ratchets, extensions, screwdrivers, sharpies and anything else that can roll around. I also bought a plier "rack" so I could organize those. I hung all of my files on peg board after installing golf balls on the ends. Most comfortable handle I ever used. When I started, I cleaned everything and it was super overwhelming, but as I got things organized, it became therapeutic. Id throw on some music and just start cleaning/ organizing. Now everything once again has a home, I keep a notebook in one box so I can write down anything I need/want while Im working.

  • This has got to be the greatest time of your life brother. Other than becoming a Daddy and getting married. I wish you the best time of your life in finally having your dream shop, you deserve the opportunity of having enough room to have multiple cars in the shop and enough room to have future toys to build..

  • as has been noted on both channels - the details take the most time - tools sorting is details - but worth the time and effort.
