  • Best advice I ever got when a single mother: Even very young children are able to help out around the house. Not only did they keep their own room clean, but they helped with the dishes and sometimes made their own lunches. This video was a nice reminder of those years. My kids are now in their 30s; one of them has kids of his own now.

    @lzeph@lzeph8 жыл бұрын
    • In many cultures women are supposedly and traditionally the ones taking care of the home, so I know many women who spare their kids (especially daughters) of homework (even if they teach them the necessary basic) so they can be kids when they can. Just giving a heads up. :)

      @angethedumbone@angethedumbone8 жыл бұрын
    • Housework, maligned as women's work, is a natural part of living in any home, and (imo) the responsibility for its upkeep shouldn't fall to one person unless there's only one person in the home. It'd be great if children could be shown that chores are simply one aspect of daily life, just as play is another. If they're not taught to view chores as menial drudgery, they won't feel denied of play time, and they'll learn excellent habits for when they have homes of their own.

      @lzeph@lzeph8 жыл бұрын
    • +lzeph yes of course but I'm saying cultures are different. I grew up doing everything myself and it's good for me, while other women my age have been raised without and still manage. :)

      @angethedumbone@angethedumbone8 жыл бұрын
    • Most people my age (20s) who didn't help around the house, don't manage very well today, in terms of keeping a home. I also felt bad for their mothers as a child, because they lacked appreciation for everything their mothers did, because they never tried it themselves, and thus never got how much it takes. They mostly complained about not getting stuff..

Life can be a harsh lesson🥺

  • I had an extremely abusive monster of a mother. Decided to be the opposite for my daughter. She is beautiful, wonderful, hardworking and kind. I am a ghost from all of those years of protecting us, working too hard, alone.... but, I am not my mother, and my daughter is not either. I do not have much life left, and my dreams are gone, but my daughter is lovely. Thank you for sharing this short film.

  • ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ this!! Was raised by my grandmother. Wasn't until I got my first apartment & lived on my own that I truly understood what it meant that some parents "sacrifice" so that their children could "have." We were poor, but we were never without food, water, lights,phone or our home. I wrote my grandmother a letter thanking her for all that she had done for me, my cousin & my aunts growing up.😊

  • My mom had an abusive mother. She told herself that when she had children, she wouldn't continue the cycle. Only instead of physical abuse, she mentally and emotionally abused me and my brother. She prides herself everyday that she never once left a bruise on us (but ya know, but leaving your 14 yr old daughter off the side of the highway at midnight because of a small argument is okay) (Which she did and refuses to admit she ever did such a thing to her youngest) So I wish I could feel something watching this since its so beautiful! But I just cant.. I never had an actual loving mom to relate experiences with..

I hope you wrote a typo. Nani and to everyone else who had parents that were abusive in some way I am so sorry. You are beautiful inside and out no matter what. • This shows how important it is to teach children how to help their parents (mother) around the house, and how important mothers are in the first place. We're just like machinery, if you don't do maintenance all the time, small faults will become big and eventually crash down the entire system and that's a lot harder to fix. So remember to take regular breaks.

She would always have her parents take care of us whilst she spent all the money we had. That was only the beginning and it went worse as my father found out she was cheating on him. But I have seen beautiful mothers out there that really do try to help and I love seeing it

Please, appreciate your mothers while you still can. Help them around the house, too. Like, I see so many kids disrespecting their parents, swearing at them, etc and it's insane. Many of them sacrifice so much just to see us grow up well. This video reinforces what they do for us and it is beautiful.

    • Black Soul Sketcher Having depression doesn't mean you always harm yourself. It's different for everyone honestly, because sometimes those people who do have depression withdraw from others; such as isolating themselves. Some on the other hand harm themselves and attempt suicide. Those people chose to hurt themselves because they're convinced it'll help lessen the pain. Which is entirely not true, because how does it make the situation better? They'll be put on suicide watch, and it'll go on their records. Forever. Don't be one of those people that society thinks are crazy, because when you go out there and find a job, and your boss is going to hire you, he/she will see your health records. And you know what will be next? They'll assume everything, such as you're crazy, emo, a negative person to work with, etc. Another thing.. prove your father wrong. Don't give in to depression. Show him that you're not a disgrace to the family. Talk to your mother more when you feel triggered, parents are there for a reason. They're a guidance, so please, don't bottle everything up and never tell them. Not all parents know what they do to their children, some even decline what they do to them.

  • This kind of beautiful, heartfelt project that these obviously YOUNG people put out, is just beautiful. Just when an old fart like myself thinks that this generation is spoiled......THIS comes up and recharges my spirit tenfold. Thank you, you kids, for making this older mom feel happiness again. Much love.

  • My mom and dad always abuses me emotionally/mentally since I was little. And it became worse as a young adult & especially after I have awoken to my true self(the most powerful dark witch in my star system). And of course after I have remembered myself, they're in the trash because they no longer resonate with my true self.

  • I guess I'm heartless because that's the events unfold I'm just like. The fire in the kitchen is more important, th e caller can call back later if it's important, the laundry can dry again once it stops raining, and while the baby is crying at least the baby is alive and not in a burning building.

    @jessicagross3008@jessicagross30088 жыл бұрын
    • But it would be stressful, putting out a fire with a screaming toddler, and then there is the important phone call (she is a single mother, it might be very important for their life, maybe about a job or financial aid), and you don't leave laundry in the rain, because it will stink once it dries.. hehe

  • I remember when my sister first showed me this. She was an art student at the same school that the animators who made this were from. They had to make a 3rd-year film as their final project. I never truly realised how difficult being a mother was until I saw this and I remember giving my mom a huge hug and many thanks after that. I wish that I could explain the true beauty and power that this short holds. It truly opened my eyes.

  • To those who have amazing parents and a great mother: I envy you, dude. I'm an orphan and I don't know how the fuck it feels to have a mom, but damn dude. If your mom is a great woman, then appreciate her existence, I can't tell you how many times I've seen people brush off their moms as annoying and loud infront of me. I know they must seem like a pestering person sometimes, but atleast be glad you know her and know she's alive.
