Sony beating Disney they didn't kill the mom they ALMOST killed her
Funny you say that with a pp of a character coming from _Death Note_ 😂😂😂. Again, something related about death
dbzcupcake ooo
Disney does that shit, they kill the mom in every goddamn movie, Bambi, the little mermaid, lilo and stitch, pocahontas, pretty much every movie. Lilo and stitch they killed both parents. It makes it really unrelatable for kid like me with a abuser dad and mom. I wish they'd make a Disney movie with loving parents but also a movie with mean parents so kids like me can relate. I hate when they kill mom's and dad's are heroes. That needs to change.
@@magnarvasiliev5292 so true. When I was a kid I always noticed how there were no mothers in looney tune and hanna-barbera cartoons as well.

@Angie Playz I'm also Mexican-American and have really thick hair that tangles easily. But black people have hair with a very different texture, so I can't imagine how hard it must be for them to do their hair. I have it easy compared to them when it comes to hair.

It’s a book?
It is so cool to finally see the mother be darker than the father. The mother is usually always lighter so this is so beautiful. I love this short so much.
Yeah it's both colorism and sexism when the woman is always lighter than the man. It's done because lighter skin is seen as more beautiful than dark skin and because people believe that in a relationship the woman should be the better looking one. But in reality dark skin is very beautifu. And in addition to that the woman doesn't always have to be "the better looking one" (not to say that the mom here doesn't look beautiful, she's absolutely stunning).
Have you guys read the Little Blue Boy?

so glad you rung the bell sis! Blessings in abundance to you and yours ❤❤
I think no matter a person's skin tone or cultural background, ALL FATHERS are terrified to do their daughter's hair. This video has layers of sweetness and emotion, but to see the dad trying (and struggling!) but getting there in the end is brilliant. And the fact that he is continuing to do her hair during the credits and wasnt just a 'stand-in' while his wife was sick is a gorgeous detail. This film totally deserved it's Oscar 💖
bro ong. my dad refused to do my hair when i was younger when my ma couldnt do it so he gave me a hat- 💀💀
Lie, I have 10 sisters and now 2 Daughters...... Never been scared because I know what to do and if not, where to look. AND I know who we are. So that's a full lie. That's also pretty immature to assume you have met ALL fathers..... pretty ignorant actually.
@@architectonthejob i thought you were replying to me for a sec, cuz i was only mentioning my dad-
I think a more realistic assessment would be that many fathers don't care enough to try (they don't have long hair, why should they learn how to manage it? at least I assume that's the general underlying rationale), and of those who do care, many are anxious about it, sometimes to the point of giving up before they begin, sometimes to the point of giving up after making a few mistakes or finding it harder than expected. But that's like doodling for the first time and throwing away the crayon going "I can't draw!" Assuming a fairly normal capacity for motor control, any person can learn how to achieve basic hairstyles. Those who care enough about the one they're working on will learn how to do it without hurting them (much). It's easier for some hair types than for others, and some of them need products to be manageable, but if the hair is long enough to style in *some* way then it's possible to come up with *something* that looks neat. I know a woman who claimed her daughter's hair was unmanageable because it was mixed. The woman herself is mixed (the father is white), so of course the daughter has some of that in her, and she does get frizzy sometimes, but I never had a problem brushing out her hair and getting it to a gorgeous state. It didn't even take products, it just took *time* and *patience* to carefully work through the hair. Her mom (who btw claimed to have been trained as a hairdresser) would rush through it and had done that so often that the girl had a sensitive scalp, and it took a while for her to get comfortable with me handling her hair -- for her to realize that not all hair care has to hurt. And then I let her style my hair, too, and coached her in how to avoid hurting (when she was little she'd run the comb right over my ear).
@Chrissiem The fact that you are trying to lessen the significance and the whole point of this short and book let's me know you are one of those white women who if it's not about you or if you can't relate than it doesn't matter. It's more than a father having to do his daughter hair, it's about the daughter missing out on the bonding time love patience etc she and her mother experienced together. Dad had to find his own way around to doing it his special way. I really wish people like you wouldn't comment because you can't relate. It's wasn't about your feelings and thoughts.

Dad learns how important hair is to people and how to have patience to style his daughter’s properly, Mom gains the confidence to rock the bald look like the warrior queen she is, and let’s not forget how absolutely precious the little girl is throughout the entire thing.
I think he already knew the importance of hair: he certainly did his own and he married a hair stylist who makes KZhead videos to help other women style their hair. The problem he was having was it was likely he learned how to do his hair from his own mother rather than his father. Hair styling to him was something children bond over with their mothers, not their fathers. And men don't use the same amount of hair care products as women do (we've seen the his/her comparison pictures on the Internet). So it was no wonder he was overwhelmed when he looked at his daughter's desk full of hair-care products and nope-d. In the end, he simply didn't know what to do or how to do it. He knew it was important to Zuri, but lack of confidence held him back. That's why he needed to hear his wife's words and realize he's not the only one who feels that way and that's why his wife made her channel in the first place. Not just for the women, but the men as well. Especially since they already traveled down a rough road and made it out alright (his wife's cancer) and that's how they can support her in her recovery.
5:34 I am moved by this scene 🥲 From the daughter's face and intentions, it is clear what she wanted to tell her mother from the ❤: "I love you mom, no matter what you look like now, whether you have hair or not, you will always remain the most beautiful to me.🥰" I LOVE THIS SCENE ❤️

Everything about this touched my heart! Firstly the little girl looks sooo much like my own daughter, is around the same age too. We watched it together. The way the dad is struggling doing laundry and then has to tackle a hair routine he isn't used to, also relatable for me as I had to learn afro hair in order to do my daughter's and that's been an amazing thing for us both but I definitely felt like I was in that ring with her hair at times! Especially when I'm exhausted or in pain. I suffer from chronic illnesses and many health issues so even the mother and daughter part made me want to cry! Sometimes I am hospitalised and away from my family for tough periods of time or can't be what they need me to be. I just loved all of it. The representation of so many things into a small film made it highly emotional ❤

I want another feel-good cheerful film like Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. All their other films is junk as flint would say.
ok but can we talk about how pretty that mom is
Little Erykah Badu vibe.
lol it's a cartoon
Even and balt she is really pretty.
Finally no more dying it's feels so good when no parent or loved one's die😭
This is the cutest short film ever I’m crying!
*_Me before the video:_*_ Oh, this'll be inspirational to little black girls._ *_Me at the end, sobbing:_*_ I'm a grown black girl and I can't right now_
I thought I was the only one crying after watching this.
Girl I was balling too
I am not even black. But I was a mess. This is so friggin wholesome, man 😭😭
I'm blaming it on my allergies 😃. And it took less then 7 mins. to get all emotional.
I never had kids but I’m an uncle and I would attempt to style my niece’s hair when she was a little peanut and we would fight like MMA fighter from start to finish but we made it work and the sad part is I’m a licensed cosmetologist...she’s a grown woman now and I treasure those times in my heart ❤️... so needless to say I’m bawling right now
I thought the mom died at first but then I remembered: this isn’t disney🤣
Ikr!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
#sotrue
Lmao
Very touching, congratulations on your nomination.
This reminds me the times my dad tried to do my hair when mom was not home. He messed up but I never refused because he done it with lots of love. I even went to my school with that hair.... I will forever love you dad and I really miss you a lot. I'm just lost without you....
You know hair love is a great animated short I am glad that you people at Sony pictures animation are creating the full series young love which is based on the hair love short
When your cat give you the judging gaze, you know you did wrong
When your cat gives you a hug, you know it's a Sony animation
And if they use the Feel Happy Noise, you know they love you.
My cats look at me with judging gazes literally every single day
Marie Josephine How are you doing so many things wrong? You only need to worship them like the Egyptians every hour. It’s not that hard
@@carelessdreamer I do! They still judge me!
I’m not crying I’m not crying * wipe eyes * yea I’m crying
My eyes are sweating
i'm not crying i just scratched it with a tree branch bUt i'M fInE
Somebody started cutting onions when I started watching this. Just rude... 😭😭
3 year later it’ll be on hbo max can’t wait
Somehow for me it is not just about the hair, the family. Thank you
Sony: doesn’t kill the mom Disney: *Wait that’s illegal*
Or the dad! Let's just say Sony: neither parent dies or is dead
But then, where is the mom? Besides in the video..
Fact: Disney characters often have missing parents because of what happened to Walts parents. Look it up.
Boi, where she go??
LexiTheHybridFox you see her at 5:15! I was wondering that too.
Everyone in the comments: I’m not gonna cry Me: This isn’t even sad... Also Me: Who cut the onions?? 😭
Sorry I needed onions for my stir-fry. I'll stop cutting them now ;-;
I’m just wondering does the mom need a wheelchair? What happened??
It was the ninjas. The same one's come to my house and julliene onions during the opening credits of Up.
@@mitogenhahah cancer
@@mitogenhahah she has cancer I think, you can feel dizzy or weak after treatment, depending on how long it takes and the type of cancer you have.
I love to see Black families portrayed as healthy and loving 💚
"Hair Love," is such a beautiful Oscar-winning short from Sony Pictures Animation, that warmly invites us into the world of an African-American father navigating the heartfelt task of styling his daughter Zuri's hair for a special event. The cinematography in "Hair Love" feels like a carefully choreographed dance, bringing out the emotions in each scene. Those close-ups and medium shots during the father-daughter moments? They capture the raw and relatable expressions, like the father's nervous grin or Zuri's innocent curiosity. And the lighting? It's not just about brightness; it evolves with the characters, subtly guiding us through the emotional journey. The soundscape of "Hair Love" is as authentic as a heart-to-heart conversation. The dialogue feels real, not scripted, allowing us to genuinely connect with the characters. The music, crafted by Matthew Cherry, complements the emotional beats with a mix of playfulness and tenderness that tugs at the heartstrings. And those sound effects, like the rustling of hair or the gentle hum of a hairbrush? They make the experience feel real, immersing us in the father's heartfelt journey. And no voice-over? It adds a layer of intimacy, letting emotions speak louder than words. The storytelling in "Hair Love" is as authentic as the characters themselves. The film takes us through the father's attempts to style Zuri's hair, turning what could be a simple task into a relatable and humorous adventure. The pacing feels like a heartbeat, allowing moments of tension, joy, and revelation to unfold organically. As we follow the father's journey, the narrative builds tension, leading to a heartwarming climax when Zuri reveals her hairstyle. And the animation? It adds that touch of magic to make key moments unforgettable. In the short yet impactful journey of "Hair Love," the filmmakers have woven moments of genuine moments, breaking stereotypes and delivering a message of love and diversity.
