I am fighting cancer in my spine. It is very painful. there are times I just get depressed. When I watch your videos you pick me up. You helped me update my headset. You made it easy. When I looked on amazon I had no idea what to purchase. This was a big help. Your energy picks me up. Thank you.
God bless you Samuel. I hope his videos have made ur day
God bless you, bro. Trust in the lord, you got this. 🙏🏾
Amen to that, Jesus heals 🙏@@shadowbladebruh1
You are in my prayers, my friend. Ipray for health and happiness to you and your family. ❤
Just wanting to make sure you’re aware of all options of healing, carnivore diet. It’s an elimination diet where you only eat animal products. Usually ruminant animal skeletal muscle.. organ meat, eggs, and salt and water. Lots of fat! That’s all you eat. Research if interested and Goodluck!
This is a great best of 2023 video. Love this channel. The only thing is I ended up collecting headsets from watching this regularly. 😂
gotta admit... i got my first set of Wicked cushions for the Hyper alpha in 2018... i still have that set somewhere and they have minor wear after a solid 12+hr daily of use for a yr, and that was before covid, so the cloud 2 set got abused and still good. lol also now i have the nova pro with the retro WC and have zero issues. every headset deserves some customization, and earpads are perfect for $20-30.
Good vid man, Surprised the Arctis Nova Pro wired didn't make it to the list
Curious why the Corsair HS80 Max didn’t make this list, as you seemed pretty happy with them when you reviewed.
Still rocking the arctis 7x in 2023. I bought it brand new for about $85 on blck friday last year, and I love how I can use them ln every single device that i have, which cannot be said with non steelseries competitors.
RIG 900 HX Pro MAX is compatible with all consoles, pc and can Bluetooth to mobile devices. Costs about $100 less than steelseries.
This was a hell of a good wrap up, thank you. Also, if you play with your friends a lot and use a lot of voice chat do them a favor and do not buy the Steel series. Steel series headsets made Valheim with friends so annoying, the mic is just trash even if the rest of the headset is good. If you are playing with strangers or don't use the mic often go ahead but please don't put your friends through the bs of fiddling with your volume, telling you to move the mic, adjust your gain etc every single night, it's just not good.
The Razer mic actually sounds really good. If only they had simultaneous bluetooth on that
This guy appears quite different with a mustache; I had to pause and make sure I was actually seeing the right person. It caught me off guard, but then I remembered he usually wears a hat.
its another me from the other me now in the new me
That’s his doppelgänger. 😮
@@TheTechne I know it not out yet and you don’t typically care as much for Astro brand headsets but I really want to hear what your thoughts or predictions would be for the new coming Astro a50x. With Logitech buying over the brand and putting their new 40mm graphene drivers in them do you think they may compete as a top brand again? Or do you think they may even surpass some of these in this line up at a competitive or fps stand point? I have been an Astro fan for some time now even knowing there is much better options out now; I would really like to see a revival of the company as a whole.
i use the steel series pro nova X. I love being able to seemlessly transition to my xbox, pc, ps5, switch, nvidia shield and regular tv without getting off my seat to re-plug in a dongle. It's just a shame their mics isn't up to par with the rest and they have those stupid mics in the earcups, but I use wicked cushions aswell to completly avoid feeling them.
I remember when the Stealth Pros came out, I saw quite a bit of discourse on battery life. If they only had one battery, I get it. But there's two! 12 hours is plenty when you can just swap it out! Loved the video Techne!
so i wanna say thx for the reviews on the head sets. i had a hyper x cloud 2 wireless well what kinda sucks is after two years they kinda have problems but the steel series are perfect thx for the review i love these videos keep up the awesome work man
The Audeze Maxwells would be no brainers for me if they had simultaneous Bluetooth. Is there any major reason the nova 7s are your main headphones? I might just go with those after already being happy enough with my arctis 7x. Great video btw!
Hey any help appreciated, what would be your choice(s) for fps specifically call of duty Main feature I'm bothered about is connectivity to PS4 and ps5 But I'm looking for the best amplifier for footsteps I have been looking at turtle beach stealth pro and arctics nova pro but can decide between the two I don't mind wired or wireless, just not sure if there is another headset out there I should be looking at Thanks, James
Excellent review! So I just want to share some insight from my local HiFi headphone dealer on the Maxwells. My rep, who loves Audeze, said they are not even bringing any Maxwells in because of serious reliability issues with all of Audeze's previous wireless sets. He said they did not sell a single one that did not come back with issues and that there is a night and day difference in build quality and materials from their wired sets. He wanted to stress he had no hands-on experience with the Maxwells, obviously, and he had heard some more positive things about them. I have no doubt they sound better than any other gaming headset, hands down, with those massive planar drivers. However, I don't know if I could spend that much to get a heavy and possibly unreliable headset.
Is it still worth going for the Maxwell now? Or maybe soon there will be a new model that might solve some of it issues?
Techne! I just ordered the all white nova 7x last night! Only to open my phone to the new Logitech A50 X light speed headset! Can we get a video covering this new A50 X ASAP?
I bought the acrtis 9 after using the ps3 wireless headphones from 2011 (the very first headphones playstation made) and i gotta say that the 9's kinda pinch my head and the sound quality is 99% similar with the bass being slightly better but not much to stand out from the ps3 headphones. I was going for immersion for my purchase and the acrtis 9 was definitely for competitive gaming. My pc38x has the competitive aspect covered. I just needed a wireless headset for laying back and just simply enjoying the game. Returned the arctis 9 and went with the inzone 7. Same as the arctis 9 but i did like the simultaneous 2.4 and Bluetooth support but unfortunately i had to return it for a refund as an exchange was not possible as sony doesn't sell them anymore. Fortunately i was able to do that 3 days before the 1 year warranty expired. It was due to a build up of static shock in my room and when i went to grab the headset it wont turn on. Bought a cheap humidifier and already bought the Maxwell's...whenever they go back into stock in the next month.
Ty. Like the new 5-star rating across various things.
What about the Corsair Virtuoso XT? How does that compare to some of the Headsets mentioned in this video? (For PC Gaming)
On the corsair, I think the word you're looking for in regards to open back headphones is they open up the sound stage.
That weight is wild lol. I have the g pro x wirless and even those are too heavy. When I wear my Bose qc comforts for non gaming it’s just night and day difference.
No 3.5mm jack on the 2023 Blacksharks is a dealbreaker for me. I have the previous version but they are starting to wear and I will go with the Maxwells next
Got the maxwell & model one for ps5.blown away with each of them.fantastic.
Sweet combo there
How would you compare them?
Haven’t watched in a hot minute and woah! I didn’t even recognize you when the vids started popping in my recommended again, full on sleeves and the Walter white?!?! 🔥
as someone who tried and returned the Acezone Aspire, and now using TBSP and Audeze Maxwell. i also can say Turtle Beach has come a long way, and they are my best pick so far. Got new A50x coming in 2 days, but i assume like the maxwell i will be returning them.
why are you returning the maxwells?
@dazide767 the Bluetooth is not consistent at all. And it's not simultaneous. The soundstaging is very poor for FPS footsteps etc
Hey man, watching your videos for a looong time! Big fan of yours. Do you know which IEM JoeWo is using ? I asked him on Twitch but is not answering because they makers of the IEM are not paying him. Maybe you can see on his videos which one he uses? Would be greatly appreciated man.
Another Great! video. Merry Christmas and Happy New year...Cheers
thanks a bunch
This channel is a blessing
Hey I just got my gaming pc rig setup and I am looking for a wireless headset. Im stuck between the Razer Blackshark V2 2023, Arctis Nova 7X Wireless, vs HyperX - Cloud Alpha Wireless? I've been researching for too long. I play games like call of duty and so I definitely want some bass but I also play story focused games and would like some clean audio that is immersive. Which one should I pick? Thanks!
I hope Sony does a refresh of their Inzone H series headphones with a better mic that came out last year. I still wear the H7 when I play single player games on PS5, because the sound quality and comfort is phenomenal. The mic is downright awful though.
I've had both the audeze Penrose and Maxwell. The Maxwell is the better overall headphones but the Penrose was crazy loud and had a wider sound stage IMO
Had both too. The Penrose were also waay too loud in the treble, so a lot of s‘ and t’s were kinda painful to listen to
@@piniensieb7215 this is true they aren't as well tuned as the maxwells
Howdo man i like ur videos very informative but I gotta say i really feel the vibe off ur old cassette tape tatt, The good old days (Right!!)
Still using my Arctis Pro Wireless for my PS5. Feel no reason to upgrade just yet but I’d probably go with the Maxwells in the future.
Will you review the explore earbuds
Unfortunately I had a total of 3 copies of G Pro X 2 with the same weakness, weak hinge.I need a pretty big adjustability because my head is on the bigger size, not even 30 minutes into my gaming sessions I had to readjust the left hinge because it would constantly fall down, otherwise I have to give logitech big props for the sound quality, they nailed it, too bad I can't use them at all.I will probably give the blacksharks a try.
Great review and list..I am not infinitely wealthy and landed on the Logitech Pro X2. They are my most comfortable headphones to date. Are they the best, no. Do they work for me, hell yes
If you had to get just one set which would it be my steelseries nova pro wired had to go back now ive got to pick a new set i thought about the wireless version but the turtle beach has caught my eye 😂
coming from g pro wireless first ones, what to get for upgrade? mic is a must as well wireless
Literally everything except the steelseries are 300$ or more here (and even on amazon). I managed to find razer barracuda X 2022 at a good deal and they pretty good :3
The maxwell sounds good to me just because of the noise canceling mic I play in the living with a pretty lively family and it’s nice to be able to cut out there voices and noises
How's your Maxwell going? Due to it's price, I took care of it very well but yesterday the left ear cup suddenly stop working for no reason. I checked on reddit and Amazon reviews and it seems that's a Maxwell common issue. Luckily, mine took almost a year before it got broke. Sounds great but works less than a year. I Bought it because I watched your review on Maxwell and now I get back to your channel to check out what's the current best headset. 😁
Man I have a question what’s the best headset that’s super light under 280 grams (half a pound) that’s esports (the best audio) ready and has the comfort of the steal series nova1 , what is better the nova 3 or nove 4 or nova 7
how's the soundstage on the 7x ? would like to find a headset that is good for gaming and music also
I like the blackshark but I HAD Noise Cancellation. Sennheiser pc38x is the perfect solution. From Mic Quality to just open ear comfort. Give it a try people.
Hey Techne, I’m curious as to which of these headsets are the loudest for PS5 use? I find most compatible headsets at full volume settings(console and headset) are just barely loud enough. Curious about the Pulse Explore Planar Buds coming out.
I know I hate that you should try razer kraken headset usb it got 7.1 I stick the usb and my ps5 it very louder plus it you plan to use it and the controller piece it still come out loud
Just purchased the VZR during their special black friday renewed sale. Still waiting on them coming in, they actually havent even shipped yet, which is kind of werid, but can't wait to hear the difference between them and what I'm currently rocking, which is the Arctis 7.
Update: I actually sent VZR an email asking if my order got delayed and they emailed me back almost right away letting me know they were working on fulfilling all black friday orders this week and will be shipping out my headphones shortly, so can't wait for them to arrive. Also what great customer service to respond to my email so promptly.
That's just another company channel stuffing their inventory to bring up their revenue for their investors. Alot of company's do that during black friday. I had same issue with hyoerx and just cancelled my order and got a refund 5 days later.
@@TheCloudCreationHow do you like them? I’m thinking of upgrading from my Epos H6 Pros
How do they compare to your steelseries?
I’ve heard that Maxwell is great for sound but there’s some huge connectivity issues and you can’t edit presets while connected to a system (console user here)
the maxwell and stealth pro sound great but ive come to really appreciate lighter weight headsets for those marathon sessions
Same, that’s why I main the 7x
Is the Sennheiser GSP 600 a good deal in 2023? They are currently selling it at a relatively low price. The Sennheiser GSP 600 being sold brand new for 78 USD or 1,200,000 IDR in Indonesia.
New background looks professional
Would you say all of these are better than the wires astros a40 tr mix amp?
I have a ps5 and use the Corsair HS80 right now. Been very happy with it. But ready to upgrade. What’s the best PS5 headset
Can you use the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X with a USB-C to USB-A adapter?
Trying to find a replacement for my wired steelSeries Arctic Pro + gamedac since the rightside joint is starting to brake off, But its soo hard to see what headset is better.. I don't care about the mic since I have a dedicated microphone, So I'm mainly am focus on the Audio, I love the Steelseries audio cause its high and mid which goes well between Music and Games with stock Sounds adjustment~ I thought of getting the Maxwell headsets and or the Wired SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro headset but my main problem is the built quality and price tag on the arctic nova while for the Maxwell it only comes as Wireless. I don't like wireless headsets soo much cause on PC you can't freely adjust applications sounds through Volume Mixer (and cause wired headsets are superior on sound quality) But I always like to put sound quality above everything Ahhh its sooo hard to choose ;-;
Are the Nova 7x’s sound similar to the LS50X from Lucid Sound?
That Razer mic sounds just incredible.
What's the difference between between Arctis Nova 7 and 7x? Also what can you recommend wireless headset for discord party calls and playing Dota??
The dongle for the arctis Nova 7x wireless doesn't fit into my phone because of the case, so I bought a usbc extender to connect the dongle to my phone. Hope it works
Does something like the Virtuoso Pro need a DAC or an AMP? Or is the plug’n’play method going to work just as well? I’m new to this side of things. Thanks for the video! Enjoyed it a lot 🗣️
I don’t stream when I play by the way. That’s why I’m not sure if I really need a DAC or AMP
No, just plug and play and you’re good.
Great video as usual mate.. appreciate the content. Quick question, I've got the maxwell, and on the app on my phone, the volume slider is dimmed, won't let me interact with it like yours.. I use it for my xbox series x.. via the dongle.. do you know of any way I can fix that? Thanks in advance
Take out the dongle, let them pair to the phone first, then plug in the dongle. Weird why they do this, but it does for me also.
@TheTechne it worked that, at first, but when I eventually put dong back in app said "headset not connected" pressed retry, then went back to dimmed out.. it let me interact with it until the dongle went in.. frustrating! Lol.
Which is better for competitive fps, nova 7 or Razer BS V2 2023 ?
Hey! I watched a few of your other vids on the maxwells. One video you say you can hear someone across the street and up stairs…then in this video you say that in call of duty it’s just ok…so is this a good headset for footsteps in call of duty or not? Thanks for any info love the vids man
I believe in my original vid its was more war zone focused, here I'm playing more standard MP. And base cod MP is a mess of sounds. But I do really enjoy the maxwells, besides them being so dang heavy
@@TheTechne so I shouldn’t have a problem hearing footsteps better than right now? I have the Astro a40s with Mixamp tr pro
Is it possible to tweak the bass for any headset on a PS5? Currently, I don't think so. Unless Techne or anyone else knows.
SteelSeries Arctis Prime,HyperX Cloud III and Razer BlackShark V2. Which is better for fps gaming and good quality mic performance?
Does the Blackshark V2 still have connectivity issues with Xbox? I’m an Xbox player and have been for my whole life and the Blackshark V2 really interests me but there has been a lot of connectivity issues when trying to Bluetooth connect the headset with your Xbox. Also this was an amazing and detailed video!!
Black shark v2 won’t work on Xbox, ps and pc only
What do you recommend for single player only? I don’t play multiplayer
Logitec PRO X the plastic ends of the headbads broke apart at the screws after a year of use. Never strained them I was extra careful putting them on and off the plastic ends still gave away. I would stay away from them.
I got the Maxwell and i am not sure if i want to keep it. Simply by the fact, that I have voicemeter and have to reassign the headset every time I switch it on, because it doesn't recognized the "old" one. Sound is fine, could be a louder, i like my wired DT 1770 here more. The microphone also sounds a tiny bit better than in the videos here. The mic itself is also way better, you can hear that with the sidetone. The sidetone sounds more like the BlackShark. The problem here is the wireless connection and a bit the noice cancelation, but thats secondary. The sidetone could also be louder, but maybe also not because it has a noticeable background hiss.
You can turn off the volume limiter in the software and at even 20% it's way too loud for me so I keep it on.
@@mattjohnson3954 I have.
I bought the Logitech G Pro X2 and they are super UNcomfortable for me. Can't find a size that fits well, even with Wicked Cushions applied. Unfortunately the Audeze Maxwell is too heavy for me and all others are worse in sound, battery life or build quality. So I just wait for a wireless version of the VZR Model One.
Wife runs the Blackshark v2 wired, love the new ink
So you would recommend the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7X instead of the Nova Pros? I was torn between the two and I sure wouldn't mind saving ~$150 lol
yes, save some $
Is the artic Nova p the same as the Novax?
out of the ones I tried, I might say the black shark beats all of them. Just a good all rounder
Thanks i was undecided till now I'm a just get the AUDEZE maxwell ❤..bless 🇲🇸
You won't regret it, I've had my maxwell 3 days, I've owned many high end headsets, and these wipe the floor with them, just incredible. And they are really not that heavy, you'll see.. update after.
im allready second time send back, stop working left side speaker...be really careful ,the speaker is very easily can be damaged by pressing ,and warranty didt cover.i love sound , but so much for me and probably wait for new astro a50x
Vzr model one good for cod? Footsteps?
The the competition in the market is insane right now! Such a hard choice haha.
Really interested in purchasing the Logitech headset, but not really satisfied with the microphone performance during the sound test. Would I be able to swap it with a better detachable mic like from the black shark v2 or Hyperx cloud 3?
just get the hyperx cloud III especially if you r sweaty tryhard :D
I always use and recommend a stand alone mic
@@uwetriceps3036 cloud 3 arent good
In Audio Comfort is King 👑 .. I don't need a chastity belt on my head! My picks are my HiFiMan XS Edition (or ANANDA-Stealth Magnets Version) Schiit Amp/DAC, and Røde microphone along with Dolby Atmos. To me it's like wearing nothing on my head. I also prefer open-back headphones.
.. Drop Sennheiser HD58X at $150 vs HD 6XX at $200, the HD58X are much easier to drive but the HD6XX are considerably noticeably better sounding especially for the extra $50. Both headphones are gateway headphones to audiophile headphones.
Ironic that Steelseries is always mentioned as being so comfortable but it’s almost necessary to change the ear pads to achieve that. I mean the Nova Pro Wireless should come packed with a set of Wicked Cushions just to make them usable
depends on the size of your ears
Agree completely a 350 dollar pair of headphones shouldn't need another 30 dollars spent on ear cushions just to make them a viable option
@@areitz1962 Maybe but there are definitely more reviews on KZhead where the reviewers state the ear pads need changing on the Nova Pro especially than those that do not. Now the 7x or 7 series in general are different due to not having ANC. I have the 7x myself but changed the ear pads to Steelseries leatherette option as it’s my personal preference.
@@barneyismyhero1 The ear cushions are premium, the ANC piece is the issue, but ya. It depends on the size of your ears too
Nah, they’re perfect outta the box. 💯
Hello, which is the absolute best all round for Xbox series x, I have no budget.
A40s are open. But youncan get the mod kit to make them semi-closed
Jeez techne i never noticed how much weight youve lost. Good job man!
My Maxwell's are soo heavy, can only game about 2 hours then they create a brutal hotspot on top my head. So, I only use them when I need specific good quality for a short time, other than that I usually opt for my SS nova 7. Or for major sessions like (8+ hours) even a cheap pair of logitech g 733. I find the weight wayyy better and I can tweak with software.
Man I can't relate, on a Saturday night, I play 8hrs straight with the maxwell, no problem, they're comfy af.. and really are not that heavy..
Same here
I haven't upgraded my gaming headset since I picked up the HyperX Cloud Revolver + 7.1 in 2020. I'm thinking it might be a good time to upgrade now, do you think its a good time or wait for 2024? If i was to upgrade now it would be between the Logitech Pro X 2 Wireless or SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless.
Which headset do you recommend for glasses comfort been the Maxwells and A50 for xbox. A40 were the most comfortable I've ever owned then I upgraded to the Artic nova 7x and can't even make it an hour before my glasses are pushed into my skull. Thanks!!
Both are great for glasses. But I agree the A50’s are very cozy! The maxwells are just so dang heavy
You heard about the headband breaking issues on the maxwell mate? Got me sweating everytime i put them on, you had any issues?
none for me.
@@TheTechne brilliant.. thanks for the reply.
I got Bluetooth 5.0 on my pc but no USB C input slot can I still use the nova 7s?
g pro x2 or arctis nova 7???
I'm sure these are all good, but I'm a big apologist of the "the best gaming headphones aren't gaming headphones" although the Maxwell get a lot of praise. But they're closed back. No matter how good a close back headphone is, it will never be as spacious and accurate as an open back.
Update alarm vest cosile or xbox headsets? ;)
What do you think about the Steel Series Arctis Nova Pro Wireless? I bought the BlackShark V2 Pro 2023 but debating on whether i should retuern it and get something else. What would you recommend for a Wireless Headset that has Bluetooth Option for Phone use? i live in Germany so i cant get the Audeze Maxwell right now as its not available at the moment.
Why would you return the Blacksharks, Thinking about getting them. Appreciate a responce
@@YoItsAct The sound Quality didnt really impress me and it disconnected at random times for no reason. I got the Nova Pro Wireless now and Sound Quality is miles better than the Blackshark imo. Mic is not as good as the Blackshark but still good enough.
@@marc313 I was looking into them as well. Or the new Astro A50 x. But glad I caught this response before I made a purchase. I have seen the disconnect issue with them, and has impacted my decision. Mic quality is awesome, but I can always get an external mic if needed. I’m leaning towards the Nova wireless as well as its 300$ rn. Lmk how you enjoy the nova. Thanks for the response
I honestly got rid of my blackshark v2 pros 2023 for the cloud 3 wireless, they are more comfortable, bettery battery life and the sidetone / in ear notifications way less annoying and mic is very good
and they should sound way better aswell or lets say way more accurate in terms of imaging , soundstage etc. the blacksharks have terrible tuning
I did the same. I returned the black sharks for the cloud 3 wireless. The sound is WAY better in every way with the hyper x
Do you think the microphone is good for Microsoft team's calls? I was thinking to buy blacksharks specially for the mic, but i heard good things about cloud 3 wireless how is the mic? Did you change it to 32k hz in Windows setting's the bad thing is that you can't EQ the mic.
@@Shwapx mic sounds fine to me. Mine is already set to 32khz
@@therealtyrant this do not sound too optimistic 😀
I heard the xbox version of the turtlebeach stealth pros are very quiet on the PS5. Why would that be? And should I go buy the PS5 version if thats the case (PS5 is the only console I own)
The ps5 version will be just fine, I've had it since almost day one. Just make sure you enable 3d audio on your playstation console and you're good to go. Turtle beach signature sound on the app settings sounds perfect, happy gaming!
Are there windscreens for the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7X's microphone?
No
Yoo techne would u recommend these 2023 blackshark v2 pro for rainbow six if so got an Eq???
I have turtle beach stealth pro they are brilliant for hearing footsteps
Something to note here. Wicked cushions adds a ton of weight. The maxwell weighs under 500 grams without those cushions. WC are literally double the weight of the stock cushions
a "ton" is a stretch
But its worth every gram. Your Ears will thank you. It is far from perfect, but it still reduces the heat.
what's better rk61 or gk61 for Fortnite btw I love your videos.
I want to get a wireless headset. I play some fps games and i watch movies too. I want it to be comfortable. I am between the maxwell the blackshark v2 pro 2023 and the steelseries 7x. I dont mind the price difference. I want to get the best. There is no way for me to try them so i can decide. What should I get???
What about comfort?
It's a major bummer to me how poor the microphones are on the Logitech and steel series headsets. Pretty much made it a deal breaker for me.
