    • Herodotus opened that story with "this is how the persians SAY they get their gold" the professor took Herodotus out of context. Not just there, but many other times throughout this lecture. Herodotus recorded first person accounts. He uses this story to highlight that the Persians have no idea where their raw materials come from. It has nothing to do with ants🤦‍♂️

      @thomaskourkoulis5726@thomaskourkoulis57262 жыл бұрын
    • I was going to say the same. Herodotus went into the project with the mindset that he would tell stories other people told him. Usually he would lead off with something like "I am just passing it along, make of it what you will." Sometimes he would come right out and say the story was nonsense, but he felt obligated to tell it. So I think critics have been pretty unfair to him. Where Herodotus shines is with events that he himself witnessed. He visited Egypt personally, so a lot of what he said was probably fairly accurate. Same thing with Scythia - he went and lived among them, talked to them, witnessed their ceremonies, etc. A lot of what he said about them has proven true with archaeology.

Odessa is located between the ancient Greek cities of Tyras and Olbia , not to mention that the majority of cities in Tauris ( Crimea ) have greek names. Iphigenia in Tauris is a drama by the playwright Euripides, written between 414 BC and 412 BC.

Alphabetic archaic written texts by Homer,Orfeo, Esiodo,Alkman,Saffo and others. Written texts are all replica. • Greek is an Indo-European language, which means its distant ancestor language was spoken on the Pontic Steppes in Ukraine. The original Proto Indo-European language was spoken there and was already breaking into sub groups by around 3000 BC when those people began invading Europe. Greek itself seems to have formed by around 2000 BC and was first recorded in writing by 1600 BC or so (Linear A and B). Some scholars believe Greek can be classed with the Iranian branch of IE, but this is not consensus. The Hittite languages are also IE languages but they are much older and it is clear Greek did not descend from them. This means Greek almost certainly did not come over from nearby Anatolia. Most likely Greek entered from the Balkans and this means it was probably closely related to the Thracian/Dacian languages. It is clear that Mycenean culture was intrusive to Greece and much different from the Minoans. DNA evidence has proven this. They have dug up elite Myceneans and Minoans and found that their ancestries were slightly different. The Myceneans had clear Steppe ancestry while all Minoans had zero. This implies Greece was invaded from the north by a tribe who setup their own aristocratic system and spread their language.

  • Could it be that all those big floods caused by the Gods were just due to climate change, and that ancient people sought for an explanation not knowing about melting ice? Maybe the moment the mediterranen Sea connected with the Black sea was one of these events witnessed by peoples in that area that told the story to the younger generation thus creating the myth of the big flood. I loved this lecture very much. I am too old to become a student, but lectures like this do help me to develop myself. Kind regards from the Netherlands.

The UK educational establishment; trading mostly on the increasingly threadbare prestige of past achievements is far more obsessed with WOKE, post colonialism and Identity politics, etc and other such rubbish than with promoting serious and critical academic studies and is now being run largely as a seedy financial racket and as a job creation scheme for the generally otherwise unemployable middle classes. • How did the name get continent Europe. Anthropology as there are also other myths and legends, defined, e.g. cult Mitra) had ethnic symbiosis with the Egyptians from the Peloponnese. According to legend, Kadmo is the brother of Europe, who was kidnapped by Zeus. Kadmoa, goes in search of Europe and according to legend he seeks it, first in Crete, then in the mainland of present-day Greece, and through Lihnid (Ohrid), goes to the eastern parts of the Adriatic coast. The legend of Kadmon and his Kadmians connects the land of Egypt (Thebes on the Nile), with Thebes in Boeotia, and finally with Thebes on the Adriatic coast (present-day Tivat). Even part of the road e c, the son of Zeus and Ia, is married to Memphis , the daughter of the Nile. They had a daughter named Libya (name elin for Africa). Libya has been the grandmother of Cadmus, Europa and Bel. Bel is the father of Danae (Elada) and Egypt (Egypt). One of Kadmo's sons is called Ilir (Robinson, H.S., Wilson, K.1976: 167; Pinsent, J. 1969: 48). According to legend, Kadmo was a Phoenician, Zeus kidnapped Europe from Phenicia, turned into a dog. The bull motif of Zeus, which carved out Europe, is often used in the art of painting and in figurative representations by many writers in Europe. Here can also be related the different circumstances of the legend of Kadmon and his wife Harmonia, their transformation into a serpent. Kadmo and his connection Enhelej (Enhalon eel), which as a symbol of the nation has the rich serpent 33 . Through the transformation of Zeus into a bull (the bull Apis is one of the most recognized gods in ancient Egypt) and the memorable connection to the Egyptian mesothera to the serpent Uazi, one can notice the echo and power of Egyptian civilization, in the myth and the legend of Kadmon, and with him shows some migratory movements of Egyptians in the Balkans. The legend of Kadmon can go into an archaeological context related to archaeological finds in Crete, Mycenae, Trebenishte and other archaeological sites.

  • I see a lot of tension in the comments and some of them got good points but a lot of them just talking about a nationalist point of view. All our states today (Greece, Albania, Northmacdonia, and and and) are looking for reason to call themselves more ancient than their neighbors to legitimes territorial clames (and for some other reasons far to complex to discusse on KZhead). What is true is that we all lived together in a lot of empires who rise and falls at this area which is known as a crossroad of 3 continents, so it’s clear that we all got influences from one and other and also from ruling dynasty’s and empires. The history ist mostly written by the winners and chanced often from time to time… culturally the hellens were much more diverse than modern greeks nationalists want to know, just as illyrian tribes. All of them used to war and complot against each other for different reasons. You all have to chill more about these kind of topics, history isn’t that accurate as some of you think, with every release of new archaeologic stuff history is updating itself, or at least gain other point of views. Mainland greeks, southern italians and Albanians are sharing pretty much the same DNA, which doesn’t mean that italians and albanians are pure blooded greece and also the moon and andromeda Galaxy was once greece and nationalistic shit like that 😂, it just means that we all been there fore a while and lived side by side, even influenced one and other. Modern state borders is a resultate about war, modern day history results by deformation of modern day countrys. That is a fact that aspecially citizens of nationalistic country’s like those at the balkanstates should know pretty well. I am not looking to trigger somebody here.

I wonder: in UK students don't actually have questions about the etymology of the name they hear? First thing a Professor does in Greece (Ellas), is to analyze the etymology of every single word in History classes, so as NO student leave the university without even known the basics!! That's a minus to this video.

Albanian language was taught in Epirus in muslim populations schools after the Youth Turk revolution in 1908 that stopped the Macedonian Struggle between Greece and Bulgaria. After the mass convertions in islam during 1800s in Epirus, especially Thesprotia/Cameria region and the albanian nationalism when Ali Pasha broke his relations with the ottomans the ballshit started between Christians/Muslims local population in the pressure to chose an ethnic state. Keep in mind that 'cameria/thesprotia' is a local and not ethnic term so the christian chams never learnt the Albanian language in schools in first place. Christian locals wanted to be part of Greece while muslims wanted to be part of an idepedent Albanian state.

Both Illyrians and Hellenes are branches of Pelasgian populations. The video talks about Pelasgians that lived in modern day Greece, Albania, Turkey, Italy, ancient Thracia and Egypt. Even during later periods, Alexander was Illyrian and Macedonian and all his soldiers were Illyrians. Homer did not speak Greek, he spoke Illyrian.

  • The Hebrews came to Greece when Babel fell! They ruled Sicyon, Greece. Noah sons came to Greece yet each called it by their own names. The History of Sicyon Athens was not the oldest city in Greece. That honor goes to Sicyon, a city located near Corinth. Interestingly enough, Sicyon ceased to be an important city during the flowering of Corinth, beginning in 1069. When Corinth became subject to internal strife during the reign of Periander, Sicyon again rose to prominence under the Tyranny of Clisthenes. It quickly achieved a high degree of prosperity and fame. The ancient city-state of Sicyon lasted 1000 years, according to Apollodorus and others. Its prominence blanketed the millennium from 2063 to 1063. That the figure should be exactly 1000 years has troubled many a historian. Yet that is the plain record of history. When will men learn that the destinies of men and of cities and nations are in the hands of God who numbers all things! He determines the times and the seasons during which men rule. There were other ancient Greek historians who reckoned the history of Sicyon differently. The information preserved from their writings assigns Sicyon dominion for only 962 years - that is, from 2063 to 1101. Year 1101 is the time of the re-establishment of the Heraclidae at Sparta, 80 years after the fall of Troy in the First Trojan War. Both these views of the history of Sicyon are valid. The difference is only one of viewpoint. For during the years from 1101 to 1063 the old dynasty at Sicyon was displaced by priests of Apollo Carnaeus who were subservient to the Heraclidae. The original name of Sicyon was Aegialea. This Greek name was derived from the city's first king, Aegialeus. The name Aegialeus in Greek means "man of the coastland" or "shoreland" (Smith's "Classical Dictionary", art. "Achaia"). Compare this with the meaning of the name Eber, or Heber, from which the word Hebrew is derived. One of the root meanings of Eber is "shoreland" or "shoreregion." Another root meaning is "migrant." Both are very closely related. The ancient routes of migration usually took one along the shores of a river or along coastlands. The evidence unmistakeably points to the name Aegialeus as a Greek translation of Heber. In other words, Hebrews were among the settlers of ancient Greece. Elisha, son of Javan, also settled the Greek coastlands. From him the name Hellas came to be applied to Greece. Early influence of Hebrew people in the Grecian land is also recorded throughout Greek history. Witness the incursions of the Hyksos - the Edomite Heraclidae - a branch of the Hebrews. Later the Danites from Palestine appear. The influence of Hebrews in the Grecian land helps to explain one of the most remarkable events in the Gentile world - the choosing of the Greek nation to preserve the New Testament Scriptures. The Greeks knew of the God of Shem because the Hebrews, a Semitic people, dwelt among them. Two thousand years in advance God was preparing the Greek people for the preservation of His Word. Moreover the Greeks have preserved most of the history of the ancient world. Manetho has come down to us, not in the Egyptian tongue, but in the Greek language. The early history of Assyria is found in Greek, so also that of the early kings of Media. But to return to the kingship of Aegialea or Sicyon. Kings of Sicyon Lengths of Reign Dates Aegialeus-Heber father of the Hebrews 52 yrs 2063-2011 BC Europs-Europe father of Europeans 45 yrs 2011-1966 BC. The Red Branch of Judah also came from Calcol of Athens as well as Darda of Troy in Greece. 1 Kings 3:31 ESV 31 For he-King Solomon of Israel was wiser than all other men, wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite-the Gaelic tribes, and Heman-son stoned Joshua 7, Calcol-Cecrops dynasty of Athens, and Darda dynasty of troy, the sons of Mahol, and his fame was in all the surrounding nations. www.hwalibrary.com/cgi-bin/get/hwa.cgi?action=get_acthesis&InfoID=1351719928

THOTH spoke Albanian! Thot means "to say" in Albanian Language. A study recently published in Science Magazine 2023 proves the antiquity of the Albanian language, which is much earlier than the Greek and Armenian languages > 8000 years old. Sanskrit, old Greek, and Latin languages are already dead. The Albanian Language is still alive. Albanian is the indo-european language.
