I hope my comment won't be deleted. I am on neither side since both sides are (in my perception and experience) heavily religious and a bit backwards (medieval) thinking. Yet even I can tell you that you shouldn't be surprised that many countries in Western Europe are pro-Israel. I was on a cruise last summer, and one of the stops was Israel. The ship was 70% Israeli passengers. The rest of us were Europeans and Americans (Southern & Northern). The Israelis were so arrogant, unpleasant, a bit passive agressive, and boastful since their buying power is good. And you could tell that they thought they're better than the rest of us. Even their kids did. You could tell by the way they looked at us. They were obnoxiously loud (almost as if on purpose) and not paying attention to how others around them feel. The worst is that the cruise staff is mainly South East Asians and Latinos, and the Israelis were rude to them. Even the Israeli kids were rude. Don't get me even started with how unpleasant the people in Israel were when we were there. And we are Slavic white and look quite good, so I can only imagine what the treatment is like to other ethnicities that they consider even worse. The looks we got there weren't welcoming ones. Anyways, when I returned to Austria, my boss asked me about the cruise, and I said only "I didn't really like the attitude of the people from Israel". I said nothing else about them, but that was already enough to make the conversation feel a bit unpleasant, and the topic was immediately switched altogether. Germans and Austrians have their history still haunt them, and have to seemingly repent for generations for what their ancestors have done during WW2. Which is sad and not fair (since I don't see the US, Russia, China, Japan etc having to do the same). I'm not gonna kiss anyone's A, on neither side.
