So happy with the wings- less happy with the rest of the cosplay but it's not bad! Kind of want to make another pair of giant wings already, what do you think, shall I try for 5 metre wingspan next time?? Husk has been on my to-cosplay list for a while...

I wish I had mechanical engineering skills to help, but hopefully someone can help you build a light weight, powered actuator so you can actually get a flapping motion.
Not questioning your running performances but the aerodynamic drag created by those wings would make it very hard to run a marathon.
Hey @MissTwisteddd you should get hold of me and have me show you my wing idea someday. Love your cosplays, take care.
The link is not working- Btw. I adore your cosplays!😍 My favs are all the once with the moving feather ears!🥳🤩 Mostly the owlchemist… so adorable and such a cool idea! (Especially the name idea!)🫶👏
@@Azura_Foxyyou may need to copy-paste it into your browser!
Alan Rickman would've loved this tutorial. The wings he wore as Metatron in Dogma weighed so much they fucked up his back.
oooof and honestly they weren't even that big!
@@MissTwisteddd Yeah, it was the combination of the wings *and* the harness that held them. When they sit down at the dinner you can see him wincing.
oh god, I feel so bad for him. propmakers should look at youtube tutorials
@@ThatDigitalDemon The movie was released ten years before Yotube existed.
@@brainflash1 ik ik but the point still stands
Cosplayers are just so surreal to me. Imagine, a human who has an interest and proceeds to paint their face, glue, sew, cut, and buy materials, and become the character. Man. That'd be so cool for a dnd session.
I gotta say as a cosplayer and dnd person, I'm not sure I could combine them cos I'm terrible at being 'casual' with my costumes, so they're always so bulky and full on that they're not very practical to sit and play dnd in!
Dirk.
A lot of dnd players cosplay their characters!
Other dirk. @@fakenayhn
That would be really cool. Like a bard that wants to infiltrate a place that's for minotaurs only and they don't want to use shape-shifting or illusion magic so they just start putting together a convincing costume and bluffs their way in.
Those are some GIANT WINGS
Ooh I'm definitely gonna make some even bigger ones next just you wait!
(and I really want to make some that move even more, maybe with some electronics or at least puppetry!
@@MissTwistedddOoh exciting! I can’t wait to see the results.
those also happen to be on the smaller side of what is estimated as a good size to get a human flying too
i love seeing the absolutely wild ways cosplayers use household plumbing and woodworking supplies in their cosplays
Going into Bunnings (the big aussie hardware store) is always hilarious cos they see me buying pipes, planks of wood, door hinges etc. and always ask what I'm building and I always have the funniest answers "a giant pair of wings" "faun legs!" "Would you believe a comically oversized sword?"
@@MissTwistedddOH MY GOD as an Australian I know this exact feeling. My dad and I walk into Bunnings a lot to get PVC pipes, pipe connectors, wood etc and they’re like “what’re you doing with these?” “Oh, you know.. build my daughter a 12ft Harkonnen Cannon for her birthday…” xD
@@Xombic0780 hahaha love those moments! The staff are either delighted or confused or horrified!
@@MissTwisteddd I do this at Lowe's hardware (US hardware store) when I'm working on a cosplay. Lots of plumbing supplies for tails of various sorts!
These wings look AMAZING. The movement is so animated, love the amount of thought and research you put into your cosplays. I hardly ever find myself interested in the cosplay community but this is one of the few channels I have an absolute exception for.
Thank you! I really enjoy experimenting with a particular technique or material, as I'm sure you would have noticed, so I think I can see why even people who aren't usually into cosplay like it!
I use that white foam all the time at my job. good stuff. an entire 4 foot diameter roll weighs like 15 pounds. Also do not heat it up. It has basically no thermal mass and just melts. Overall outstanding work, and super ingenious use of material.
I had a feeling that was the case, but didn't want to test it out haha! It's amazing stuff! I wish I'd bought thicker stuff as the 1mm thickness is so see-through. I've got some 3mm foam for next time and can still use up the 1mm stuff for the smaller feathers!
@@MissTwisteddd where do you get it from?
when I had it as a kid I ripped it into shreads and made a pompom
Fishing rod wings! That's GENIUS! And the speed you build your cosplays is dizzying!
frrr the cosplays r stunning
Ooooh! I have an old backpack from high school, and several old fishing rods in the garage. Plus a couple rolls of that packing foam. Now I *finally* have an easy way to make the wings for my winter fae!!!! I'll just have to figure out a way to hide/incorporate the straps into the outfit. Hmm...
Yesss that's going to be amazing! For me I ended up covering them in the same fake scale-mail. But you could do detachable sleeves or even just some fancy shoulder decoration stuff! (I find decorating something easier than fully disguising it)
@@MissTwisteddd So I've been doing more thinking on this. I have some thicker packing foam that I'm going to cut into somewhat jagged, triangular shapes to use as the primaries, with the hope of them ending up looking somewhat like icicles. Then the thinner foam will be the secondaries, with actual feathers for the coverts. Along the top edge I'm going to run ice-crystal fairy lights, and iridescent garland to look like ice and frost. I bought a couple cathedral-length bridal veils on clearance at a hobby store - I'll use them for the base layer of the wings. I'll also use more of the garland wrapped around the straps to disguise them. I have black plastic tubes from garden stake lights that I can use instead of the PVC.
@@beckymurphy4714 sounds like it could have some amazing texture to it!
As someone who can't even sew a sock neatly, god tier cosplayers like yourself look like sorcerer mad geniuses to me. This was so fascinating!! Thank you for sharing your art and the process with us so we can get a peak behind the magic. 💜
Thank you so much! (also, I cannot at all sew a sock neatly haha!)
i have never seen a better looking pair of wings, i’m totally trying out some of those techniques for my aarakocra cosplay!!
Cool
Oh my god- this is absolutely amazing.
Thank you so much!
You're very welcome have you ever thought of doing any Resident Evil co-pays you would be gorgeously amazing at those to as Jill Valentine ADA Wong Shelley Berkin Ashley the President's daughter
I love the flowy-ness of your wings! They came out great. Keeping them so light with fishing rods and lightweight foam was a great idea. And outlining each of the feathers was a nice touch to add some depth.
These wings are beautiful!! I would love to see an attempt at making Husk's wings with a similar technique :D
I aaah... may have already bought some new foam for that exact reason and I'm planning another trip to the op shops for more fishing rods!
For..totally unrelated reasons would it be possible to make giant moving cat ears ? I just adore any creature or character with big animal ears@@MissTwisteddd
I adore you. Also? I use kite ribs instead of fishing rod, 'cause they don't have the metal loops hanging off. But since you do a lot with control strings / tendons, I imagine the metal loops might be useful to you in other builds.
Honestly I was thinking of keeping them in for exactly that- threading some string through it! Unsure what for yet though. But kite ribs is a great idea! Might be harder for me to find second hand though!
So as far as cutting those fishing rods go most of them are actually made from graphite and not fiberglass the best way to cut them is a reinforced cutting wheel in your Dremel at the highest safe RPM you can reach with it with it mounted to a surface then hold the rod on either side of where you want to cut it and slowly turn it against the spinning cut off wheel so that it cuts through it slowly instead of trying to cut it all at once that should prevent it from splittering and cracking down the length of the rod section
Oh that's awesome, thank you! I'm less worried about graphite too. Might try that next time!
@@MissTwisteddd yeah usually in the bottom section right above the handle it should tell you what it's made
i absolutely LOVE these wings because they look like the real bone + muscle structures of actual bird wings which is awesome!! ive the foam base even looks like the muscle the feathers attach too! i loved seeing how this came together, the end result is awesome! (also very cool to me that the first lute cosplayer video i see was from a fellow australian ^^)
Thank you so much! And yeah agree, especially from the back you can really see the shape of them!
I’m going to cosplay Husk and I needed this tutorial! Thanks
Yesss I'm doing Husk next, he's gonna have even bigger wings, hope yours turns out great!
this is why i love cosplayers, most if not all of them are so creative with their costumes and their cosplays are always so beautiful
looking forward to all the philza cosplayers using this video to make the best set of crow wings ill ever have the pleasure of seeing
That's what I was thinking!

😮 this is extremely wonderful and very impressive, very good job 👍🌌
Thank you I appreciate it!
The swoosh on the wings is amazing!!!
Nothing like cosplay engineering...you're a genius!! Love everything you have done❤😊. Always enjoy everything you done🦉!!
Haha I wouldn't go that far, maybe not a genius but just very resourceful and determined. I appreciate it so much!
Now I want to make wings but I don't have the money to. When I saw how it looked and moved. I felt like I was going to cry because it was so smooth. I love giant wings, giant wings are so majestic and pretty! you have gained a new subscriber!!
Aaw well thank you! And totally understandable, cosplay is an expensive hobby! There are some waaay cheaper ways to do wings a little smaller as well, I've seen some amazing wings just with cardboard and paper!
WHAT ARE WE EVEN TALKING ABOUT??
Some Crack head who fucked up already

i allways find your voice so soothing. i just put your shorts on in the background (dont worry. i have watched every single one with focus before) and it just works
Aaw that makes me so happy honestly! I was really self concious about my voice and accent for a while, but starting to like it now!
@MissTwisteddd I love how the motion of this build works and looks 🎉 You are so talented!
I absolutely love the movement of this wings, especially when you stand up from the crouched position, they move so smoothly and naturally, omg! ❤ You’ve done a brilliant job!
I admire your work. You do a fantastic job. Keep it up!
Absolutely stunning
The whole thing is absolutely amazing! Thank you for sharing!!!
This is absolutely incredible!! I love how they ended up coming out!! They look so beautiful!! The whole cosplay is so sick!! I'm finally taking the steps to delve into the realms of cosplay myself and I'll hold this tutorial in the back of my mind!!
Pls make adam’s wings or Lucifer wings 🪽
I hope you see this, I absolutely love your ideas and cosplay and was hoping that I could make my OC a owl alchemist similar to the one you made but I don’t want to do that without permission so if it’s alright with you I would love to make an OC of an owl alchemist and post it.❤
Thank you so much, I've been seeing a lot of videos with this type of materials but noone ever shows the base, you helped me a lot Your winngs are AMAZING ❤
The result was really impressive ! 🤩 Thanks for all the tips. The wings was incredible.
Those wings are HUGE- the fact they bend so floaty too like- it looks so real! 😨😳😳 someday I wanna try doing this it seems so fun XD😂❤
the amount of work you put into your cosplays is insane, but it’s totally worth it bcs they always turn out literally *amazing* these wings are so impressive, good job!!
These wings are STUNNING! You did such a good job! The final look is incredible too! Well done !
I love all the cosplays you've done. This is amazing 'how it all comes together' building blog.
woah, okay, this looks AWESOME!! so glad you did lute. the wings are so graceful and flowy and i am in LOVE.
one of the better tutorials for wings, the exact thing my friend and I want for her Morgana cosplay, huge flowy and weightless, great work
having worked with some of the light white foam. If you want to give it more substance, a solid base, or more feather like, You can use a thin line of hot glue to do the trick. you can do a little (maybe a 1/4th) on the centerline (from your fold and pull) of the feather that is under another layer to give the feathers more...backbone? don't have a good word for it. Otherwise, you can do a thin line down the middle for the rachis/shaft if you are doing more realistic feathers. Shouldn't weigh it down too much and you can go thinner or thicker as needed. Experiment as needed and find what suits your cosplay the most! never underestimate the power of hot glue and cardboard! :)
thank you heaps! It's a new material for me and it's got so much potential. I also just discovered it comes in different thicknesses so that'll help with durability and the problem of it being so translucent. I'm going to try the 3mm stuff instead of the 1mm stuff!
@MissTwisteddd wouldn't hurt to see what 2 slices of 1mm with something in between would look like especially if it was a pearlescent celephane. Don't think that would work for lute. Thinking more #ForScience! That stuff works great for diffusing LEDs!
It’s so amazing that you have the patience for this, thank you for sharing your process in making this :))
they move so smoothly!!! i love the whole cosplay it is so beautiful :DDD
The wings are absolutely amazing! I've been contemplating making wings but the weight was good to be an issue. Thanks for the hints and tips.
WOAW The wings are soooo beautiful!! 🤩🤩🤩
Your puppetry skills in getting whatever extra limbs you create to move and flow the exact way you imagine is making me speechless every single time. I'm in awe!
Ohhhhhh mmmmyyyyyy gggggooooosssshhhh!! I ABSOLUTELY ADORE those wings!! 😲🤩😍🥰💜 What an AMAZING job you did on them! I have to agree with you, I'm really loving how "flowy" they are 💜😍💜. I really like the headpiece too! That's a GREAT costume my friend!! 💜🥰💜 I really look forward to your next endeavor 😎
This is your best work yet. Absolutely amazing!
It amazes me how dedicated you are to your portrayal of all the themes you portray. I have been viewing your past videos, and I have to admit awe and admiration for you. All the best to you now and in the future, Miss Twisted. It takes a lot of preparation to showcase just a few minutes of video. You are an artist of your craft and well deserved of all the views.
Thank you! I appreciate that so much!
I got giddy along with you when you first got the white feathers on, they look absolutely incredible! I will absolutely be utilizing similar methods when I go for my own cosplays in the future
Thank you sooo much, I couldn't find a good tutorial to make husk wings 😭❤️
This is incredible!!! And what a treat to watch!!! Thank you for sharing :)))))
God, it's just so cool. I can't stop looking at the final product, you're so awesome.
The flow of those wings is insane, it was such an interesting ride to come along as thou wert unraveling the process for us mere mortals. Plus thou made me laugh quite a few time. Congrats again on the final result, and on the ingenuity of the reused composants! 🎉🧡
You inspired me. Thank you for the costplay ideas
Oh my goodness. Wow. This cosplay is absolutely incredible! I love seeing the process of how the wings are put together, and from one Melbourne cosplayer to another, never stop creating your art!
Well thank you muchly fellow melbournite!

Love the owl jumpsuit. Owls are the best!
That turned out extremely well! Those wings have so much more movement to them than most cosplay wings. REALLY brings the character to life. And the mask/horns look incredible.

“Angels don’t make mistakes” great job those wings look amazing really inspires me to do my Adam cosplay. Only problem is he keeps his tucked most of the time under his arm pits so that’s gonna be fun to figure out.
This gave me some really great ideas for doing a Falin cosplay! although I think instead of fishing poles, I'm going to use fiberglass poles for garden netting. But I love this idea, I think they turned out fantastic, I love the shading!
I love your cosplays! Keep up the awesome stuff! And I love the wings 😊
This is so neat! I love how your videos contain original characters. I have an oc with has wings and you helped me gain yhe curage and knowledge to make it! 😀
