I randomly met "Max le bourlingueur" (Max the adventurer) in France in June 2022. Max is Belgian and has tried different setups before settling on the current trike system. He now lives permanently in his bike-drawn caravan, the first year of 10 years that he's planning to do so. He agreed to let me film him, as part of his effort to promote cyclotourism and cyclo-nomadism. Enjoy the video and if you'd like to tip and support Max in his journey, feel free to donate by clicking on the "❤️ Thanks" button right below the video. Thank you for watching!

This is exactly the way I want to live my life! Kindred spirits! Much respect and love!
Those are probably the happiest dogs on the planet!
No, they were not quite happy at that stage, they were exhausted, it was obvious for anyone with eyes . As an owner of several dogs in my life, beautiful creatures with very short lifespan compared to us, I can read their body language because I lost several to old age.💔🖤 The life of a dog owner is cruel, one always watches them go first…🙁 As they age, when they get old they become tired and when returning home from a regular walk they just sleep: at first, only for one hour or so but in few months for longer hours after each walk. One day, they won’t be as happy as before when they are told it’s the daily walk-time, they won’t run to the door anymore or bring the leash themselves and another day in not such a distant future, they will want to return home after walking half or less the usual distance and if you insist they continue, they will walk back towards home by themselves for a few good meters; one day they will simply lay down right there in the street to rest or simply return by themselves towards home watching you with a guilty expression on their kind face, but still… I know old dogs, I had about 5. One ends up taking them till the end of the street and back - you end up taking them to the park by car and they’ll be grateful for that. They are just like people, get old and have arthritis and hip problems and spine problems and teeth problems (they loose some of their teeth slowly one by one some breeds) and heart problems. All these happen after 8-9-10 years of age or earlier, depending on the breed. They even turn gray, I’m not kidding. No matter what colour their coat is, except for the white ones, when they are old you know because the hairs on their muzzle turn slowly gray then totally white. Trust me, I know dogs and their exact needs and issues.
Everything you said is true. And remember those dogs are huskys or Malamutes bred to pull and run long distances in the snow. I expect heat is the more harmful thing for them and it is evident they get too much of that!
What a lovely concept and great set up. He seems happy and in harmony with himself and his life style. That he kept the drawings of the kids he worked with was touching. He’s a kind soul. Wish him the best of luck on his adventure.
Absolutely! He was also very approachable, even when he was having his late lunch with a mere sandwich.
Taking your time to travel with your dogs, beautiful experience 👍
It really seems to be!
Re-assessing life can lead to something much more meaningful for the individual if they are brave enough. Enjoy your life journey
So this proves derelicts are everywhere.
Bravo Max. Portes toi bien et fais attention à toi.
I love that bike camper build, it's probably the best one I've seen. I also love the solar panels on top of the camper. Happy adventuring.
Wow! That little cabin is awesome! Love it. The dogs seem happy to have a job-kind of. Really dig the whole setup. Wish I could do something like this but I would need more space. I’m not sure I could take being in something that small. Except being outside so much maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. Little claustrophobic but he is cycling most of the time . Never know until you try! God bless & keep him and the dogs safe. And try and see your mom. She’s not going to be around forever.
Bravo Max ! @max le bourlingueur.
It takes a humble soul to acknowledge he was once helped, and a great man to give back by helping others. I wish peace and health to this man, kids he used to work with, his dogs, his mother, and the owner of this channel.🙋
I kn right. It's Just beautiful to me..❤❤❤
What a fantastic nomadic way to live and travel. I'm loving this! I like how the dogs help pull the caravan.
They are not pulling anything, watch the video again.
The where running next to him
I felt pity sometimes dogs running
That is interesting. Thank you.
Very nice!
This is what I am dreamed about. wow what a adventure!
Wish I could make one of these campers
Good for you! I wish I had understood this when I was younger because my life had been so repressed.
What makes you say your life has been repressed? What would or could you want to change or do now?
We each find our way in life. All the luck to you, Max!
Congratulations…Promoting cyclotourism is my plan too…I want to own two pieces of land and developed them for those cyclists that need camping accommodation on Canada’s cross country trail ( Southern Ontario) and in Florida where I live for those cyclists who want to see Florida in the winter…wish me well and wish for me to do it soon for I am not young any more…
What a wonderful idea, best of luck to you and thank you for leaving a comment here!
Thanks for the great video
Wow. I've never seen anything like this. Happy next 10 years of traveling ❤
Thank you for your kind appreciation!
That is sooooo SUPER AWESOME ❤ if everyone lived like that the world would be a whole lot better place - 🎉
It is quite impressive indeed. Thank you for having left a comment here!
I also caught this kind of bug after watching some videos... Decided to build a coroplast camper on a 1 ton farm wagon frame.. Put the class 1 hitch on my Electric cargo bicycle by adding a wooden box with zip ties to the frame, has been working well for a couple or few years... been using it more for shopping then camping... It's very basic but also lightweight around 200 lbs in total with a few things in it even... it commands presence on the road... People generally exhibit more curiosity and respect than road rage
Love Ur home have a beautiful life and a safe journey God bless ❤️
I give him the best of wishes just keep it up. the little things can make a difference.❤❤❤🦋🦋🦋
So ingenious!
Absolutely! When I saw Max's little trailer from a distance, I couldn't help but get closer... and to talk to him even though I'm quite shy!
Someone should design a bike camper with a seat that folds down into a double camp bed. a whole new revolution in tour camping could begin.
Love the idea!
That is exactly what I am now building in Massachusetts. My design has evolved from electric cargo bike based on a Cruzbike T50 front wheel drive recumbent. My evelovan? will be ~270cm long, ~90cm wide tilting delta trike with FWD. There will be a front fairing and tear drop style cabin covered in solar tiles for reasonable aerodynamics. The folding down seat allows cabin inside space to be about 200cm I plan to relocate back to UK, get Irish passport then tour all over Europe with my beagle if permitted. No plans to commercialize it, but will likely share construction details on youtube when complete.
@@briannugent5518 Amazing, do share the video whenever you are creating one, would love to see! Good luck with the build!
@@Sebastian Thanks Sebastian, my plans are complicated by the relocation coming first and what I can ship back to UK. I'm inspired by all the amazing solar assisted cycle tour videos on YT. Once in UK I'll need a work shop and probably start the design over moving to TIG welded aluminium frame.
@@briannugent5518 make the fold down seating long enough for comfortable sleeping, that will make all the difference for long term camping.
Respect from Taiwan. This is also what I want to do, too.
Bonne route l'ami!
How does he make money whilst travelling?? Bravo max 💪💪
Bonne route Max !
😉
So cool! Merci pour partage avec nous!
Merci pour votre gentille appréciation !
🦋🦋🦋Beautiful just Beautiful 🦋🦋🦋🦋
You are amazing!!!!
I have a solar trike setup.. i did a couple things to keep the motor spinning fast and cool. added a Lekkie 30T narrow wide sprocket, keeps motor spinning fast with lower torque.. Added a Rohloff to give more options for Power:gear:speed ratio.. i watch the watts to find the most efficient usage of current. And i go into gear 1, and power level 5 uphills .. This keeps the motor cool. I also carry frozen wet rags, that i put in ziplok bags and freeze over a bottle to the shape of my motor.. If i see a steep hill coming, i place one of the frozen wet rags on the motor before the climb. I never over heat. :). Thanks for he video.
Thank you for your detailed commenta and for watching the video!
He is very handsome ❤
😂
God bless as long as you are happy ❤😊❤
Pretty cool the different ways people enjoy life
Absolutely!
Those dogs seem very happy
Funny to watch the huskys attention on the camera person
Super cool, a super idea.
T’es un vrai toi !!! Jsuis fan car jsuis comme toi ! Magnifique roulotte vélo ! Tout simplement génial !
Bravo Max, tout de bon!
Bravo monsieur, longue route à votre attelage…👍
Merci beaucoup
Very cool experience Max
Wow, just came back to this video and congrats on going viral lol!
Thank you, and thanks for noticing, Tom. I was also surprised it suddenly got viral over the past few days indeed, although it's one of the videos which likely took me the most amount of time shooting and editing, to create something more compelling. What surprised me though, was that the interview videos with Rainbolt didn't go as viral!
@@Sebastian I think in time the Rainbolt videos might! You have exceptional talent Sebastian, your thumbnails and videos content are very very good. Glad to see you getting the recognition you deserve now.
@@tomgeoguessr Thank you so much for your kind words, Tom - they certainly inflate my ego :). In all humbleness though, your appreciation helps keep me motivated! Thank you again!
I would like to see more of this. Sincerely! R.S.V.
Nice 💯👍👍
Thanks ✌
a realy great man ... love you Max ... enjoy your trip ...
i dream of living like that
Go for it, if you can!
You will do it, or you will not do it. You decide. Go well.
@@tomellis487 ive started to practice i have some new videos on my channel
I notice you have an HP Velotechnik Gekko. Great trike. I almost got one in 2021, but ended up opting for the Scorpion Enduro instead. I am a long distance trike adventurer, but nothing like what you do. You may wish to consider some pedals that have made a HUGE positive difference in m ability to ease the effort when pedaling up hills and mountains (It is very mountainous where I live on the western coast of the United States). The pedals allow the entire foot to push, and are much longer than the short little pedals you have. With the foot supported heel to toe, you can put MUCH more power directly into each pedal stroke, something I realized only after trying out these pedals on my HP trike. The pedals are high grade aluminum, with 18 traction pins per pedal (each side) to keep your feet from slipping off while pedaling. The cost was $149 US dollars, but they are worth every bit that much, and I am SO glad to have replaced my clipless pedal setup that I used for the past 13 years. Here are links to videos that I did about these pedals on my KZhead channel to give you an idea: kzhead.info/sun/e5ScXaqErmusi6s/bejne.html kzhead.info/sun/qsNyZqelgaR6qK8/bejne.html And here is where I bought these great pedals: pedalinginnovations.com/ I learned about them from another trike adventurer, a fellow named Matt Galat who started riding a trike around the world in 2014. He loves them, and now I know why! I would never go back to small standard pedals that are not good for the feet. I now have NO foot pain, like hotspots, any more. Riding up hills is not fun compared to what it used to be! steve
Did you do the beautiful uphill trek near Multnomah Falls? Saw cyclists there frequently and your comment made me remember that beautiful place and the overlook at the top. Respect.
@@cynthiaaustin1763 Hello Cynthia, I have been to Multnomah Falls many times over the years, and have hiked the narrow and steep trail all the way to the top. It is indeed very worthwhile and memorable. steve
I would love to live this life. Unfortunately if you live in the UK it would be vandalised or set on fire.
So which countries would be suitable for something like that. And legal especailly if you not a citizen of that country
Super top
What a great way to live ❤
Great rig!
Nice😀 well done🇳🇴
😅💪🏼👌🏼 Love that Kind of living too. I ´ m in france too at this Moment 😅👍🏼 Many greetings, Michael 🙃👋🏼🍀
I'm not ready to become a full time cyclo nomad but I would pay to join a cyclo tourism ride for a couple weeks twice a year. This guy has an ace life.
Trop cool bonne route
Tre bien 🇱🇧🇺🇸
Good job sir
Felicidades y Gracias.
i love this :D
Really nice story!
Mulțumesc foarte mult!
Hello my dear friend I like your videos very much ❤ Love you 🌹
Haha thank you very much!
❤🌹
Super!
Tres interesting
Wow what a way to live. I wonder in which countries in the world would a lifestyle like that be possible.
😊👍🇨🇦 love the dog team
Complimenti 👍👍👋👋
I totally empathise with him, his lifestyle and everything he said except I believe that it’s extremely extremely tiring for the dogs to make them walk every day for that long; I could tell they were really tired when he stopped for the interview and the dogs just dropped dead, one in the bed, the other one in the shade out there and they were like dead tired that’s not good for the poor things.
I can assure you he will get tired before a border collie and husky will, as long as it’s not too hot and they get plenty of water they will run all day
@@advantagemarine7305 it looked very warm in the video and underfoot in the tarmac. I wouldn’t dream of exercising my dogs in the heat. Maybe that’s why he keeps to the coast, but there should be some alternative transport for the dogs, so they can ride in the heat of the day!
Good on you mate. Living your dream. You are an inspiration
awesome content..subscribed...
Cheers, thank you!
What a cool dude
Look up foamie camper builds. Then tow one with your bike. Except you run spare batteries in the camper with a cable connecting it to the bike with a mid drive motor.
Nice....Oui doucement surement et chiens heureux ,bonne route
Cool
genial
Nice
Magaling😊😊😊😊😊😊
He calls himself a "Cyclo- nomad" Ha! Great term.
I wish I could speak French. I love this life style I will retire in 8 years and I will be doing the same thing.😊
Never too late to start learning the most beautiful language of all times (not biased at all)! Start with an app like Duolingo. Best of luck to doing the same thing and getting the years in until retirement!
Not a tiny home , but a rectangular Box
how often are you harassed by police or bad actors? I'm considering this kind of setup and a bit apprehensive. my past experiences with homelessness have been rather unpleasant.
you could put a yurt in that thing
Surtout qu'on sue à pédaler! 😅
I've spent weeks looking at bike trailers. This is the nicest design i've seen. Well done. Do you have any opinions on using a trike vs a quad or standard bicycle?
T’as oublié The love is all ! avec le clip et la grenouille ! Je crois…
Have you ever put the dogs inside and not had the run on the side, so they can get rest?
i bet he likes to watch them suffer,
Do your dogs get tired of running? Or do you have frequent stops for them, a place for them to ride?
I'm interested to know how often you are harassed by bad-actors and police. Love your spirit.
Watching this from Massachusetts USA. You have a really nice set up. Are you planning on getting electric heat for the fall and winter?
