    • Oh, they're stoppable. It's just that now they're the new kid on the block. I have been binge watching kdramas and there is a few things that might take them down. First, the repetitive tropes. Second, the hostile Korean netizens that are over-judgemental on the actors. It's part of the culture that won't transfer well in the West, and it does have an effect. The Western viewer attaches themselves to the actors and actresses that star in the shows, but it seems like every time one of them gets popular, they get taken down for some indiscretion that barely garners a blink in the West. So, it does give the impression that older, more accomplished actors get taken down and it leaves one with the impression that Korea prefers a youth culture. I know that my interest will wane if this nonsense continues.

    • You mean the other way round? There are many older actors with insane scandals (from tax evasion, to infidelity and r*pe/sexual and physical assault, etc) that are still acting just fine, but the younger actors are being scrutinized like hell. • He is a great actor. I hope he pursues an international career since some Knetizens have canceled him because of a drug issue. I understand that drugs are strictly prohibited in South Korea. Considering that Yoo In Ah has suffered from depression, panic disorder, and sleep disorder, which might have contributed to his drug usage, it's disheartening to see how some Koreans think very negatively. Instead of considering the need for rehabilitation, they just cancel the person, as if he had committed a serious crime. It's not like he is a drug pusher. Would law and order survive? What horrors would previously-gentle people commit as nothing matters anymore?

  • I’ve discovered oriental cinema from Japan, China and South Korea about 25 years ago when I first saw In the Mood for Love by Wong kar way and also Natural City which is a Korean blade runner and I never went back to Hollywood movies again in the general sense. Koreans and Japanese are masters at creating human characters even in blockbuster movies. There’s one called FLU about a pandemic which is incredible, also we got the Train to Busan on zombies which is outstanding, there’s incredible love stories like IL MARE or My sassy girl from Korea, Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong from a Chinese lady director and super fun space movies like Mission Victory from Korea on Netflix too. All stuff with tons of heart. And of course Godzilla minus one that told Hollywood how blockbusters should be made.

  • Stand up for Yoo Ah In people. Tell to Netflix what do you really think of editing him out from most of the scenes and leaving him only in those impossible to edit out. Please tell also to director of this series, as well as to South Korean public, what you really think about public hate expressed against Yoo Ah In and practice to call him guilty while the Court of Law is still hearing out the witnesses and didn't come out with final verdict. Because remember: Yoo Ah In is innocent as we speak, and will be guilty only if the court establish his guilt. The Court established no such thing till this very moment. Most of you just silently observed what Koreans and their public hate did to Lee Sun Kyun. He was innocent too. Accussed by criminals, but legally innocent till the day he died. Those that killwd Lee are the same ones that Netflix supported with editing Yoo Ah In out. And remember: who is silent, agrees.
