Imagine being a kid staying up late to watch this, and Stephen King says “Santa Claus isn’t real”
Truly the scariest thing he's said. But if they're old enough to know his work then they should come to grips with reality. It's crazy how gullible kids are, maybe it's just because the ones they trust the most lie and they don't want to ruin the magic.
@@illestvillain1971 the magic that kids feel when they hear Santa has given them presents isn't just something the kids feel. It's an experience for the parents too ya know. It's a great feeling seeing tour childs face light up when they see the presents they got. I would also probably argue that most parents would agree that they get just as much joy out of it, if not more, just seeing their child believe in something magical like that. And besides, they're kids. Of course they're going to be naive, but you shouldn't shame them for that. Just let them be children while it lasts because when it's gone you regret it.
@@alohipahoa-guzman4109 that's the truest thing I've ever hearf
@@alohipahoa-guzman4109 Ok. That's a little sad: "the only way kids can have an iota of joy is if you lie to them". I think it develops a good bond with your parents if they are the vendor of your happiness. Telling them a ridiculous lie is going overboard, and won't help with trust. Plus imo it stunts development. Kids are growing up way too slowly of late; it can't help tremendously that we baby them incessantly.
That's why Conan said what he said
Stephen king looks like some character he created for his book and then thought it was too good that he himself became it
... or IT became Stephen King
He looks like a dr. Seuss character
I thought Jordy Verrill lost his accent....
Well, Stephen King is a Stephen King character, so...
😅😅😅😅That is perfect!!!
Conan: "you give nightmares, but you yourself sleep just fine" Stephen King: "it's more blessing to give than receive Conan" -says two legends
@@LoganLemmer I have no idea what your talking about or referring to but right on👌

Stephen is pretty awesome. He is his own worst critic. Thank god his wife took Carrie out of the trash.
Can you elaborate? (Not sure who Cassie is)
And an iconic movie.
Oh, Stephen King would not be what he is today without his wife Tabitha, absolutely NOT. She is that man's rock and saviour. And it's usually how it is with these iconic figures. Niels Bohr, the Danish Physicist, he couldn't even tie his own shoelaces. His wife had to do that. Nevertheless, Bohr, was part of the Trinity Project and author of the Copenhagen Interpretation on Quantum Mechanics. So, there you have it...
There's a great woman behind every man.

@@Beehighfive excuse me, but where did these charges come from ?
@If you laugh you sub! I'm also aware of DeNiro and Hanks. There are thousands of these men and as more and more names come out we are going be horrified because most of them will be famous with household names. Ex Senator George Mitchell from here in Maine traveled to Epstein Island. He says he did nothing wrong though. Like anyone freaking believes him. Check out Tiffany FitzHenry. She posts videos on you tube. She works in film and is outing the sicko's in Hollywood. Oprah and Reese Whitterspoon shut down the #Metoo movement and changed the name to #TimesUp. They are protecting Harvey WeinStein. The times up movement is Oprah's baby. It takes on white people attacking blacks. Like they claim happened to Jussie Smollet. Oprah can't protect the pedophiles. The stories are coming out.
@@Beehighfive Whatever, i dont think so but, both great and smart man thats for sure
@@Beehighfive What the hell are you talking about? Where did you get that false accusation from? Over-sensitive people like you that over-analyze every little thing are the reason for the deterioration of our society. Chill out. If you don't get the humour or the genius, watch something else.
"Would you feel that about your first sexual experience?" You know you're good when you make Conan stop in his tracks... What a reply
well it honestly is a good question, i'm not a Sox fan but ya know what having said that i'm glad they won that year now we just need to have the Indian's to win at least once in my lifetime
Conan's answer was even better. He's the "King" of the witty comebacks. 😊
Yep....I think he's like a repressed catholic....went to church every day as a kid, named after an archbishop.
It is the first time that i witness a speechless Conan! hahahahah. He is the king of comebacks! Man, Stephen King is good.
I think that was premeditated
“Santa Claus isn’t real, and I am. SORT OF.” Um, all my suspicions have been confirmed.
He's wrong there. On some level of the Tower that old fat guy exists and DOES crawl down chimneys. Of course in a Stephen King novel what he does when gets down the chimney is probably liable to cause nightmares, but he IS real!
Saying Santa isn't real is a big no no on most of these shows. Conan tried to save it
Ghostwriters confirmed!!!
@Howie Feldersnatch There is nightmare before Christmas.
😅😅😜😅😅
This video is like, “Santa clause hates Christmas.”
More like that mustache guy from the grinch than Santa
"Santa Clause HATES orphanages. And he HATES spoiled brats who live in orphanages." Remember that sentence. Coming soon to a bookstore.
Fun fact : Stephen King wrote *The Shining* after he had a nightmare in a hotel about his kid being chased by a hose.
A hose. He dreamt his kid was being chased by a fire hose. Which made its way into the novel.
@@nl3064thx corrected it.
BULL PUCKY! He wrote it after hearing of ghost stories after he and his wife stayed at the 'Stanley Hotel' in Colorado. He came up with the idea of room-237 because he stayed in room-207, and that's supposedly, a haunted room where visions of a woman is sometimes seen.
"I'm convinced that 98% of the population hates clowns, and the remaining 2% are clowns." - Daniel "Danny Sexbang" Avidan

The concept of Stephen King being a Halloween Santa Claus is actually kind of cool.
Stephen King looks like he should have a moustache.
He used to rock a full Francis Ford Coppola beard.
@Greig91 😂😂its true!

@@hum21 lol I'm pretty sure he realizes how weird a look that was for him
Fun Fact: Stephen King was on so many drugs when he wrote the book "Cujo" that he does not remember writing it. It ended up being one of the highest-selling books at the time and was adapted into a film which was one of the highest-grossing movies at the time.
doing drugs is finally cool
@@cluelessjpg It's not that it's cool. It's just the idea that so many successful people that have been on drugs while doing what they love doing have 100% always succeeded.
@@WolfgangLunar The writer of coo coo nest was on acid and other drugs while writing it to.
I don't know where you read it was one of the 'highest-grossing movies at the time'. It received "mixed reviews" was only "a modest success" financially, at least that's what the wiki says on it. It grossed $21.2 million at the box office, a contemporary release (also 1983) was Star Wars: VI - ROTJ, which grossed $252,583,617, over 10 times that of Cujo's measly return. 15 years later, Titanic grossed $2.202 billion, 100 times more. However, I will say it's interesting that talented people, off their minds on a plethora of strong substances, can create breathtaking masterpieces. Jimmy Page being one that springs to mind.
@@sakikogookheng he said at the time
Sharp, funny and strange. You can tell he has the mind of a writer.
I like how Stephen King said he himself might not be real 😂

He's not here to amuse you.

Stephen King looks like he was put in hitstun halfway through becoming a Dr. Seuss character
My kids trick or treated the King's every Halloween in the 90's. They seemed to enjoy passing out candy, and it wasn't thousands of people or big crowds back then. Regular street, over the top house.
That’s crazy!! Off topic but Autumn is so lovely in Maine. Must be such an amazing memory for ur kids
Every time I see one of these old interviews with a now elderly celebrity I'm afraid they've died.

Love how Conan considered kids might be watching and corrected King by saying Santa might be real...
This is extremely high quality for a piece of footage that’s 14 years old.
Professional tv production 14 years ago is not that much lower quality than today. Videos this old don’t need “remastering”.
It wasn't the 80s dude
*Black Sheep Squadron* I know, but most videos from this long ago that are just clips from TV are really low quality here on KZhead. Why can’t they all be like this?
@@ParzivalTheThird NBC gave Conan's crew access to the original Late Night footage from their archives, so it's better quality than some random person's upload.
@@ParzivalTheThird Because those are recordings on tape from people's TVs. This is the original source film. When you have the original films, you can digitize it at whatever resolution you want, up to something like 28k. 70mm film is the equivalent of 28K resolution when projected on a movie screen. Buy the DVD of an old show. It will look great! Record a Tv show onto VHS, it will be limited to the quality of the VHS.
If he had a mustache he'd be ned Flanders
i think gacy had the market cornered on 'scary clown' before king ever thought of it
I hadn't ever seen a Steven King interview before, he's very funny, on top of his prolific writing career, read several of his books when I was a kid, kept me up at night, so I learned to read them during the day
Yeah I learned that with him and George Orwell also. I finished 1984 at 3am when I was 14. Bad move
@@celticcheetah6371 funny, but true
If you ever saw him act in “Creepshow” circa 1983-ish, you’d know this genius was not just a one genre person. @@itsokbabygirl He was soooooo good in creepshow If i remember correctly he played the farmer that comes across like a meteor that makes everything overgrown and he becomes like a plant man? ahhhh the memories thank you
Mr. King is a national treasure. I'm grateful, not only for the scares, but for the beauty in works like "The Body" (on which "Stand By Me" is based), "The Green Mile" and "Rita Hayworth & The Shawshank Redemption".💙
Different seasons is such a masterpiece of a collection
A master storyteller.
The Body! Thanks for reminding, I need to read that again
King's excellent at writing horror, but I highly recommend giving his non-fiction a read as well; Danse Macabre, On Writing, and Faithful are all fantastic.
I agree! I’ve loved many of his fiction books, but the non-fiction works are absolutely the best of the kind! So much talent, that man.
Danse Macabre is my personal favorite King book. It’s like reading a transcription of an extended lecture of his, only unlike most lectures it’s captivating throughout.
Stephen King looks like Ray Liotta and John Carmack fused together.
Thats so true, the whole time i was thinking of Ray Liotta and now that you mention Carmack.. hmm damn it. I will never see him in another light again haha
Like he said, " I attract weirdness". He was actually run over by a van. I mean..c'mon!
In Bangor. How many vans are there?
How is that weird?
Being run over by a van isn't "attracting weirdness". People get hit by cars all the time. Unless you mean because it's like Misery? That's just a coincidence, not attracting weirdness.
I love how he just, on live television - "Santa Claus isn't real" Little kids watching live TV with parents at home :'O
I was going to say why would little kids be up watching a late night show, but I was watching David Letterman at that age too lol
King: Santa Clause isn't real. And then O'Brien trying to save it for the kids watching the show.
“I attract weirdness.” - Stephen King, 2005
That explains Song of Susannah
He just said that Santa Claus isn't real on live television probably knowing that little kids are probably watching......what a savage.

The only person who scared him was Ronald McDonald. Great story.
Ron McD lit up a Kent. That is extra scary. 2nd hand from one of them? Oofa!
It´s nice to see someone that smart being interview. Love Stephen´s books and now his humor
The scariest thing is when someone nice or innocent, like a child or teacher or cop, is evil. Or if they’re doing something evil while they say nice things
Conan did such a great job interviewing [the] King! Love them both.
Anyone else notice that cool play by Conan after not getiing the handshake right at the beginning??
Stephen King: i attract weirdness Me: hahahaha
Stephen King looks like a who from one of Dr. Seuss’s books and no one can change my mind.
That was such a great interview. Enjoyed every aspect of it.
Who knew Stephen King was so fast? It was like tennis with Conan. The Shining is fantastic.
These old clips drive me nuts! I saw the thumbnail and thought, "Wow! He looks so young! Did he have work done?" No....It's just from 14 years ago.
Kris neither men age
Stephen has such a great sense of humor "I hate Halloween" "Its a blessing to give than recieve"
"You were one of the first people to show that a clown could be scary." Joker and Killer Klowns from outer space: "Are we a joke to you?"
"It's little, but it's powerful." That's what she said.
*laughs in Michael Scott*
fun fact, ive been going to his house the last 10 years for halloween, he lives in bangor maine a few blocks from me.
That's awesome. If I were you I would have went so I could meet him. Yet, since you live close by and he lives in the same city as you, it's probably no big deal. To others around the world it would be but to the people who live close by and are used to him being there, he's probably seen as an ordinary person. He was the reason the Red Sox won in 2004. He was at that 4th game of the playoffs against the Yanks. A reporter said the series was as scary as one of his books, to which King replied, "I do believe in suspense, but I also believe in happy endings." The Sox went on to win 8 straight

I love the book but I love all of King's books. even the not so good ones. There is always something in there worth reading. But Salem's Lot is really great.
Man I can write paragraphs how much I love Salem's lot
Reading it now, Love it!!
I love it, it’s my favorite King book, and now that I have already watched “Doctor Sleep “ and “Gerald’s game”, I hope that someday “Salem’s lot” will have a decent feature film adaptation directed by Mike Flanagan
Great deadpan humour from King.
I THINK WHAT A LOT OF PEOPLE DO NOT REALIZE IS THAT Stephen King is a writer and Conan was also a writer (for TV). So two people who have the same ability of creativity, also masters of their craft, trying to have a conversation. That is what makes this so interesting.
"Well, would you feel that way about your first sexual experience?" Doesn't even kind of miss a beat 😂😂
Feels like there were no people in the crowd and the laughter is just added in afterwards.
Conan, Letterman, The Tonight Show, they ALL have live audiences. If you mean the laughter itself sounds odd, that's probably the mixing, because I do believe it's usually mixed to keep the audience levels a bit higher than natural, for effect. But yeah, it's still a real audience.

The quality of this video it's impressive for 2005, looks better than today's videos...
They've used different cameras back then.
