I have a solid belief this is another on of those projects that isn’t gonna work out
No worries just wait and buy it at retail when we release.
I mean, they got a product ready to go and I'm sure someone is willing to pay for this level of customizability. Even if it doesn't work out it would still pioneer an entire new line of keyboards.
Why are you discouraging a small startup ?
@@aayaan1935 probably because there’s been hundreds of these types of products that end up being complete scams
On that we agree.
This can be really a game changing product, if they manage to retain the tactile feeling of typing.
Maglev key switches? For gaming?
did you watch the video?
1:32 says explicitly "maglev key switches." I can only speculate that the "tactile keys for typing" and "linear keys for gaming" are different strengths of magnets. While it's an interesting development, 1:35 shows some keys already unaligned with nearby keys. Did you watch the video?
Can you imagine if they did like chroma has and got with game devs and had them create custom things for it that would put it over the moon.
@@skyjogger3256 i have no idea what you just said.

Hi, there are USB ports on both sides so you can add a numpad. We are also planning to roll out a Flux numpad next.
@@fluxkeyboard Very nice, I'll keep an eye out for when that comes out
A clear silicone overlay for a cheap tablet should cost a few dollars to make. If made well enough it would be usable but not very good compared to this. A lot simpler and cheaper though.. I experimented with a few matches stuck together to make a 3x3 staggered grid, cut out squares of clear plastic and thin strips cut out of balloons, I got it quite usable as a concept but the feel was not even as good as the roll-up silicone keyed keyboards. It needed some kind of click other than the key hitting the screen and the quite taught rubber was not going to stay tight for long. Fun though, The travel and spring back was good. I shelved it and it got broken. -- What's needed to make it strong and cheap is opaque key frames that hide (probably shared) springs/silicon pads. I'd be happy with 3mm key gaps and 2mm opaque border around each key as long as up to 4 symbols can be clearly seen.
bruh, this gave me goosebumps - amazing product showcase!
It doesn't exist. They want you to give them money so they can turn their CGI into a real product based on "just trust me, bro. we can make it work somehow."

I think a numpad-only version of this with the dial and other modules would have been a nice middle-ground without the crazy price tag, hopefully they eventually get there
So you mean a streamdeck?
it is called a streamdeck XD
in reality its not that crazy of a price. my pc mouse was $150 my keyboard now was $125-130 - people spend hundreds on building keyboards. This, this right here is a game changer, this is the future of all computers. This is fucking star trek shit man. lolol
@@iDennis95 since when did a streamdeck have interchangable modules like a dial? also streamdeck only works on windows, where this would work on anything since the internal firmware handles the translation to keyboard.
It says you can plug a numpad directly into it, and the fact you can change to a number of different layers etc....If imagine you could easily switch to a layer that shows a full numpad If it's really that big of a deal. Otherwise for $25 you can get a nice mechanical wired or wireless numpad to plug in to the side the Flux.
Great to see it isn't released on 1st April, I mean someone actually did it. Combined the best of both worlds!!!! Well done, Flux!
I was honestly thinking if this was an early april fools lol.

@fluxkeyboard I LOVE the design!! I love the approach you took that makes it such a valueable product. Friendly advice though the software is gonna make or break this product, so please give us extensive application support, otherwise it checks all the boxes WOW!!
THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL I LOVE IT
Okay, the possibility of having a keyboard that could also function as a MIDI device has caught my attention. I wonder if how far you could push it, and if you could have a keyboard with not just dials & pads etc., but to actually include piano keys! Being able to have a normal keyboard and a MIDI keyboard complete with volume control and the like is extremely appealing to me! That would be awesome!
In your case it’s better to look at the commodore midi keyboard😊
@@ZiranPRO not really, from googling that's just a normal midi keyboard as far as I'm aware? I'm talking about a modular device that could function as a typing keyboard and as a 'musical' keyboard. I wish they had different words haha. But I'm just spitballing EDIT: Thank you for the suggestion though!
It’s cool but do I really need more stuff
It would only be like 2 octaves, but it might be enough for what you do. A way cheaper solution is to get some small controller keyboard, like the Native Instruments M32 (Which I use) or Arturia Keystep? Then you get lots of on hands controllers, and good support in all major music software.
Why not just get an AKAI Mini or whatever (they're only $100) and any old keyboard. That setup will cost you probably a quarter of the price of this thing. And you'll have actual gear.
Dude you’ve literally just made my day. I been wanting a keyboard for years that has the tactile feel and ability to switch languages and not have use an onscreen keyboard. It’s perfect! 100% Buying one

@@Mirvra when would I ever look down which key I am pushing!?
This is innovation, I don't expect this to exceed at speed typing or gaming, but this definitely opens endless possibilities for customizations and versatility (hoping it to be optimized for professional software such as capture one and DaVinci Resolve). And it looks absolutely sick.
Thanks! Yes the layout and shortcuts can be customized for any software
i think it has implications for gaming, these unique maglev switches & onboard processer might have a small effect but more importantly i think is the macros
I think it's cool but its hardly innovative
Yeah, personally I dont see this replacing my keyboard, but I doo see this as an interesting competitor to my streamdeck XL for macro use. I think it will ultimately come down the software stability/smoothness and how easy it is to create semi complex macros on it. Would love to see Taran Van Hemert “the macro king” make a review of this product
@@conall5434 its pretty innovative compared to how much the regular mechanical keyboard has evolved
Amazing ad! Loved it.
amazing !!! Can't wait to see it finished
Reminds me of the Optimus keyboard. They had a very similar value proposition. Never really took off because it was a solution looking for a problem. The biggest challenge with this paradigm is software. The hardware is easy enough to develop even for a hobbyist, but convincing software developers to implement all the shortcuts and icons is a massive undertaking that's not going to happen unless Apple, Microsoft or Google adopt this tech. That said, pouring sugar on an video of a coffee cup was a pretty genius demo, and picking Melodysheep for the soundtrack was a great move.
Is there a way to manually set shortcuts per application? Maybe ppl can make profiles for apps and other users can download those profiles?
@@ACE112ACE112great until people start shipping malware inside these. Press A to be keylogged 💀

Funny: as an old software developer, pretty sure I can get the keyboard to switch language to whatever the system language is. For other key functions, I can give you a WYSIWYG editor that allows you to assign UTF-8 characters or images... As I see it, the difficult part is getting good key action.
I'm gonna be honest I'll believe it when I see it... this seems incredible if it can be made to work as well as shown here but I definitely have my doubts... good luck to you guys with this, definitely seems insane if it works entirely as expected...

@@citrus4419 Show me the mechanism. (Little tip : magnetism isn't mechanical, you need springs and switches for a mechanical keyboard)
I'm more of a creators than a gamer or keeb and same.
I want this so much, From being able to change the image, video or interactive style behind the keys to hot swappable modules. Everything about this keyboard is innovative and yet so exciting to experience once it's available. And on top of that the fact that it can even show the Keybinds/Shortcuts on the keys itself is also super nice, the advantages for gaming listed would also mean that players based around movement are able to do more precise movement without the hassle of having the time it takes for mechanical switches to reset to their position to allow being pressed down again, and the easy maintenance would be super helpful to people that like to keep their keyboards clean but not have to take every switch off of their keyboard in order to remove debris from between the keys.
This looks really cool. Hope you guys can pull it off!
I hope it works out! Beautiful!
I had a similar idea with a multi language keyboard that could switch between letter types as a design project a while back, but this completely blows it out of the water. Honestly think this might be the ideal iteration of this idea. Super excited to see where this goes!
The thing is, if you know what AHK and/or MSKCL is then you can type in whatever language you wish to (I can switch to russian or japanese, but because I don't use these languages that often, I don't need that feature that much) Where there's a will, there's a way. For Beakl!
@@ziomek422 this keyboard and my idea reflect the keyboard change visually! My forgetful self kinda needs that lol
@@piiigeon4464 Actually, visual changes are quite nice to have, not gonna lie - I wonder if there will be the same problem as I have with RGB keyboards - it is cool for 10 minutes and after that I pretty much never use lightning on my keyboard (maybe eventually a static color), because it is distracting me while I'm typing on it In theory, fantastic thing to have, in practical manner might be an overkill. We'll see...
@@ziomek422 yeah no I was saying the visual changes are good lol. My version only had different parts of keys light up for different letter sets, not as crazy as this. Idk how often the custom background or videos would be used by the average user, overkill might be the right word

I'm genuinely intrigued. This is, by far, the most innovative keyboard I've seen! 👏🏼👏🏼
Innovative and yet still uses the same layout physical layout from 1868.
These are features I would want in mainstream keyboards. I got worried with the space on the top being unused but seeing that you guys use the top for modularity, that's pretty cool. Good luck, I hope this works out.
I love the screen/keyboard combo. I actually considered something similar with little LCD screens in each key, but your solution does seem better. The extra modules are a nice touch too. Now all you need to do is work on the ergonomics.
Thanks!
Looks amazing
Beautiful idea. Always thought of making one but your stands out due to being modular and customizable. Hope to see in store soon. Want to try it out.
The ad team really managed to rizz up a keyboard as the next big tech 😂 Unfortunately, I'll still stick to my DK6 ergo.. Because once you go ergo, you can't go back... Looking at a standard layout just makes my RSI acts up now.
For me the most challenging feeling I think we can lose over mechanical keyboards is the key feedback, which could be solved via any kind of subtile haptic feedback. But we absolutely delete the delay on the travel that the key needs in order to make the "push" function, it's amazing.
Maglev switches might be as satisfying or more satisfying. We’ll see.
But it has that push because it s transparent and is like a normal keyboard that can change skins:)
This looks amazing, I want one
2:47 "Control, alt, create" is a pretty good slogan.
Would be very nice if there was a community workshop (sort of like Steam) with custom keyboard profiles, specific functions, etc. and the ability to edit/customize from pre-existing profiles.. there's an infinite amount of potential for this keyboards functionality. I'm definitely excited to see what they can do with music software. There is space for this keyboard to transform into the already multi-functional "keyboard" to an entirely different production instrument with the multiple modules and remapable keys. I'm curious to see if this keyboard will be compatible with softwares like FL Studio and Logic.
If users are allow to create their own layouts and share them, that part is already taken care of.
Why wouldn't it? Im gonna assume you didn't check out the Kickstarter page. The keyboard comes with like 30-40 different program layouts. Every program you can think of basically already comes with it on day 1. Both programs you listed included
I am glad to see a group continue where Art Lebedev left off with the Optimus Maximus and Optimus Popularis. I always thought the concept of a physical computer keyboard with displays on or behind the keys had great potential but Art Lebedev's execution always fell short (to say nothing for their astronomical pricing and poor durability and lifespan.) I wish Flux better success. Also I wish for a module for this keyboard with clicky keys.
Because there is no mechanical keys. Lebedev wanted to make mechanical keyboard with tiny display on each key. Of course it’s very expensive. Every stuff from Art. Lebedev is expensive but because small amount. If you produce millions the price is lower.
Wtf, you would buy keyboard from rus nazi Lebedev? If it is before he started work as propagandist then ok...
~This concept to me is wild, coming from a Kinesis ADvantage keyboard. I also was recommended this video on the right-side tab after seeing the "Finalmouse" Keyboard, which is similar to this, but the keys don't seem to have values, it's just a backlit screen with effects, which is cool, but the keys on the display is very nice.
@@cyrilanisimov I doubt that Flux will be way cheaper than Optimus, looks like another expensive yet useless device. The price point definitely won’t let this become a mass product, probably several major creators or professionals will buy, and that’s all.

Ideally, I’d never move my fingers/hands off the keyboard: I’m a bit dyspraxic, and it’s problematic to lose my place, as it takes me longer than most to return where I need to be. Stupid school system never allowed me to take a typing class, even though I tried every semester from 7th-12th grade, they had “better” ideas for me. Finally got to touch-typing about age 25 in 1996. Of course I ended up typing for a living! For keyboards that aren’t double-shot, I have a pattern of wearing off the lettering for 8 keys pretty consistently. This is one of the most amazing tech products I have ever seen. This impressed me more than my first 3D Printer.
Let's hope it gets out in production!
The beauty of this to me is that you can have any key do any function and display what exactly that function is on the key. It's possible to do similar stuff with a traditional keyboard, but the display for the keys makes it much less clunky and confusing.
Looks pretty darn dope. As a developer I have to ask, and I know its still a prototype, but will there be plans for an "API" for this keyboard? So I could write my own things for it? And as a keyboard enthusiast I have to ask about the Switches. Will there be more variants than only one linear & tactile?
Prolly a godsend for different kinds of people working on PC's and keyboard enthusiasts. Really hope that the software would be open source since this would make this keyboard incredibly versatile

The great thing about keyboards is you don't need to look at them to control your computer. Also I'm concerned by how the keys would feel. The modules are interesting, but that market is already pretty well served. I'll be interested to see what reviewers have to say, hands-on.
>The great thing about keyboards is you don't need to look at them to control your computer. This is false. People don't use their keyboards at all to control their computers (besides basic text input). Probably less than 5% of users have more than a dozen key combos memorized. If I could look down and see what function is going to be performed by executing a key combo, then I would actually use them.
@@Gooberpatrol66 People who do things like video editing, painting, programming, Photoshop(and many others) use keyboard shortcuts extensively. Keyboard is not just for basic text input. And they do memorize shortcuts eventually after repeated use. For example, when I'm drawing something, I use right hand for drawing, and I put left hand at Ctrl and Z position, and then I can reach common shortcuts like Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+A, Ctrl+Shift+Z without ever looking down at keyboard. And I also don't usually look down at keyboard for many others, because my hands just remembers which one I should press. And besides that, there are people who use key combos to open certain applications(Win+E for explorer for example), or manage opened windows.

What an awesome idea; I only use ortholinear layouts now, but hopefully that wouldn't be too hard to accommodate someday for this. I could see this being absolutely huge for adobe creative suite users and other media software users.
I just broke my dominant arm. This could probably adapt to specific situations like mine or for people with any disability. Love this!
