6 Things INFJ Says & What They Really Mean

Have you ever taken the MBTI personality test? Are you an INFJ? Or is someone you know an INFJ? The INFJ is the rarest MBTI personality type out there, making up less than 1% of the population. Being the rarest type, they're often perceived as mysterious and private to those they aren’t well acquainted with. INFJs have tendencies to watch their language to avoid hurting someone.
Disclaimer: The MBTI is a personality inventory designed to roughly identify a person’s personality type, split into 16 categories. As such, it may contain some slight inaccuracies, so take it as a list of rough tendencies rather than strict classifications. This video's primary intention is for providing entertainment and light-hearted content.
Not sure if you're really an INFJ? We made a video on the signs you're an INFJ, the rarest personality type: • 8 Signs You’re An INFJ...

  • What every INFJ do: - Doesn't answer the phone call - Wait for it to end ringing without rejecting the call (because in our mind that would be more rude than ignoring it) - Search online the phone number to see if the number was a safe number or a scam And you can be sure that I do this everytime unless it's a close friend. • Just a thank you to you and other INFJ's, for only we are the closest to being able to remotely understand ourselves. Sojournering into the depths of understanding, and every once in a while coming back for air for a few minutes. I so badly want to trade hearts and minds with another person for a while, to see their own abstractions, or color in the world. We're such complex paradoxes, it is hardly worth explaining. Keep putting one step ahead of the other. Give yourself some credit for living in a double universe of: fantasy and real life, dreams and realities, concious and unconcious, and lastly, your heart and your mind. It's a war, but I'm hoping for all of us that eventually both become great allies!

    • I think the thing is, we get so wrapped up in caring for others and figuring out how to make them feel good about their positive qualities, that we tend to forget how to _take in_ a compliment... how to feel good about ourselves. This may be particularly noticeable while our friends and/or partner are going through difficult times in their lives, and we feel like it's our job to fix it or (since fixing is often impossible) support them on their way through it. Only so much energy and attention to go around, and we like to spend it on our precious people, then whatever's left might go to ourselves... sometimes there's very little left, due to a general lack of planning, awareness or what-have-ye. If y'all other types could make a little mental note to watch for our self-denial tendencies a bit and give us hugs, compliments, encouragement and other positive attention from time to time, that is generally very much appreciated by us INFJ types.

  • I wonder if there any INFJ who didn’t had any childhood traumas or not having an emotionally unavailable family. Man, their possibilities are infinite with such favourable circumstances. Or is it the trauma that moulds an INFJ 🤔

    @akhilbs9625@akhilbs96252 жыл бұрын
    • Probably a mixture of both nature and nurture. Two people can go through the same traumatic experience, and come out of that experience affected differently due to both their own past experiences, but also how their general dispositions towards life are. INFJs are the result of both nature and nurture, in my opinion. As is the case with everyone’s personality type. No life is easy, or without it’s traumas.

    • My life was hell. Out of anyone or anything I could relate with, it's Guts from Berserk. I've always found it difficult to connect with people who live in sunshine and skittles land, where everything was damn near perfect. However, I'm so thankful for the hard road, and do believe the hard road is what creates some of the most real and in depth people. I know that is why I resonate with so many of you in this community, because of your depths or atleast your willingness to dive deep. A thought I have had for a few months on and off, I'm just so thankful for my lead Ni, in it's purest and truest form. Ni is like an Eagle taking flight. (More specifically the wings of the eagle taking flight.) Scoping all the landscapes around it, taking it all in: the wind, the noise, the sights, far reaching, penetrating deep across all distances, scanning frequently. It has a way of gliding effortlessly throughout the day. Then Boom!!! We are fixated (Ti!) Ti has locked onto its prey to grab hold on of that which is spotted. Moving closer to grasp it, contending with the object, willing to plunge into the depths of waters with our talons fixed onto that prey, or daring to hold onto it until we tire in the sky. Our Fe is the regurgitated remains given to our family. They always appreciate the sustenance, even though it is not in the most blended form. Our Fe builds a massive nest for our loved ones to be housed in. But our true and effortless passion is one with the wind and our sails. It is our beauty of the heights and depths we can reach, and it is only accomplished when we are not holding onto our object, nor vomiting our ideals. Atleast that is where my soul truly lives in peace. With my wings in flight!

Because most people asks "How are you" just as a social norm script even they don't really care. So people are mostly aware and just answer "fine". I hope your family understands your better, you have better friends. Nothing beats a close person that understands you, someone you don't even have to say something else to avoid difficult situations, someone you can say what you really mean and and want to say, even though you still feel scared doing so. But having your feelings actually accepted and understood is one of the most relieving things in the world.

I know that most of his friends and family see me listening in on a conversation and occasionally sticking in a one liner or a thoughtful comment and think that I am afraid to join in. I am just like, “no I was the exact amount of involved that I wanted to be. In the same room, listening, and only occasionally adding comments. This is me joining in. I know you could forget that I am here entirely and that’s what I want, thank you. Unless you would like to calmly discuss a philosophical question or talk about books one on one. We could do that too.”

  • When I discovered I was an infj-t, I was confused about what it meant, but these explanations have made me understand the way I am so well! Do any other infjs out there tend to overexplain themselves while texting? When I am communicating with others through text, I find myself talking to others the way I would want them to talk to me. That is, being so clear there is no reason for them to ask me to re-explain myself. I think I do this because it gives me anxiety when I need to ask others to re-explain themselves; being clear myself is a way to spare the other person from that anxiety, which I assume they have, even though it's very possible they don't. 😅

I do believe their are archetypical truths, and there is a massive reason why certain things resonate, and can still meet the great divide of logic and emotion. Don't ever take it as Gospel truth, especially once you are a few thousand hours versed in psychology, ethics, function stacks, animal traits, personality typings etc. (If we ever get close to that :P) We both believe we are INFJS, and that liberates us in many ways doesn't it? It's like finally unlocking the key to our dark and hidden room of complexity and letting the light in. A couple years ago I learnt about it, about function stacks, about nuanced body language, social dynamics and calibration. My whole world got flip inside out. Hey Maya, I understand you. • Ya'll before saying you are an INFJ, make sure to have studied the functions, do not rely on tests as they are not accurate enough to determine your true and inner personality. Studying the functions is the best way and the true way. Stereotypes are also very popular, so this plays a big role on destroying how a real and authentic INFJ would act. Not every description you see on the internet about INFJs are true, they are really stereotypical. Just study the functions. This is coming from an mbti and enneagram addict and who has spent the last 2 years studying it.

    • Right, the functions are everything. There is a lot of content about very young, immature or undeveloped INFJs, such as this video. I've always been quite direct, but kind, about what I want to say, and I mean it. The only time I say something vague is when the other person isn't going to get something or doesn't need to know. Once INFJs fully develop all of their functions and integrate their Se (well, it's more of a balancing act) they know exactly what they need and what their limits are. They can be great conversationalists and are social to the point where people confuse them for extroverts. Older INFJs have passed through the emo phase/mid life crisis of their youth and are much more playful, light hearted and adventurous. I've lived abroad for years, which has pushed me out of my comfort zone again and again, and while it was an uncomfortable process, I'm a well developed INFJ who purposefully pursues challenges that add to my personal growth.

    • @@thishumaniscalledsarah yes! Also just because you don't act as the typical INTJ does not mean that you aren't one, those are stereotypes implemented into the community and has now changed view of how 'each type should act' which isn't true at all. People say INTJs are always logical, lacking empathy etc. while these descriptions may be true for SOME INTJs, it's not everyone. Some INTJs can also have strong empathy too, really it's all about functions. It's ok to get swayed by the stereotypes by the internet but do remember that it is about functions, not behaviors.

    • @@Psych2go I've learnt that they're really invested in interpersonal relationships. When my girlfriend and I talk together we can have very different ways of thinking but both of our points of view add to the image of a situation we're making. Our cognitive functions play a lot as well since INTPs (TI-NE-SI-FE) can help with INFJ(NI-FE-TI-SE)'s Introverted Thinking (TI) and INFJs can help with INTP's Extraverted Feeling (FE). I help her when she feels like she has no issue and needs some external input. She helps me think more about the consequences of my actions on the world and people around me. Cool cool (^:

  • As an INFJ, this is SO me!!! I can't count how many times I've thought "I don't want to go, I won't know anyone there." I've also answered "how are you?" with "fine" or "I'm good" when it's someone I don't know or if they're not asking because they're actually interested. The more times a person ignores my response, the more worthless responses they get from me. They won't listen anyway. That leads to the "it's not important" phrase mentioned in the video. Many times I've ignored the ringing phone to text the person later. Phone calls seem like such an invasion of my alone-time.

  • Yep, I relate to these quite a bit. Especially the "how are you" question, as I can't help but think of the several times I opened with that question to a friend I hadn't talked to in a while, and I just get a superficial "I'm well, how are you?" Typically, in response to that, I just unload all my thoughts with a long text that reads like a novel, and they tend to get overwhelmed by it.

  • I'm an INFJ working as a guidance counsellor in a highschool. I have to take phone calls pretty much every day, and let me tell you, it was NOT easy at first. x) But eventually I felt more comfortable in my role as a guide, and so I felt better about answering. Nowadays I'll talk to friends and family over the phone quite a lot (like maybe once a week, it's a lot for me), but I'll basically Never pick up if I don't know the number haha. I actually don't really like texting though, like, if we talk about something specific, I'm all for it. But if we're just sort of "hanging out" over text, I have such a hard time "reading" the person that I honestly prefer talking over the phone. Over the phone you can at least hear the tone of voice people are using, and it's easier to explain what you were thinking when you said something. Maybe other INFJs disagree, and I think it might be because I don't really see texting as a "social" interaction - and I'm pretty slow at it - but I actually prefer talking over the phone haha.

It’d be quite depressing if there were literally only 16 types of people. In truth there are 7.6 BILLION types of people. Everyone is their own type. The 16 personality types is just a category of people who think similarly, but they will still all be different based on their life experiences. So you’re all good! 😊
