  • To everyone in the comments that think the octopus is feeling every instance of pain when he cuts it, at 4:03 he cuts off the nerve endings to the brain, so the brain (or octopus) feels nothing, thats why he did that first. The muscles will still tense after most animals are killed like that. If you have ever heard of the saying "running around like a chicken with its head cut off" this is what this refers to. The chicken is dead but the body still is running...octupuses flop because thats how they swim. Edit: There are many people in the comments saying this is wrong and the chicken/octopus is still alive. I'm sorry but you are just flat out wrong. But allow me to explain. I have seen this firsthand, my family used to grow chickens (on a free range where they were happy). When we butchered them their bodies would go crazy when we cut their heads off. 1: they are instantly dead when their head is separated from every single working organ in their body. If you think that the brain has some mystical connection to the body you have read too many fantasy books. 2: All sense of feeling is achieved through brain, so the body does not feel anything (yes octopuses have some small amount of brain cells in their appendiches, but not enough to process pain like a full brain does, that brain is just wired to find food) 3: the pressure of the cutting material instantly sends an electrical signal through the nerves in the spinal chord which triggers the reaction throughout the ENTIRE body. You know the concept of muscle memory? Well that applies in this case. A brain does not have to signal 'run' to a muscle. It will do the thing that it has done 10,000 times as a response. Just like when you are walking you don't have to constantly remind your legs which foot comes next. You only send one simple signal: walk. I hope this helps clear some things up. And in reference to the octopus, all of the nerve endings are connected around the center of the eyes. Before any gruesome chopping happens, he cuts the nerve endings. No nerve endings = no feeling. Again, if you think otherwise, stop reading so much fantasy and get into some science/non-fiction

      @blushingsprout@blushingsprout3 жыл бұрын
    • Raud Kelly I hate it when people look at these videos and think that Asians are cruel when they have no idea how much effort is put into making sure animals do not suffer. Movements do not mean pain, they are natural reflexes when certain actions are performed against it. The nerves do not recognize when the body is basically dead; cells keep going until they run out of oxygen and die. Some human cadavers still have reflexes and sometimes even move, even after decapitation. Even more so in octopuses, where the individual arms move and feel independently from the central brain. Besides, they act all high and mighty when American and generaly Western handling of fodder animals is not humane in the slightest, or is bare minimum but still ethically questionable. Ridiculous how biased people can be when they see other cultures. "no respect for the animal" No sir YOU have no respect at all, not the chef.

    • Pete this is definitely not how things like the coronavirus start. the coronavirus began because of the illegal sale of animals with the virus. korea is well known for their seafood markets, and they're kept up with and monitored. the way this guy is handling the octopus points to him educating viewers on parts of the octopus as he cuts it up, as you can hear him numbering off while he makes cuts. when he boils it afterwards, any harmful bacteriathat may have been on the ground he was cutting it on is killed from the temperature. any cutting surface used afterwards was obviously cleaned before use. it's unsurprisingly damaging to spread things like this. while your comment may be a 'harmless joke,' racism towards asians is becoming more prominent as the coronavirus spreads, and it's best to just avoid comments like yours entirely...

    • Pete i dunno what thai food has to do with a korean video in korea, but its an interesting way to defend yourself against a 'racism accusation' lol and i neither called you racist nor 'got uptight' about your comment. some people genuinely dont understand how this coronavirus came about and i was explaining how this video doesn't represent a way for the coronavirus to start or spread. also jokes are supposed to be funny are they not? i dont often laugh about a virus that has killed ten of thousands. freedom of speech says that im allowed to express my distaste towards a bad joke anyways lol

    • @@MrX-nr1 idk, I get where you’re coming from but I personally don’t believe he did anything cruel. His first step was to sever any nerve endings and kill it as quickly as possible so that it wouldn’t have to suffer. Any time the body moved after that was just muscle reflexes, it wasn’t actually alive at that point and didn’t feel any pain. And he utilized every single part of its body that he could so nothing needlessly went to waste. I personally think it would only be cruel if he cut it all up before he killed it, or if he only killed it to use a tiny part of its body. That’s just my opinion at least. Also, I don’t mean to be rude, but you chose to watch the video so obviously it doesn’t bother you THAT much. Why give it views if you don’t support it? Why comment on the video so that KZhead’s algorithm will be more likely to share it to more people? Just report the video if you really hate it that much, don’t waste your time attacking random bystanders in the comments when you could be focusing on the source of the problem. Or atleast if anyone must eat these kind of creatures then you must let it die and then eat or boil whatever . be humane to animals . Also this type of unhygenic conditions makes everyone cringe . who would like to eat food prepared on the foot path or road while vehicles pass by it .
