Witnessing the Easter Island Fire | October 4, 2022

This is first-hand footage of the fire on Easter Island that occurred on October 4, 2022. Primarily taken from Camino Vaitea Anakena, get a closer look at how quickly the fire spread throughout the Rano Raraku crater.
This took awhile to get to and recognize it's old news at this point but in rewatching the footage I captured, I now see how dangerously close the fire was to sweeping through all of the quarry at Rano Raraku. While we weren't there at the site itself, it largely seemed to go unnoticed on the day it happened. It wasn't until 2 days later that the fire was picked up by international outlets.
We also had a chance to survey the damage from outside of Rano Raraku a day later and could see how far the fire had spread.

  • Why does this fire remind me of the wildfires in Lahaina Hawaii and Chile?? Is it possibly because all of them managed to cause extraordinary destruction of structures and items that aren't normally so easily destroyed by simple wildfires?? Or maybe it's because all of these places hold some kinda important historic information that certain individuals in positions of authority/power don't want the public knowing about.. whatever is happening, I refuse to accept that these are simply caused by Mother Nature.. there is most definitely more going on than what meets the eye.. thank you for sharing this footage and please keep up the good work ❤❤👏👏🤔🤔👀👀

  • So Amazing you have the Only evidence of this fire and your assessment of its origin. Weird the Entire Islanders had no idea. Weider a low land grass fire destroyed rock Thousands of years old? Guaranteed a brush fire has happened before. And your video showed areas burning as if from a Source on the ground, not just brush.

  • That wind was either one of 3 things, it was trying to tell you something? Or it was manipulated by the government/family that did it? Orr it initially was stating something the first time and the second time played manipulated by the second scenario.

  • I can’t believe I’ve just heard about this fire! So strange. But even stranger is the fact the fire burned hot enough to damage the statues, like what? The only fuel is saw in your video is some green grass, which is sure has to be far from the first brush fire. I’m not much for conspiracy but this makes three odd fires with extraordinary circumstances. Also odd that there wasn’t much coverage.

    • The statues are carved out of soft volcanic tuff, which has centuries of rain, wind and weather affecting them. This is why they were destroyed so easily by the brush fires. It's pretty tragic though nonetheless.

    • Basalt can crack from stress caused by cooling. Basalt melts at 984°-1260° celcius. In an open area where a **grass fire** rages, the temperatures can vary based on conditions. Here are some approximate ranges: **Surface Grass Fire**: - Flames in an average surface grass fire might reach up to **1 meter (3.3 feet)** in height. - The temperatures in such a fire can soar to around **800°C (1,472°F) or more**. - Under extreme conditions, a fire can emit **10,000 kilowatts or more per meter of fire front**. - This translates to flame heights of **50 meters (164 feet) or more** and flame temperatures exceeding **1,200°C (2,192°F)**.

    • @@charleygnarly1182 Tuff is and that's what kind of basalt was used for the heads. Volcanic material of tuff is formed by fragmentation and destruction of products of basic magma: volcanic glass and poorly-crystallized lava and to varying degrees of crystallized basalt. In its structure, tuffs are coarse-grained and characterized by high porosity and low density...one of the easiest "rocks" to carve, relatively speaking.
