maybe you don't need to upgrade to the 5090 if u already got a 4090 (just upgrade the cpu to i9 15900k or zen5 x3d cpu end of the year instead), my worry is that the 5090 won't look fast in reviews because next gen cpu's won't fast enough to show the full performance of the new cards! lol
Surprised by what? I’m frustrated by your accent 😂, but honestly, did you change the ring ratio speed for the i7? did you undervolt the processor? did you try to overclock it? Is memory speed the same speed in both tests? I9 of neither 13th gen nor 14 doesn’t have so much of an advantage over an i7. You have 200 mhz higher speed of an i9 and this might not be everything.
@@user-ly4gn4sw7s so basically this video was pointless?
@@themaskedgamer4031 More yes than no, just specifically in gaming no difference, not other tasks. There are a plenty of test proving this all over youtube.
BRO U JIST NEED TO OVERCLOCK THE 14700K
True! The i7-14700K sees up to 20% higher multi-core performance from overclocking.Turbo Boost 2.0 + XMP 3.0: Unleashing Turbo Boost 2.0 limits and enabling XMP 3.0 provides a noticeable boost. Overclocked i7-14700K has been tested at 6GHz, achieving similar boost clocks as the i9-14900K.
Bro, you just need to overclock i9-14900k!
@@mrhassell It would be good to have a guide of how to overclock the 14700k
love the pov pc building/testing subbed
I appreciate it🤝🙂 Thanks!
Looks like memory ram timings/freq is the reason? Or cache which is -10
Seeing this makes me feel like an idiot for still using an i9 9900ks with a 4090 lol. I will be upgrading to arrowlake later this year though
There's no reason to feel bad🙂 You'll upgrade to a CPU that is much better than what's available right now. Are you not planning to upgrade to the RTX 5090 if it brings another big performance leap over the 4090?
I plan on getting the 5090 as well. I will probably keep or sell my 4090
B760m Aorus Elite X AX its the best cheap high speed ram capable board... are people runing 8200/8400 daily on that shit...
I guess it’s for me to do same. 9900kgoodbye
All good.
As previously mentioned, just overclock the i7 using Foundation Toolkit ISO or manually adjusting CPU ratios and voltage offsets, fine-tuning voltage rails, V/F curves, and other parameters and of course reach Turbo Boost 2.0 limits, enabling XMP 3.0 are all key requirements. You already have everything you need. Maybe some better RAM..
yeah this video seems like a waste maybe?.....
I don't do overclocking and tweaking anymore. Majority of customers (including myself) want everything to work either out of the box or with a few clicks. That's the kind of channel I run nowadays🙂 I'll leave hardware tweaking to those who actually enjoy it and will continue doing what I enjoy most. If I'm curious about a certain topic - I'm making a video on it.
Thanks for sharing,I owned a couple 14900KF and 14600K and I am a PC gamer playing at 4K. I use 14600K over 14900KF
Thanks for watching! How's your experience with the 14600K at 4K?
@@theivadim I enjoyed the video, for me 14600K was the same experience as 2 x 14900KF in PC gaming. So much so I sold the 14900KF for a nice profit as one of them was a very good binned part and I am using the 14600K as my main PC gaming rig.
@@gerardfraser huh, how the 14600k is better than 14900k?
@stevensv4864 he didn't say it was better. But I think it's good enough for 4k and less wattage and less heat. They still pull about 250+ watts if unlocked and I agree 14600k and 14700k are the sweet spots with the 14700k being considerably hotter
@@DavidAlki88 oh i see, good point
I think memory OC makes a bigger difference than the CPU change. If you point a fan at your ram and try push 8000 MHz with manual timings, you'll see 100 FPS+ no problems. I'm running 4300 CL15 on my 32 GB B-DIE kit and it matches DDR5 7600 performance.
I think: overclock everything or nothing at all🙂 But yeah, memory OC would give more FPS for sure. Maybe I'll get a better memory kit later to test the difference.
Unleashing Turbo Boost 2.0 limits and enabling XMP 3.0 provides a noticeable boost.
*8000 MT/s It would be running at 4000 MHz while doing that 8000 MT/s. See the difference? Use correct terms.
when i built my system i took into account the temperature difference between the 14900k and 14600k plus how much perf i would lose since i game in 1440p . considering the price difference and needing more hardware (bigger and more rads) i chose the 14600k cuz it suits my needs just fine atm. Im also using a 7900 xtx since a 4090 cost like 3k canadian and i dont trust the power connector
All of those sound like valid reasons. How's your experience with FSR 3 and AMD's frame generation? I really want to try it myself but I still didn't get a chance to get my hands on an AMD graphics card yet.
@@theivadim I don't use fsr3. I only play like 2 games. Both at 1440p and both max out at 200fps. I'm considering playing Baldur's Gate 3. Which is alot more demanding then apex legends. But life is keeping me very busy atm
Did you use intel bios settings or the default motherboard ones?
Motherboard default
@@theivadim I don't think it's a good idea to use motherboard default with all the intel fried chips
I'm actually editing a video where I compare the i5 14400 vs the i9 14900K at 4K, during which I discovered something shocking related to what you're saying. I've done some investigating during the recording. The video will be published later on today. In a few hours. Check it out if you're interested in this topic🙂

why would u teat a game running on ecores?
i am not surprised by the difference but surprised by how these new games require more cpu power even in 4k with not high frame rates... because even at 1440p competitive games don't require lots of cpu performance bellow 200-300 fps.
i7 14700f and rtx 4070 ti super gaming x slim .. no issues at 4k at all , I'm sticking
i have a ASUS TUF 4090 OC paired with i7 13700k. i'm undecided to stay with the 13700 or get a 14900k or even go with new MB and 7800X3D
If you're thinking about upgrading the CPU and even prepared to go as far as changing your motherboard then why not do it when the new CPUs launch later this year? Both AMD and Intel are rumoured to release something good.
Can you really tell without the frame counter on? With such high end combos.
In some scenes - yes, in others - no. But my point is - if you're building a high-end PC then it makes sense to do it right.
Can you do a comparison for AMD, i have the 7700 and i wonder if i should buy a 7850XD3. My Gpu is a 4070 Super.
At the moment, it doesn't look likely that I'll get a chance to do such a comparison any time soon. But I'd like to in the future if I get a chance.
Hey! I had the 7700x with 4070 super and currently using 7800x3d with 4070 super. The reason that I upgraded the cpu was building another pc to my partner. When I was on the market for a new build when dragons dogma 2 released and I was frustrated with the performance, I liked the game but the stutter and the "low" pfs was not enjoyable. I just got the parts for her and took the 7800x3d to me. I'm playing at 2k and prefer 90+ fps. Cpu upgrade helped just a little with the dragons dogma but game just sucks. Other games that I play I didn't noticed any performance difference. I think it will be futile to upgrade 7700 to a current generation x3d chip, amd is probably cooking their new lineup and will release new cpus end of the year. Maybe you can upgrade to 9800x3d at that time.
@@ahmet4yildirim Thank you Sir !
Is that a stock 14900K? Looks like an undervolted one, or you just won the silicon lottery. Usually I see benchmarks at 65-85 °C and 100-140 Watts
It's stock. I haven't done any tweaking. It also depends on the game. Horizon isn't very CPU intensive.
@@theivadim yeah I know, usually 14900K doesn't run like that at such low temps and power draw with any game. You could easily overclock it, but I wouldn' bother, you got your 120fps already, nice chip.
Can it run Crysis?
Good question!😀
Yes
really we need the top of the line cpu to get 90fps in forbidden west? even a R5 7600X or i5 13600K should get those fps i think there is something wrong in your pc.
I simply report on my experience with these products. Do with that what you wish🙂 My PC is fine.
HFW is a GPU bound game. His numbers are pretty standard for 4K. Although I noticed his 14900 runs cool as fuck, and not drawing as much power. If it was running hotter maybe he'd gain more fps
How is the 14700k bottlenecking it? Dosent it perform similar to the 13900k?
its not lol hes just trying to justify the more expensive i9
@@Jamie71q lol perhaps because I don't hear people with a 13900k complain about it and like I said I'm sure the 14700k performs around the same
I had a 14900k in my cart for a week before finally changing to a 14700k the last day before ordering. I wonder if I should have forked out an extra $150 or whatever. Might be worth it if you keep that build going for a long time which I probably will.
You might be compelled to swap that CPU for a new one when the next generation launches later this year. Both Intel and AMD are rumoured to launch something significantly more powerful than the current generation. What do you think about that?
@@theivadim Maybe, but only if some really amazing games come out. Or if I just can't help myself, lol.
I hope there will be such games. I've recently got back into PC gaming and there's a ton of games I'm enjoying. And some good ones are on the horizon as well. I'm interested in Black Myth: Wukong, Hellblade 2, Stalker 2, and Marvel's Blade. But only time will tell if any of them are good. What about you? Are you anticipating any particular game this year?
@@theivadim I really want to play Stalker 2. I hope it comes out this year. Only if it's ready though.
Cache size may be what make the i9 wins over the i7. You could do a test with the i9 by matching the clock speed of the i7 clock and see if the fps boost is still there. Nevertheless, AMD has proven that cache size beats GHz in games.
Cache beats GHz in some games. The perfect CPU must have both. That's why 7800X3D is good, but there still some games out there that run better on Intel CPUs. Once AMD cracks its GHz problem and gets those core clocks as high as Intel then it will have the perfect CPU. I hope it'll happen soon. And I hope that Intel will do the same and stay competitive.🙂
i just bought the i7 13700kf
I am surprised to see these results on 4K for sure. I think 4090 is such a beast that only 14900K and 7800 X3d are right processors for it.
Indeed🙂
Intel's Fastest won't be able to fully saturate or utilize the RTX 4090. (Getting Closer) My question is: Were you sweating bullets from all the testing? So much extra money for so few extra FPS gains. Very interesting and nice examination there iVadim. Thank you. Cheers
Sorry, I didn't understand the "sweating bullets" part🙂 About this configuration: I think of this kind of PC like this - It's a "shut up and take my money" kind of situation if we're building an RTX 4090 gaming PC. It means that it's absolutely fine to spend an extra several hundred $ to get more performance in order to make sure that there are as few compromises as possible. Imho, if one optimises their build for good cost-to-performance then they shouldn't buy an RTX 4090 in the first place. Go for something more sensible. Like an RTX 4080 SUPER or RX 7900 XTX.
@@theivadim Very true about a sensible build route. The "Sweating Bullets" remark was in regards to how warm your testing space got from all that wattage/heat and power being used. Can't wait for next Gen CPU's to arrive. Cheers
Oh, yes. It is getting pretty toasty in the room😀 But it's OK for now since it's still not exactly warm here in the UK. I'm actually not looking forward to the summer because I don't have an air con.
You don't need high end cpu for 4k gaming because it gpu bound. Unless you want to flex or you're a video editor and want faster rendering then by all means upgrade your cpu.
sorry but this video just proved you wrong?.....
@@themaskedgamer4031 it's a given that the 14900k is better than the 14700k in performance but I don't think you understand how CPU and GPU works for gaming. As long as your cpu isn't bottlenecking, upgrading to a 14900k for more fps isn't necessary. Low latency over high fps anyday.

It’s becoz of the chace different? Also the i7 can’t run ram above 7000mhz, unlike i9 can run 8000 easily
I haven't dug that deep.🙂 My high-performance DDR5-6000 CL32 memory works pretty well. I think it's a good sweet spot in terms of price and performance because it is a low-latency memory. From what I've heard, 8000 speed even with the i9 14900K is not guaranteed. You're still depending on the silicon lottery for the memory controller to work better than average.
@@theivadim intel advantages is in ram speed, if u could run ram 8000mhz on i9 it will beat 7800x3d even with 6200mhz custom low latency
intel cpus are not limited by ram speeds only amd do
All you need is the 7800x3D...unless you absolutely need more cores for something specific...this CPU games the best, runs cool, is STABLE, and is cheaper. I switched from 13900K and have not looked back since...
intel is more stable and consistent in games....so bad decision also intel has better 1% lows
just a 10 fps difference in horizon forbidden west honestly im sticking with the i7 14700k not that much of a difference between these two powerful processors from intel when it comes to games obviously i9 14900k is better but not by much and plus the price difference is too much for that little performance gain Dragons dogma 2 is a special case no matter what processor you will throw at it and it will bring the cpu to its knee.
Dude, his test is inaccurate 🙄

Glad you enjoyed. I appreciate you watching it!🤝🙂
Opening scene. Why on earth is the GPU at 99% when the game is basically static on screen other than a main charcater, which takes up less than 10%. C'mon devs!
It's never 100%. That's just how this stats app work. If you see 99% then it means that the GPU is fully utilised.
@@theivadim I'm possibly missing something. The GPU should be doing very little. The screen is basically static. I don't think your GPU should be fully loaded in that circumstance. If that's the way the stats program works, it's not good. I suspect it's a very poorly optimized game, which just sucks. No one should NEED a i9 for that. Still you've got the best GPU so you would be a candidate right there.
Oh... you don't quite understand how this works. Allow me to explain. Even if the scene is 100% static the PC still has use its resources to render every single frame you see on your monitor. So, it doesn't matter if you move your mouse or not. PC will still work at the maximum of its capabilities.
