  • Great video on explaining the differences. My husband and I were playing with a fisher price toy with the kids and I told them it’s an alpaca and then I thought well what is the difference between them and llamas so I had to look it up to find out! You explained it perfectly and you can definitely see a lot of differences.

They are sweet animals, so camel-like. I think if you crossed a kangaroo or wallaby with a camel you would end up with an alpaca! Looks like you have a Huacaya breed not the Suri. I wonder if there is a difference in personality between these two. fyi - music was an annoyance and gave me a headache. Best to leave it out of videos.

They will easily live 20 years if taken care of so ypou have to be ready to committ 20 years of your life. Its a creature not a toy or ornament so you have to be ready to care for it for life.

    • @@wildernessridgetrailllamas6971 Would be great if you can do a video showing what hard work and dedication it takes to have a herd. I see a lot of people on here saying "I want one" but they dont see the vet bills, food expenses, farm cleaning up work, teeth trimming, hoof care, property maintenance etc. Plus they can easily live 20 years if you care for them right so you have to committ yourself to them for life and be responsible enough to care for another creature. Its not all fun and roses. But if you are willing to put in the work and expense the animals sure are worth it. The issue is many people get them thinking its like a dog then once the expense and care time becomes too much they abandon the animal (just look at all the dogs people abandon at kill shelters because they dont want to care for them anymore. If you think a dog is hard to care for then alpacas and Llamas are definitely not for you, you would be in for a real shock. Would be great if you made a video talking about this to give people a realistic view of what its like actually caring for them.

  • Is your Llama spit to you often?

    @fiestaayuwismiati6811@fiestaayuwismiati68114 жыл бұрын
    • They dont spit on people, that is a huge misconception. Only way they will is if you are between 2 of them that have a dispute. They generally will only spit at each other and kick each other to establish dominance and during mating season. If you have a well behaved herd then its minimal and usually the spitting may only be over food or small issue but they tend to get along well after they sort out the heirarchy.

  • Interestingly, camels (family Camelidae) are constituted by six extant species within four genera, all four extant camel genera a based solely on morphology, the six extant species of camel are the Vicuna (Vicugna vicugna), the Alpaca (Vicugna pacos), the Guanaco (Lama guanicoe), the Llama (Lama glama), the Dromedary (Camelus dromedarius), and the Bactrian Camel (Oreocamelus bactrianus), interestingly, all six extant camel species belong to the subfamily Camelinae, which is further divided into two tribes, which are Lamini (Modern Humpless Camels) with the genera Vicugna (Vicuna and Alpaca) and Lama (Guanaco and Llama) and Camelini (Humped Camels) with the genera Camelus (Modern One-Humped Camels) and Oreocamelus (Two-Humped Camels), all four of these extant camel genera have many major differences, for within the Lamini tribe, the differences between the genera Vicugna and Lama are that Vicugna species have short snouts whereas Lama species have longer snouts, while for within the Camelini tribe, the differences between the genera Camelus and Oreocamelus are that Camelus species have only one hump whereas Oreocamelus species have two humps.

This is why they have special packs made for Llama and Alpaca so it can distribute the weight evenly across their sides and not have the weight on their spines.

These arent animals for beginners. I suggest if you are interested in getting them that you work on a Llama or alpaca farm for 2 months every day so you can see the responsibility and hard work that goes into caring for them.

  • I thought she was going to weight 200+ but I guess it’s all the fur that makes her look puffy fat. 😅

  • Cute animals and great owner! I would prefer the Alpacas over Llamas, because they are more fluffy and cuter 😍

  • I had always heard that alpacas tended to be much friendlier than llamas. Obviously, you don't seem to share that opinion.

    • I think it is a nurture vs nature thing with both animals. For some reason every time I am around alpacas they seem to be more sassy.

    • @@wildernessridgetrailllamas6971 I think alpacas are like Chihuahuas they are smaller so as a defense mechanism they tend to be more reactive and Llamas are bigger and stringer so they are more confident that they can handle a situation if one arises. Plus they are taller so they dnt really see you as a "threat" or likey to harm them. So Llamas are just like "whatever , just dont piss me off and we'll be fine" and alpacas are more jumpy due to uncertainty.
