  • Just a heads up Josh. Schiit is actually selling it as the Fulla E now. I believe it has something to do with manufacturing facility of a chip in it, but they also addressed a hiss some people were getting on the Fulla 4.

    @AL_1547@AL_15472 жыл бұрын
    • After signing up for a Fulla 4 back in June right when they stopped shipping units, I received my Fulla E mid October. It lasted about 5 weeks and then the Microphone input died on it. After waiting 6 months for issues to be resolved only to have it fail, I shipped it back and got a refund. As an aside - if you're looking for a cheap closed back gaming headset, look no further than the CoolerMaster MH751/752.

    • @@negation4399 Wow, that’s a bummer. I have not had the same experience, luckily. Mine has been working great. Sounds like you had some horrible luck with timing of the manufacturer change on the DAC and then getting a faulty unit with the Fulla E. If you could ever work up to it, I’d recommend trying again on it. I’ve been really happy with mine.

      @AL_1547@AL_15472 жыл бұрын
    • providing a bit more flavour on the background, Schiit used to use AKM chips for their non multi-bit DACs; unfortunately the AKM facility had a huge fire which basically shut down their entire production, so Schiit has been working on a replacement that uses ESS chips instead of AKM for the DACs. So basically the E in their new lineups indicate it uses the ESS chip.

  • Hello Josh, first of all congrats to your channel and in particular your approach to reviewing audio/hifi-gear. Because your recommendations in this video I bought the AKG K371 on Amazon Warehouse as 'used' (it isn't) for 85 $ - ---- thank you soooo much. This thing is the deal of the century; actually even better then the HD58x or the HD6xx: cheaper, closed back = can be used when one is not alone, quite 'open' for closed back cans, does not need any EQ at all, high quality bass reproduction, very comfortable to wear. The will replace my DC Aeon RT Closed !!!!!!!. However, the cable and the cable connector on the phone are a total engineering failure, but for 85 $ I can live with that. And before I forget: according to me the E1DA PowerDAC 2.1 should be on the list next to the Qudelix. The PowerDAC is absolutely extreme in every way for 85 $ : good DAC, good headphone, insane DSP (from a functionality point of view on a similar level than the RME ADI DAC2 FS - with a much better interface).

Besides movies and games I think it's really good for listening to genres that take advantage of that bass like edm, hip hop and some other electronic music. Also, some peaks in the treble are the main issue for me. If you use eq, with just a little of it it can become really versatile. Also build quality and soundstage are excellent for the price.

  • Coincidentally, a little bit ago, I ordered the HD6XX and Fulla E for myself. Still testing out the 6XX, though so far, I like them. Just determining if the clamp is too tight for long-term usage. The Fulla seemed great at first, but I didn't notice much if any difference between that and onboard on my MacBook pro in terms of quality on both Amazon and KZhead Music dedicated clients. I loved the volume knob for smaller adjustments. However, playing music from the KZhead website, I noticed the Fulla introduced audible pops into my music that the Mac didn't. As I still listen to a decent chunk on the KZhead site, it went back.

    @remotecontrolaxe@remotecontrolaxe2 жыл бұрын
    • Take a stack of books and put them side by side to equal the width of your head and put the 6XX on them when you're not using them. It should help stretch them and ease the clamp from being so tight. But start conservatively with the amount of books so you don't over stretch/loosen them and lose the clamp completely

    • The clamp on 6XX is really strong out of the box but it gets significantly better after some time. You can also bend the headband yourself to speed it up. My 2-3 y.o. 6XX barely have any clamp, just enough to get a seal and not fall from my head

      @Artem_Shepelev@Artem_Shepelev2 жыл бұрын

    • I’ve owned both at the same time and I can tell you that at least to my ears, the 6XX is quite a bit different. Less bass, more forward vocals, more treble, bigger soundstage and more detail retrieval. In my opinion, these are substantially different. I sold my 58X so I’d always recommend the 6XX, regardless of price.

      @enlistenmusic1719@enlistenmusic17192 жыл бұрын
    • @@enlistenmusic1719 Exactly this, midrange is silghtly reccessed on 58x and bass is slightly bumped. I actually sold my 6XX and 58X and decided in favor of HD 650 over 6xx, while I also kept Philips X2HR, HD 560s. I actually found HD 6xx slightly more bright than HD 650 and didn't like that. Also I cannot agree with Joshua, the 560s are better competetive gaming headphones than PC 38x, for me they have better resolution with very similar tuning. In games like Apex Legend, PC38x sometimes get lost if there is too much going on, the 560s don't get lost. For games like CSGO and Valorant the PC38x and 560s are equal and instead Beyerdynamic 900 Pro X and Tygr are a better options.

    • @@Jon-nz3dm Both are for sure great, I do agree. At least to my ear however, the 6XX is different enough that I’d say the difference is pretty noticeable. The main issue I have with the 58X tuning though is the slight lack of treble. They sound veiled in comparison to the 6XX. EQ can fix this pretty easily though. Still a great pair of headphones either way, it’s just something I noticed when I owned both.

  • Today was crazy eye-opening (ear). I've been using Sennheiser HD650 for years with a nice Amp and Dac. I thought it was close to a sound ceiling and enjoyed the sound. I missed out hugely!! I decided to get closed and ended up getting Audeze LCD XC. After just one hour of comparing, the HD650 will be collecting dust, period. I have zero interest in them due to the clarity, speed, and range from the new Audeze. I had no idea the difference would be that drastic. It feels like someone played a big joke on me all those years with the HD650, haha. Will I gain even more quality with Hifiman Arya or Focal Clear MG in place of Audeze LCD XC?

    • Fidelio is great. But it has no sub-bass. It's a great product for general consumers. But I think sub bass is too important, it's like a top model without a spine. Flesh without bone. If I had to buy one again, I'd go for the Sundara. It does not sound as natural, it also has less soundstage but it's a wider range with better lows and highs. Also too much soundstage makes the fidelio sound too "echo-ish". Fidelio does look outstanding though, Sundara is lighter. Both are comfy. Dont know about the HD560s. For the price Fidelio is worth it, unless you really need this sub bass like me.

  • I would love to know what you think of the iFi Zen DAC V 2 and the iFi Zen Can ? Both are under $200 right now on Amazon with the Zen DAC V2 at $179 and the Zen Can at $189. Thanks for the list Josh, if I hadn't just bought the iFi stack after watching a ton of reviews I'd have went with the Schiit Stack. My final two stacks I was looking at were the iFi and the Schiit. I ended up going with iFi because it was just that little bit cheaper and I wanted to try a balanced setup. So far I'm happy after having received them yesterday and listening to them with my HE 4XX , PC37x and SHP 9500. I will be receiving my HD6XX, HD58X and HD560s around Wednesday. It has been a couple years since I bought my headphones and Fio dac amp and I'd been saving for upgrades. With around 1k to spend I decided to go with quantity and DAC/AMP upgrade versus expensive headphones on my cheapo DAC. • @@MrBlitzpunk I'm using the iFi wall warts to power the DAC and Amp because I knew with my old rig I'd get noise and so far I haven't noticed any. I agree that the XBass and 3D sounded gimmicky but after hearing them I can say they are awesome but it depends on the headphone. I'm honestly pretty happy with my purchase, maybe that's just trying to justify the purchase but I do know it's a definite improvement over my little $69 in 2016 Fiio.
